Morning all.

So we're entering the last four weeks. Still time to lose a good few pounds before we reach the end.

here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I can see already that we've had some great results, and look forward to seeing/hearing about the rest!

@Rshard
Thanks! Just put an order in for the DC for next week (and also registered to be a taster-did you see that on their website?)

nowlook · 11/07/2020 17:10

@devoncreamtea
How was the interview yesterday? Been thinking about you and your literacy!

MrsKoala · 11/07/2020 17:17

@ealingwestmum how long have you lived near Ealing Broadway? I used to work in the pub opposite the station when it was called the Better Half (25 years ago Shock ). Then I worked at the Rose and Crown which is closer to South Ealing. I went in the other day and it’s so posh now. Not like the sticky floored boozer it was in my time. I had many a marriage proposal from postmen in there Grin

@nowlook that ceremony does sound like a sitcom farce. I can’t believe what we’ve been reduced to endure with a straight face.

Been trying to sell Fils flat as he’s now in a nursing home and we put it on last Sept. But October was Brexit, December a general election, Christmas and new year, more Brexit and then Covid so we’ve had no interest. Had the first viewing this week and turned up to find the walls and ceiling covered in frigging mould from a massive roof leak. Suffice to say they didn’t want to buy the flat and now I’ve got the rigmarole of getting the rubbish management company (who assured us the roof was fixed before we had it completely redecorated in Sept) to sort it out and then get it decorated again - which they won’t pay for. I was hoping the stamp duty holiday would encourage some first time buyers so we could finally sell it and then get the work we need doing done on our house. Angry

Checking in, loving the chat! Having a naughty week, food completely faithful to Bootcamp, alcohol not so good (sorry, BIWI). Tonight going on a date with DH to our favourite restaurant, having a G & T whilst getting ready, it is going down very naicely, but I am merry already - hope I don't disgrace myself (DH is sadly used to it).

nowlook · 11/07/2020 17:46

@SparklesAllOver
After one G&T? You sure? 🤣

Have a great evening!

nowlook · 11/07/2020 17:49

@MrsKoala
Don't ruin Ealing for me. I'm also thinking of the rose and crown and realising it's been 22 years. Old gimmer alert.

Jiminny · 11/07/2020 17:53

@BIWI hi, not sure if you saw my answer to your question earlier but, as you might've seen, I have around 4 and a half stone to lose. At my weight shouldn't I lose more quickly?

SparklesAllOver · 11/07/2020 18:04

Thank you, nowlook, ok, I admit I am on my second now and I pour huge measures! Poor DH is teetotal too! Grin.

ealingwestmum · 11/07/2020 18:20

Thank you Rshard; we'll try. Get to take doggo along so forfeiting overseas travel has its plus sides!

Been here 25 years Mrs K (miscalculating cotswolds earlier to 1980's not 90's, it's all so long ago!).

Love the fact that so many of you are familiar with this part of London! It still has its fair mix of gritty but trying to be more gentrified as Cross-rail gets nearer. Shame to lose the former though - there's something very heartwarming about hearing posties propose in a spit and sawdust boozer. Multiple times Grin. Friendly folk here for London though, that's for sure. All the best with getting the flat back to saleable condition to re-focus on your own renovations MrsK.

Jiminny, hang in there, I may not have had as much to lose from start but it did take a while (a couple of weeks) for anything to move, and something then just clicked. And remembering the damn water...

Jiminny · 11/07/2020 18:24

@ealingwestmum thanks I'm guzzling it today!

Rshard · 11/07/2020 19:39

Excellent nowlook! I hadn’t realised it was possible to become a taster! I’m sure dd will want to sign up for that.

Have a great date night sparkles.

Lovely that you can take your doggy on your break ealingwestmum

OVienna · 11/07/2020 20:23

Thanks 8Track

devoncreamtea · 11/07/2020 20:27

Thanks for thinking of me nowlook 😊 I did get the post - 0.8 so 1 day off and additional training in dyslexia support. I’m pleased!
So so tired as on Dartmoor last night and it was freezing. Never been so cold and didn’t sleep a wink!!! Plus - took my son for a quick wild wee during the night and he weed on my warm socks so I had to take them off!!!🥶

venusandmars · 11/07/2020 20:52

Great news devoncreamtea (the job, not the wee'd on socks!)

Struggling with the scales and not losing at all. Not enough water, definitely, possibly too much dairy currently watching the sunset with a glass of wine and a hunk of cheese My dsis is coming to stay in 3 weeks time, need to lose some of the tummy before that. She is stick thin and has always looked disapprovingly at my much rounder body.

Rshard · 11/07/2020 21:20

Congratulations devoncreamtea!

MrsKoala · 11/07/2020 22:10

@ealingwestmum I was brought up in Chiswick and Brentford so I know Ealing well. My parents moved to Gunnersbury/Kew when I moved out.
Friendly folk here for London though I’m biased of course but I think Londoners are generally friendly (just not chatty) but I do think West Londoners are the friendliest.

