Morning all.

So we're entering the last four weeks. Still time to lose a good few pounds before we reach the end.

here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I can see already that we've had some great results, and look forward to seeing/hearing about the rest!

have one more week and then we're going to the seaside and I really don't think I can resist the call of the ice cream parlour all week!

Sure you can, csa. You’re doing great. Keep doing it.

Morning all. Some great stuff this week and I’d like to say that the weekly weigh-in has changed my relationship with Monday mornings. Mostly positive check-ins, which is uplifting and motivating, but also incredibly supportive.

For those who commented on my 61lb loss on the last thread, yep, 61lbs. And it feels great.

Still 30lbs to go (so 2 stones and a bit, or 13-14 kg for those who think in those terms) before I scrape the top of healthy BMI for my height. But I’m 2/3 of the way through my goal and it’s taken a while, but I have always, always KOKO in one way or another.

If I ever go off piste it’s only for a day or week, absolutely maximum. I never, even when I’m holiday, say “I’m just going to eat the way I used to.” Because that led to dangerously poor health—both physical and mental—and untold misery.

Please keep that in mind if it helps at all. This isn’t a diet. This is a way of eating that you might currently be using to lose weight, but when you get to where you want to be, it is still a way of rating for life.

Don’t go back to sugar, regularly, in any of its forms. Sugar is the devil.

Hello, a lurker who is delurking because I'm in need of help. I've been quietly following bootcamp but not been posting. However, I've now not lost any weight since 12 June. I'm at a loss as to what I'm doing wrong so wondered if I posted below what I've eaten I could have some feedback. Any ideas welcomed as it's really getting to me!

Brunch:

two boiled eggs with delouis mayo. Or Home made guacamole with ham slices.

Dinner (around 5-6pm):
Half a duck leg with a salad covered in oil.
Pork belly with homemade coleslaw
Homemade chilli with cheese
Roasted skin on chicken thighs with spinach and broccoli drenched in butter

Normally have 3-4 coffees with cream too.

Water: 2-3 litres a day

@1WildTeaParty This is what the Scottish virus looks like - and we swat it away like we do with midges Grin or we wear our obligatory tartan face masks! Plus if any 'foreign' viruses come we play our bagpipes at them and they run away with their hands over their ears enough of the stereotypes

No indoor pubs or restaurants, but tbh a hug with dgc is worth so much more than a drink in a pub...

Abeilles

I suppose some of it depends how much you have to lose, how long you've been doing this for, what your eating habits were before.

Two things strike me, one is that you're not eating very much overall and sometimes actually eating a bit more is more effective (I'm assuming that your dinner list is either or, not all of them at once Grin). Plus it doesn't look like (in general) you're having a lot of veg. I'd up the veg and maybe cut back on the cream in your coffee.

BIWI · 06/07/2020 12:58

Hi @Abeilles! Glad we've lurked you away from lurking! Grin

Absolutely what @venusandmars has said - we need to know a bit more.

How much do you weigh/how tall are you? What was your diet like before you started?

@Onefootintherave - from your post on the last thread:

I have had a static week with the scales. No huge cheating, just a bottle of red wine this weekend and a very few carby treats. Not a lot, like a half of a mini bite sized pork pie, about 4 Doritos, one small can of beer (did not enjoy and will not be doing that again) a few squares of 90% cocoa organic chocolate and the worst, about 10 tiny, home-made cinnamon cookies. I did a load of walking and swimming as well though but hey! I guess my carb tolerance is not so high and I am back on the wagon for the week now

Oh, I had a couple of Campari sodas too, might choose one or the other next weekend, Campari soda OR wine, NOT both!

No huge cheating - really?!!! I'd love to see what your idea of cheating is then!

All those little bits and pieces will have added up, I'm afraid. But you haven't gained, which is a positive.

Thanks BIWI, for the pulled pork recipe. On the meal list for Saturday evening.

Love the image of the Scottish virus venus!

Welcome abeilles

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 06/07/2020 13:36

Thanks BIWI for keeping this going.

Good loss for me this week (period came at last so may have something to do with it). Down 3.7lbs to 9stone 5.8.

There's even a slim chance at this rate I'll hit my long term goal weight of 9 stone this boot camp.

But.... I'm going away for a long weekend this weekend and plan to fully relax this WOE for the duration. Apart from 2 days at Easter I've been very good since February. Not had an ice cream all year!

I'll try to make a few sensible choices as I go but won't be thinking about food choices except for what's tasty!

Abeilles · 06/07/2020 13:39

Thanks all.

Yes, only one of those meals is my dinner not all at once (maybe in the past ...)

Im 10 1/2 stone and 5ft 1 so still a bit to lose before I fit into the NHS healthy range. Ideally I'd like to lose 10-14lbs which would then give me a margin to fluctuate within when I get to maintaining.

I started bootcamp a week before the official one and I lost 1.5-3lbs each week until 12 June when everything stopped.

I could try eating more but I'm not massively hungry and I've got myself into the headspace where because I'm not losing any weight as it is, the thought of eating more is scary as I'm convinced I would put weight on.

Having written down what I'm eating I can see that I'm woefully low on veg, and I really need to up my quota.

