Morning all.

So we're entering the last four weeks. Still time to lose a good few pounds before we reach the end.

here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I can see already that we've had some great results, and look forward to seeing/hearing about the rest!

@Eggbound

I don't know enough about this to be helpful! However, I did find this article which might help?

It's written about a keto diet (which tends to be much lower carb than Bootcamp), but the principles may well still hold true.

But I think the overall message from that is that if your mum wants to start, she should ease into it - which means that full-on Bootcamp is probably going to be too much too soon.

You're on, @8Track!

Takingontheworld · 07/07/2020 12:45

Eggbound sorry, you might have missed me saying previously that i use the depo injection which gives me no periods usually just how i like it ... so yes, it has regulated me! Just very unexpected! So now I'm a total wimp with the pain cos its been about 5 years!

Takingontheworld · 07/07/2020 12:50

Oh... on the gallbladder etc.

I previously was a sw devout.

Every now and then when i wanted to speed up losses I'd cut pasta, rice and potato. I didn't know anything about true low carb/keto back then so it will have still been pretty carbalocious, but combined with the low fat I'd lose a pretty regular 2lb per week. Would this be a middle ground for her? Less counting and tracking/rules? And the low fat better for the gall bladder?

Don't whack me BIWI! Just an acquaintance uses SW for herself post op and finds it works...

Hello 👋🏻

I haven't been active on the threads lately I'm sorry Blush I haven't even been a good lurker; but believe it or not I have still been on the low carb wagon, along with Mr. Numbs. I'm just about to add my weight to the spreadsheet.

We had a few super stressful days a couple of weeks ago which almost made us lose the will, quite frankly. I was the worst with that attitude, I considered packing in the diet altogether because it seemed so pointless in the scheme of things.

However, apart from one 'off' day which I have decided to forgive myself for given the circumstances, I have remained well and truly on track and have continued to lose Smile.

NumbsMet · 07/07/2020 13:45

Posted too soon Blush

How is everybody getting on? Are people on track with their goals? Has anybody been whacked with the big stick?

I'd love to hear any anecdotes Grin

Eggbound · 07/07/2020 14:02

Thanks both @BIWI and @Taking. Some things to think about there for Mum. We've chatted today and I've suggested not diving in just yet while we learn more about this. (Low-carb AND low-fat with your SW idea, @Taking - was their any joy in there?! Grin)

Also, sorry not to have picked up about your depo injection. I tend to have a big dose of these threads then nothing for days, all depending on/around work, and clearly missed that key kernel of info! Hope you get peace of mind with this soon, and the pain goes too. Period pain sucks. Day 1 is always paracetamol + ibuprofen for me. Flowers

Sorry you've had a stressful few days, @NumbsMet. Definitely harder to stick to it when the shit hits the fan in other areas of life. You've done brilliantly to stick with it, and hopefully the tough days are well and truly behind you now.

NumbsMet · 07/07/2020 14:24

I certainly hope so too Smile thank you @Eggbound

Rshard · 07/07/2020 14:46

Someone send me a halo, I’m sat in the car while dd and dh are eating McDonald’s.

Takingontheworld · 07/07/2020 15:05

Rshard.. its a killer but worth it! When i lost a good few more lbs after doing the same i knew i was making waves! Well done xxxxx

MrsKoala · 07/07/2020 17:26

I have just made my new boob choice appointment for end of July. I have to go along and try various sizes in a crop top to see what I like. I also have to take photos of boobs I like and boobs I don’t like Confused I have no idea where to even start researching that. I’m scared to google ‘pictures of boobs’ Shock

Even more excitingly I have an all day hair appointment for tomorrow. Atm it’s very grey and all scraped up into a high bun and spray painted brown. This is the longest I’ve gone between colours since I was 15 I think. I’m having roots done twice (very stubborn grey against very dark brown) and ombré (possibly twice - takes a lot to lift my colour), toners and a cut where I get my essential wrinkle hiding fringe back, hurrah!! I am quite giddy with anticipation Grin

BrassicaBabe · 07/07/2020 17:55

Yeah for boob shopping MrsK! I share your hair appt excitement also. I've got to wait int next week yet

Rshard · 07/07/2020 17:58

Thanks takingontheworld!

How exciting mrskoala!

Laska2Meryls · 07/07/2020 18:26

taking did you put on weight with the Depo injection?

I am well past meno now, but it was having depo in my 40s which started my biggest weight gain, I put on 2 stone really quickly and it was impossible to lose it until I stopped having the injections (about a year later)

The silly thing was that I wasn't using it for contraception ( having n been sterilizer some years earlier , but because I was having horrendous periods) .

I think I now have a 'body memory' of that weight gain because now when I put on weight , I put on 2 stone and seem to stabilise at that .

Laska2Meryls · 07/07/2020 18:30

OOH MrsK is that enhancement or reduction?
I have wanted a reduction for years . But I have been convinced to learn to love mine now ( I am hoping it s working, Its been better since I started wearing comfy - and pretty supportive Tu crop tops instead of horrid bras )

Laska2Meryls · 07/07/2020 18:33

I am having stir fried turkey breast cabbage and mushrooms this evening. DH is still away ( and will be for the week ) so no 'Real dinner' needs to be prepared . (In case you are wondering he does do his fair share of the cooking and is supportive) .. ..