Yesterday I weighed myself and had put on 2lb to be 12st :( then I went to the loo and after I was 11st 11lb Shock Blush I only go about once every 4-5 days now so I’m only weighing after I’ve been in future. Sorry tmi I know.

Laska2Meryls · 12/07/2020 06:26

Grrr lost a post last night just as I was about to send it , then gave up.
But anyway it was saying that I have had a pretty strict week as with DH being away Its easier just to have something simple like fish and courgettes and not bother with anything else. Ive bern following 16:8 .but have been eating some berries ( mostly as breakfast ), and they dont seem to be problematic.
Anyway yesterday I made spicy chicken wings ( we are lucky enough to get local free range chicken, so they are big) using Barts fajita spice mix (which is sugar free, a lot of the package ones are not btw) . So spicy and crispy .. had those with salad , forgoed the salsa .. yum yum.
Ihave also continued to avoid alcohol, so all I have had in the last 7weeks is 1 glass of white and 1 red on Saturday and Sunday last week . Major achievement for me !
Scales are down I am🤞they still will be tomorrow.. but I am definitely fitting onto a lot of my smaller summer stuff now Smile..

BrassicaBabe · 12/07/2020 09:55

I've dropped 3lb over night. BUT it's dehydration! I jumped off the wagon last night on day 35 and had a drink. (Wine and gin) I've said it before, I'll say it again. I AM NOT A MODERATOR GrinSad Man alive I feel like crap!! Definitely back on the wagon today EnvyEnvy(we all know that's not envy!)

Nice one one the job front Devon

BIWI · 12/07/2020 12:11

@Jiminny

Morning. I'm starting day 6 of this (started Monday) and my scales have stayed the same. Is that common? I thought I'd see something by now. I'm posting yesterday's food below to get feedback.

I know about the sweeteners, and will cut out all Diet Coke and tonic water today, and switch exclusively to water. But could those alone have prevented weight loss? Or is it just a bit early in the process. I really would've thought I'd notice something by now.

B plain full fat yogurt+ 3 coffees with almond milk (+sweetener)
L salmon, egg, green beans, salad leaves, spring onions, mayonnaise
D salmon, green beans and asparagus in butter

Snacks: 2 hard boiled eggs, 3 bags of cheesies (0 carbs)

Negatives: I drank a lot of Diet Coke and diet tonic water.

Hi @Jiminny

Yes, I would have expected you to see some progress in a week - but it's impossible to be certain or guarantee what should happen!

A lot of it depends on what your diet was like before, how often you're dieting, etc.

Looking at your menu for one day, that all looks OK to me - although it's difficult to tell quite how much fat you're eating. What about the other days' food? It's hard to tell just looking at one day.

BUT

Where's your water?! And why are you using sweeteners? That's not allowed on Bootcamp.

There's all sorts of conflicting information about artificial sweeteners, but there is some suggestion that they 'trick' the body into thinking it's getting sugar, and so can spike an insulin response - which is what we're trying to avoid.

... so definitely cut those out!

Thanks for all the congrats! 😊

Wowzers mrskoala that is an impressive movement 🤣

35 days is a fantastic effort Brassicababe. Well done! Hope you feel less vile soon. I reckon the reconfiguring of relationships with alcohol take a long time. You’ve done 35 days and a blow out was probably inevitable once you lifted the bar on it. But now you can move towards creating habits that you prefer. I’m not a moderator either by nature (with anything!!!) but I DO believe it’s possible to learn to be. Flowers

This has to be the most interesting thread on mumsnet - all life is here.
Clearly success in losing weight is about the whole person.

BlusteryShowers · 12/07/2020 13:28

Well I've been terrible for the last fortnight and really paying for it. Scales today say I've put 5lb back on. I can feel it as well.

I've realised that as lockdown is lifting and we're seeing people a bit more, I'm feeling embarrassed to be eating differently, as though it draws more attention to my weight. This has meant accepting carby food out of some wierd feeling of politeness and not wanting to be conspicuous. The knock on of this has unfortunately been a case of the fuck-it's and there have been treats in the house because of my son's birthday.

DH is also doing some construction work in the garden on his days off, which means that I'm in sole charge of the children pretty much all day every day so exercise has ground to a halt.

Looking forward...

Meals planned
DS starting back at nursery two days per week so resume pavement pounding with DD's pram.

I've started today with a halloumi salad and lots of water. When DH gets up soon (been on night shift) I am going to go out for some exercise.

Do you not think you're worth it?

If you were a coeliac you'd be eating a different diet from other people, and I bet you wouldn't feel embarrassed about that!

Don't accept carby food if you don't want to. I absolutely get that sometimes you can't avoid it, and there are certain circumstances where it would be impolite to refuse - but don't eat it just because you feel other people will be judging you in some way.

Thanks BIWI - I do know what your username stands for too Smile!

It's ridiculous isn't it? It's annoyed me in hindsight because I have, for instance completely dropped my sugar in coffee, and have told them why this is. But then they'll do me a ("just a little") slice of cake to go with it or a round of bacon rolls for lunch and it feels embarrassing to keep bringing it up.

You are very right.
