I thought it would be helpful to have a thread showing other low carbers/Bootcampers some low carb products that you've found. Photos, so we can spot them when we go shopping - but also photos of the nutritional data so we know how many carbs per serving they contain.

I've got two that I'm going to start the thread with, firstly Bare Naked noodles. These are made from konjac flour, and have been part of Japanese cuisine for many years. They're a brilliant replacement for noodles in stir fries or soups - and can be used instead of spaghetti (although not quite as successfully!). But they are very, very low in carbs (and calories) so can be a really useful thing to have in your cupboard. They aren't cheap though, at around £2 a pack (which will serve 2), so probably best if you're using them to make everyone else who's eating ordinary noodles/pasta!

The other thing to beware of is that when you open the packet (they're in water) they smell fishy. Rinse them well in fresh water, and that will deal with that - they really don't taste fishy.

Ah sorry I didn’t realise @BIWI, I’m not so strict now I’m maintaining and find them helpful if I need something quick.

Thanks @WatcherOfTheNight!

I've not seen lo dough before,is it readily available?

BIWI · 13/06/2019 11:44

You have to buy it from their website I believe.

mainly from their website, but some independent stockists

Thanks BIWI Smile

They had sold out the other week due to unprecedented demand! You can sign up and get discount codes for them. I think it’s taken off more than they expected! I had a lo dough pizza for lunch - tiny spread of passata, mozzarella, pepper, mushrooms, black olives and anchovies and it was really nice.

Grimbles · 13/06/2019 21:22

Have you tried the brownies?

BIWI · 13/06/2019 23:12

They look a bit carby though!

Ah well. Luckily I'm not too fussed by chocolatey things!

Someone just needs to invent carb free crisps that taste like crisps and I'll be happy Grin

MrsHerculePoirot · 14/06/2019 16:52

This is what it says. I don’t know what carbs that are polyols means for low carbing though!

Polyols generally can mean digestive discomfort, farting and possibly diarrhoea!

Looking at those carb counts they probably are low carb, but artificial sweeteners and pretty highly processed.

Came across this at Waitrose yesterday. A really good base for making Bolognese. It's 4.9g carbs per 100g, and the pack is 500g, so totals 24.5g carbs.

If you add a pack of Sainsbury's Basics tomatoes, this is an additional 12g carbs, giving a total of 36.5g carbs, and the whole thing, with 400g mince, would easily feed 4 people. (I also added garlic)

Sorry - don't have a photo of the back of the pack because I forgot to take one!

That lo-dough looks good...I’ve send a product request on Ocado for it so maybe they’ll start stocking

BIWI · 24/06/2019 08:29

I've tried the Lo-dough - it was OK but very expensive. Too expensive to have regularly I think. But maybe if they were to get listings in places like Ocado they can make enough such that the price starts to come down

I went to waitrose and bought their supply of celeriac and I also picked up a bag of the sofrito mix. They also do a med veg mix which is 3.1g carb per 100!

Came across these flavoured waters in Sainsbury's yesterday. I'm a bit Confused that we have to import products like this all the way from Australia, but thought I'd give them a try.

They're claiming naturally sweetened - they use a mix of erythritol and stevia, which are apparently classified as natural rather than artificial.

However, I drank some of the coconut and mango one last night and it was very refreshing on such a hot day.

Has anyone mentioned these little beauties yet? They are delicious. I have one before going to the gym and only 5.9g carb each bar

Sorry, they are from Aldi and £1.79 for 4 bars. They are by the breakfast cereals 😊

VeryLittleOwl · 18/07/2019 21:46

Spotted this in Tesco, apparently it's a new line from Wilkin & Sons.

I'm actually suspicious that the label has been mis-printed - how can it have 0g of carbs per 100g when the fourth ingredient is sugar? But I can't find it on the Tiptree website. I'm going to email them and double check, but posting here because it looks delicious and I can't wait to try it!