Was cheesy scrambled eggs for brunch

Smile
MrsKoala · 07/07/2020 18:45

It’s technically called and augmentation and lift I suppose. But it’s because they are wonky after 8 years of pregnancy and breast feeding only from one side. So it will be bigger on one side to balance them and a lift on the other and correcting an inverted nipple (which is why I couldn’t feed from that side). My concern is convincing them I don’t want to go big. Just even and a bit fuller where the volume has been lost on one side. I’ve had a few consultations and they see my broad frame and say ooh you need to go much bigger to balance you out. I say I don’t want big boobs as I’m already broad enough around the back at 40inches - I’d never get a coat around me if I went much bigger (And I don’t want to buy new clothes). Also my waist is 28 so I’d look totally top heavy. I’m going to have to be very direct about it. It doesn’t help that my liaison nurse has clearly had the biggest boob job I’ve ever seen in real life, so I’m trying to say ‘not massive - like yours’ without saying I don’t like her boobs. It’s a minefield. I wonder if Debretts has a chapter about navigating oneself around this situation? Grin

MrsKoala · 07/07/2020 19:13

I’m so glad I’ve done BC first tho, as if I was 10lb heavier I might be tempted to go bigger to match the curves. But now I’m slimmer and more athletic looking I can see really what will suit my shape.

Hopeislost · 07/07/2020 19:42

Ooh @MrsKoala I am jealous of the hair makeover! and the boob lift I have a hair cut booked and can't wait to get my fringe back too!

ealingwestmum · 07/07/2020 20:11

That's a really helpful article on gallbladder BIWI, and has made me feel a lot better.

@Eggbound I can only talk from personal experience, having had my gallbladder out at 36, after many many years of suffering, and in particular, triggered by high fat food like butter.

Now at 52, and having lurked and followed this bunch since Dec 2019, I have lost circa 18 - 20lbs, mainly gained from creep year on year, and more recently accelerated by menopause. I am in maintain mode now with around 4lbs tolerance up/down, but at the start, couldn't quite get into proper ketosis so fell naturally into moderate high fat, LC. Possibly because I was also too scared to go all in (and then found out I didn't need to from here!)

I eat all fats including butter. eggs daily, combined with lots of green veg and now able to control the frequency/portion size of 'tastier' carbs, for me which were pasta, rice and bread . Whilst still having the crappy menopause to deal with, I feel so much better and no longer suffer from any of the gall bladder troubles. Your mum should consult with her GP, even though I personally have gone against my own GP's views as I have an arse of one that doesn't get this way of eating. At all.

nowlook · 07/07/2020 20:20

@MrsKoala

Happy to send you a picture of mine to include in your "don't want" pile 🤣

Must feel great to be doing something about it!

PissPotPourri · 07/07/2020 20:24

Hi all! I bootcamped waaay back when for a good half year...thinking mayby 2017? Lost a stone of baby weight then plateaued at 10.5 stone (I'm 5 ft 9)and fell off the wagon completely on a camping trip to Wales when the lure of cold beer was too strong.
Anyway, 2 weeks ago I realised my comfy shorts were no longer comfy and decided something had to be done.
I started again last Monday so on day 10 now and am very chuffed to be 10lb down.
However, I've approached it all a bit more keto-focussed this time and have logged foods and counted carbs and calories, trying to stay under 30g carbs a day. The first 3 days I WAS RAVENOUS and even made the unwitting mistake of going running with a friend which turned out to be like one of those nightmares where you need to catch up with someone and your feet are like lead. I could barely move! Googled when I made it home and realised what a durrrbrain I'd been.
Anyway, koko and have now reached the full up stage when I'm struggling to fancy the required fat. Had cottage cheese with bovril for breakfast, fried eggs and padron peppers for lunch and roast chicken with tenderstem broccoli, mayonnaise and kale chips for tea. I feel that full now that i fully expect to have put everything back on again. I suspect I should not eat if I'm feeling like that and listen to my body?
Anyway, wanted to say hi and that Im so glad and thankful you're all still here. What a fantastic resource you are BIWI et al.

PissPotPourri · 07/07/2020 20:35

Oops...re read! 10 days in and 8lb down Blush

Abeilles · 07/07/2020 20:45

Evening all!
Thought I'd check in and share my menu for today following your advice yesterday (seems longer ago - what a long week this is already!).

After a dreadful night's sleep - foxes and dogs who bark at foxes at 1am, 3am and 4.30am - I had to have a coffee and cream at 6.30 this morning or I don't think I would have survived my 8am Teams call!

Apart from that thought I think I had a good day with the menu.

Lunch at 1pm - avocado, cherry toms and chilli with olive oil

Dinner - meatballs in passata and spinach

Water - still got a pint to go before I hit target but nearly there.

I will shift this plateau if it's the last thing I do!
