Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

Thanks Athelstane for adding me last week.

I've updated today; lost just over 2lbs. Fairly up and down week so that's great! I have also virtually illiminated coffee and tea from my diet (I was drinking maybe 10 cups a day 😳) and am using my new 2.2l water bottle as seen on the thread!

I am tracking my measurements on an app too, so although I'm not seeing any difference in my mirror or clothes, I can see things are heading in the right direction.

My willpower is rubbish when I'm with my boyfriend; he's got perfect bod and can eat anything. He eats a 'normal' healthy diet; carbs, low fat, with the odd bit of processed food. We're on hols next week so it's going to be a challenge. He's v supportive but just doesn't understand lchf. I need to stay away from the bread and potatoes (crisps)!

Loving the thread and all your updates.

Somewhereoverthesanddune · 21/05/2018 10:07

I'm down 2.5kg but weighed in yesterday (which hopefully doesn't get me the stuck) as that's the first day after the weekend for me.

Help needed. Does anyone know Hungarian food? I'm off to Budapest for a long weekend and wondering what I can eat without falling too far off the wagon!

Rshard · 21/05/2018 10:08

But you totally pull it off ilove. I’ve bought some white jeans which I never would have before losing this weight, I’m enjoying being a bit braver in my clothes choices - I bought a leather skirt at Christmas too, love it.

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 21/05/2018 10:10

2.6 ibs for me - which is not bad considering the wine. I am going to try harder with that this week.

farine · 21/05/2018 10:14

@ilovecherries - what an inspiring set of pictures. You look fab and your new hair do is great!

@BIWI or anyone else who can help. I have some chicken thigh fillets but they are skinless - can I still use them? Was planning to make butter chicken curry tonight with roasted cauliflower. Seems a shame to ditch them but I will if they won't help with weight loss.

Lonesurvivor · 21/05/2018 10:17

farine I don't eat chicken with skin on, can't stomach it so when I eat chicken I add fat to it. You could cook them in oil or add cream near the end or just add fat to your meal with mayo/butter.

DramaAlpaca · 21/05/2018 10:18

4.5lb here. I'm very, very happy with that.

Lonesurvivor · 21/05/2018 10:26

cherries the dress is fab, I'm 45 and I'd wear it if (when) I had your figure. I'd wear it if I were much older too.
It's not short, plunging or clingy. You'd get great wear out of it the pattern is lovely.
It's not one of those dresses you could only wear away on holidays and then it's put away for the other 50 weeks of the year.
Your only excuse not to buy is if you've seen something nicer.

As you maybe able to tell another side effect of this diet is my renewed love of fashion. I hadn't realised how much I'd missed buying. Clothes I like rather than what fits and covers up. I'm still a size 18 but there's much more choice in-store for a size 18 than my previous 20/22.

ilovecherries · 21/05/2018 10:32

Survivor, I'm 60. I know what you mean about fashion and style though. In the past, a lot of my clothes came from the Mountain Warehouse men's section. Blush. In 2016 I did Dort myself out a little bit but the choice once you get past size 18 is pretty dire. Now I'm almost fascinated by clothes - have spent a bloody fortune, but the only things that still fit me are earrings and socks! I've even dropped a couple of shoe sizes. I'm wary about bough in case my enthusiasm for clothes means I wear something because I CAN and not because I should. I've spent so long in the clothing wilderness that I've lost sight of what looks right on me.

ThreadPolice · 21/05/2018 10:38

8lb down for me!

Lonesurvivor · 21/05/2018 10:45

I think it looks fab cherries one of those dresses that suits any age and the fit looks perfect which also means a lot.
But think about it because you've got to be comfortable wearing it and not second guessing yourself, I'll bet like myself you've done enough of that when you were larger.

I think the rules for what women wear has changed a lot in recent years and we now dress to suit our bodyshape and preference rather than wearing styles suited to particular age groups.
Obviously we wouldn't be wearing the same as a teens/twenty something year olds on nights out but a lot of other stuff crosses over.

giraffeski · 21/05/2018 10:49

Can I join? A week late so I've popped myself on the bottom of the spreadsheet.
I have done bootcamp before, I was not going to join the thread as I was pregnant but I've just had a miscarriage so I may as well seize the day. I know I have been comfort eating carbs this week which I am super aware of so I want to try and stop that before it becomes a problem.

MrsCoyote · 21/05/2018 10:50

Ilove love the pictures and your story!

I forgot !! to weight in in the morning. I expect some loss but not huge because I am LCHFing since April.

Today I tried to put a tsp of instant coffee to my FF yoghurt - it was good.

I feel good, better than before, but not exactly full of energy. I get really sleepy about 9.30 pm and fall asleep very quickly… has it something to do with LC?

Destinysdaughter · 21/05/2018 10:50

Some great losses here, well done! 😀

FlowinElla · 21/05/2018 10:51

Congrats everyone on your success! Even if, like me, there was no change - this is my 3rd week and I know to not expect linear weight loss. I still feel better on LCHF, and happy that I am doing something positive for my health.

Fab pics, cherries! You look great, and it's an amazing achievement! I have a similar comparison pic from 15 months of low carbing and 5 1/2 st loss, but I can't share it here because I'm currently a stone heavier than at the "after" pic. Blush. And that's why I'm here, on BC.

MrsCoyote · 21/05/2018 10:52

Fab results everybody!

maxthemartian · 21/05/2018 10:53

@ilovecherries 60!! I had you down as mid thirties from those pictures.

Twoo · 21/05/2018 10:54

Giraffeski Flowers

I wish you joining wasnt under such tragic circumstances Sad

AthelstaneTheUnready · 21/05/2018 10:55

sorry to hear that, Giraffe, and of course it's not too late.

MrsBertBibby · 21/05/2018 10:58

There's nothing to think about Cherries, it looks fabulous!

MrsBertBibby · 21/05/2018 10:59

Welcome aboard Giraffski. I'm so sorry about your news,

SummerRayne17 · 21/05/2018 11:04

Well done to everyone on these fantastic loses! If you didn't lose then please don't despair, I'm sure you will make up for it this week. Have faith 🙏

@UnimaginativeUsername crikey, that's a huge loss! Well done. I bet you can see a massive difference already?

@BIWI Thank you for the new thread and all the advice you are dishing out. I'm finding it hard yo keep up with this thread but you are doing a sterling job! 💐

I am feeling really positive about this 2nd week, i managed to refuse alcohol and ice cream over the weekend and stuck with my meal plan regardless of what DH and kids were having. My only confession is that I did succumb to a minuscule mini brownie (about the size of a 10p!) and i did feel guilty afterwards. Tasted nice though! 🙈

Good luck all this week!

Welcome giraffe, sorry to hear your news

2.5 lbs up for me - just have to KOKO sigh: so now I am one pound up from where I started a month ago Sad

Apart from the hideous levels of stress (currently sofa-surfing, left job, court case) all I can think is that I'm not drinking my full 4.5L of water, and I did have both a matchbox of cheese and a portion of yoghurt on Saturday (veggie)

I'm just crossing my fingers that in a few weeks time, I'll lose a stone in seven days Grin
