I thought it would be helpful to have a thread showing other low carbers/Bootcampers some low carb products that you've found. Photos, so we can spot them when we go shopping - but also photos of the nutritional data so we know how many carbs per serving they contain.

I've got two that I'm going to start the thread with, firstly Bare Naked noodles. These are made from konjac flour, and have been part of Japanese cuisine for many years. They're a brilliant replacement for noodles in stir fries or soups - and can be used instead of spaghetti (although not quite as successfully!). But they are very, very low in carbs (and calories) so can be a really useful thing to have in your cupboard. They aren't cheap though, at around £2 a pack (which will serve 2), so probably best if you're using them to make everyone else who's eating ordinary noodles/pasta!

The other thing to beware of is that when you open the packet (they're in water) they smell fishy. Rinse them well in fresh water, and that will deal with that - they really don't taste fishy.

Ignore the roasted garlic mayo above, I'm right and they're wrong!

Hello,

Delighted to find your new roasted garlic mayonnaise at my local Tesco and am looking forward to trying it, but was just slightly suspicious of the nutritional info on the label.

It states 0g of carbohydrates per 100g, but sugar is listed as the fourth ingredient. I was under the impression that ingredients have to be listed in order of proportion on labels, so if sugar is fourth, between eggs second (noted as 10%) and garlic powder seventh (2%), does that not mean there should be a carb content of over 1%? Or have I misunderstood something?

Many thanks, VeryLittleOwl

Good morning VeryLittleOwl,

Thank you very much for raising this – we have reviewed this nutritional calculation and have noticed an error in the carbohydrate content. We are currently working to re-calculate this, and will be updating the labels when they are next printed.

Thank you again for highlighting this & we hope you enjoyed your Roasted Garlic Mayonnaise.

Mr. Porky crispy strips are really nice. They are lighter version of pork crackling, but dont have the fatty lumps and bristly bits that put some people off.

Ugly water isn't bad if you're looking for a flavoured fizzy drink without sugar or sweeteners. You can get a similar or better (and cheaper) result just by sticking a fruit tea bag in a bottle of sparkling water but sometimes it's handy/nice to be able simply buy a can of drink.

From Waitrose today. Fruit infused sparkling water, no sugar or sweeteners. tastes a bit like cold raspberry tea, but less sweet and with bubbles. A very nice change from water Grin

There's a code for lo dough at the moment.

TRYLODOUGH

gets you the 2 pack for £1, then £1.99 postage.

MrsGarethSouthgate · 15/10/2019 20:59

I think this is okay...

Have just mixed it with some Greek yoghurt for breakfast tomorrow. It gives it a slightly tart (but not too sharp) orange taste (and contains even more fat which should be a good thing???)

Great thread!

I have one to add, found this in Waitrose today, great for a little snack - I had one today as part of a larger lunch.

2.7g carbs, 5.7g fat per pack. And tastes good too!

@Glenthebattleostrich thanks for the lo dough code, I’ve got a pack ordered ready to make myself pizza at the weekend!

Batshittery · 13/11/2019 18:42

Glen thank you for the code. I have ordered some Lo Dough today and got the discount. Thanks

Just discovered Itsu seaweed thins. They are definitely an acquired taste but I loved them. They give a real flavour punch and are great for when you get snack cravings.

I think this is my favourite ever Mumsnet thread!!! I’ve made a list of things to try.

Lowcarbbarb · 27/11/2019 12:40

A while ago I looked at the carbs in most of Asda’s curry sauces. The Pataks Dopiaza sauce was one of the lowest I found (I didn’t look at the very hot ones). I add a bit of Onken set plain yoghurt and some roasted veg along with my chicken, makes a very tasty quick tea!

Also this is one of the few mayos I’ve found without sugar. It’s quite mustardy but nice

Also the TRYLODOUGH code just worked for me - 2 pack for £1 instead of £3.99, and £1.99 postage (also ordered the brownie mix, I’ll report back!!)

CarterJ32 · 04/12/2019 13:59

Amazing thread, thanks all!!!

KondoKonvert · 04/01/2020 20:10

I don't think these have been shared yet. Very tasty, hence the empty packet Blush