Coffee and cream I had a feeling could be causing the problem but I was holding on to it for dear life as I do so love my coffee and cream.

Abeilles · 06/07/2020 13:42

Oh and my diet was fairly ok before I joined bootcamp. I had been doing weight watchers so was eating pretty healthily but carb heavy.

Thanks for the reality check!

It was a special weekend. I suppose in my mind, serious cheating would have been full-sized portions of chips, spuds, rice or pasta. I won't be drinking beer again and the mini cinnamon cookies were lovely but not worth it.

Back on the wagon now. I made that super quick mayo with the stick blender that someone posted on an earlier thread. FABULOUS and with a bit more garlic it's alioli! Grin

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 06/07/2020 13:52

@shagmeriggins I'm not ignoring your points or advice about this being a woe to stick to. As a vegetarian though, anything that involves eating out would be impossible or just too miserable to stick to if I'm away.

Find me a lchf veggie meal in a rural English pub or Italian village (next month) and I'll stick to the woe but it's just not feasible I'm afraid.

Freetodowhatiwant · 06/07/2020 14:29

Hello all, STS this week which isn't bad as I had a couple of cheats and also now AF due so feeling rubbish on top of a lot of stuff going on in life. Will be trying harder this week.

nowlook · 06/07/2020 14:47

@ThinkAboutItTomorrow

Yes, I noticed that the veggie menu in my very rural pub was immensely carby at the weekend. It was basically larger portions of all the stuff that were side dishes and that us omnivores could leave.

@Abeilles
Bees!
Anyway. Are your clothes getting looser even if the scales aren't moving? What oil are you using? Kidney beans in that chili? I feel there must be hidden carbs somewhere, given you're also doing some IF. And are you absolutely sure you're drinking that level of water?

The hive mind (snigger) will get to the bottom of it!

wow, just WOW! 61lbs off is incredible. 2/3 of the way there. I am so impressed. And your points about the physical and mental poor health and impact of ongoing sugar (over) consumption are spot on and definitely worth remembering. Brilliant and inspiring post. Thank you @ShagMeRiggins

For me I DEFINITELY feel so much better. More energy, lighter mood, more of an ability to deal with the shit life can throw.

I am really grateful to have found this WOE but more importantly this group and so happy to hear there is always an ongoing thread to help with staying on the straight and narrow

BIWI · 06/07/2020 14:52

@Abeilles

I wouldn't worry about trying to eat more (in terms of meals/quantities - but I would focus on more veg/salad).

I see you're not eating breakfast - are you fasting? If that's when you're drinking your coffee with cream, then that would mean you're not - can you try going without any cream until you have your brunch, so you're extending your fasting window?

OP posts:
nowlook · 06/07/2020 14:54

Just another pound for me, but it was week 4 for me so I know the drill.

BUT I can now see my collarbone and expect a flash of ribs provided I stand at a certain angle in front of a forgiving mirror within the next few weeks.

@Rshard I think @BrassicaBabe inadvertently invited the Derbyshire massive to Lincs in the last thread. Road trip? Grin (and you @devoncreamtea- not sure where you're from but it's probably nearby given you've asked DH if he's in a mard...)

8Track · 06/07/2020 15:33

@AthelstaneTheUnready Ever so sorry, but could you add me to the spreadsheet please? I can't update the names column as it says its protected. I'm starting at 196lb / 89kg.

Thanks heaps!

MrsKoala · 06/07/2020 15:38

Hi all. 1lb on for me. Which is better than the 2.5lb it was mid week. So I’m 11st 12 which tbh is about right for me. I’d love 11st 7 just for my arse really, but the rest of me is fine so I’ll just have to do some tuchus targeted squats and live with it.

As I’m pretty happy the way I am I’m going to focus on maintaining and maybe losing a bit more if possible. Might start introducing more berries and tomatoes etc to see what happens.

Abeilles · 06/07/2020 15:40

Definitely hitting my water intake.
No kidney beans or anything on the red list hidden in my chilli. I use butter when I cook, and olive oil in my salads.

Yes, I am trying to do intermittent fasting but I am also having 2 or 3 coffees with cream before I eat brunch. Didn't grasp that was breaking the fast. Will try black coffee from tomorrow and see how I get along with that. All about re education I suppose (quietly sobbing at loss of coffee with cream when I wake up!).

Will get on with adding FLGV into my daily meal plan.

prettybird · 06/07/2020 15:54

Really must get on to the spreadsheet and log my weights Blush

I need a bit of accountability as the lack of glugging water over the last few days has had a deleterious effect on the scales Sad that and the couple of sourdough (discard) brownies that I made and decided that I HAD to taste Blush

Wink

I did go for a 6km run today, after doing the Shred Halo

Takingontheworld · 06/07/2020 16:00

I just made chilli and the tin of beans looked so small I just thought, ah those will be easy enough to pick them out.

Bastards took forever. Will have to separate mine out again in future!

prettybird · 06/07/2020 16:08

I separate out "my" chili mince before putting in the kidney beans for dh/ds. It's actually rather nice served with spinach microwaved with butter and chopped garlic Smile
