Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

stuntnun said and it will be predominantly the dangerous visceral fat from around the organs
So I should be reassured? If still got 10-14 lbs to get to the middle of a healthy BMI (I MAY have moaned about this before Hmm) and it feels like that stone is distributed down my front (boobs and belly). I keep fretting that even after all this work, I still have loads of visercal fat. But it sounds as if you actually lose visercal fat preferentially? I keep thinking about TOFI people, and wondering if that's me, because I still haven't got my waist to less than half my height.

Lonesurvivor · 21/05/2018 12:27

time well done you look amazing.
flowingElla of course you can share you're still over four stone lighter and you're on your way back to that after pic.

Eolian · 21/05/2018 12:46

time - you look fantastic! Cherries - no way are you 60?! That dress really suits you tbh.

What's everyone having for lunches. I'm often at home for lunch and usually make myself a big salad, but am struggling as to what protein items to have with it. Usually don't want eggs as I'm having them for breakfast a lot. Trying to avoid processed meat. Atm it's always tuna or cheese and I'm definitely eating too much of the latter. What else can I have?

farine · 21/05/2018 12:58

@TimeIhadaNameChange you look fabulous! How much have you lost overall? Have you stuck to LCHF constantly?

farine · 21/05/2018 12:59

@giraffeski really sorry you had a miscarriage and are joining in sad circumstances

MrsBertBibby · 21/05/2018 13:01

Do you need specific protein each meal?

My lunch is usually leaves, avocado, and a little cheese (Cornish Quartz cheddar) broken over, with garlic oil (soz to afternoon clients).

UnimaginativeUsername · 21/05/2018 13:09

@giraffeski I’m really sorry to hear your reasons for being on bootcamp. Flowers

SummerRayne17 · 21/05/2018 13:17

@giraffeski i'm sorry for your loss, i have been there myself and it's hard 💐

SummerRayne17 · 21/05/2018 13:20

@Eolian for lunch today I've had tuna, ff mayo and avocado mixed together and spooned in to lettuce leaves as an alternative wrap. Really tasty! 😋

Giraffeski · 21/05/2018 13:24

Thanks guys.
I really want to do it this time. No more fucking about.

ItsalmostSummer · 21/05/2018 13:33

2.2 loss here. I thought I might lose more but I’m also pretty happy with that as I have stuck with it and said no to loads of foods I’d normally eat. My belly has gone down too. It’s no longer so bloated. I am happy with that, so this week it’s KOKO ... all the best everyone!

AromaticSpices · 21/05/2018 13:44

@Eolian I've been enjoying chicken drumsticks, they are easy to buy pre cooked and keep in the fridge (M&S have a pack of about 8/9 for £4) and they're delicious with salad, or egg mayo, cucumber, broccoli, whatever. I dont like the chicken skin so I tend to just have mayo with it

Eolian · 21/05/2018 13:48

Yep I think I need to cook more things like chicken legs in advance so that I've got them ready to eat!

Goodasgoldilox · 21/05/2018 13:48

I am standing in amazement - it does seem to be working for me. (This morning's is the lowest weight I've seen on the scales this week - it does go up and down a bit so it is hard to tell how much I've really lost but I am very happy to record this one.)

This is even though this isn't my first week and I've been lowish on carbs before starting here (I'd lost about 10lb on the low sugar diet in previous weeks).

My short-term aim - to be fit (and light) enough to get up some mountains on a walking holiday in August seems much more reasonable today. I could even think about a healthier and happier future.

Thank-you very much BIWI and all posters!

Well done everyone. Girafski - Flowers

TheGherkin · 21/05/2018 14:09

I smell odd. Most noticeable after exercise. Meaty and kind of like school dinners shepherds pie. It’s not nice.

StuntNun · 21/05/2018 14:17

Cherries with the amount of weight you have lost, and at your current weight I wouldn't expect there to be much visceral fat left. What is your waist:height ratio? There's a useful guide on Wikipedia.

ilovecherries · 21/05/2018 14:26

stunt, that's why it bothers me :(. It's STILL 0.538. Although it is down from 0.735, so that's good.

ilovecherries · 21/05/2018 14:28

Gerkin, I spent most of last May/June complaining about the smell that seemed to be seeping from my pores. It did go eventually (or I just got used to it and everyone else is too polite to tell me).

TimeIhadaNameChange · 21/05/2018 14:32

Thanks so much, everyone! Am amused about the "you look toned" comments - you wouldn't say that if you could see my belly!!!!! But thank you all the same.

farine - I've lost about two and a half stone in the year, gone from a size 14 to 6/8. I've not really lost anything since Mid Feb, but you've just inspired me to look at photos and I think I've lost inches since. It's been a combination of LC and running.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 21/05/2018 14:33

Giraffeski I'm really sorry to hear about your news. I feel like I've been whittering on about trifles and not acknowledging it. Apologies xxx

StuntNun · 21/05/2018 14:42

Cherries do you use intermittent fasting at all? Do you do much exercise, particularly weight-bearing and strengthening exercise? Try the US Navy body fat calculatorr* to estimate your body fat percentage. You need to increase your lean body mass while not necessarily changing your weight to achieve a healthy waist:height ratio.

Twoo · 21/05/2018 14:53

TimeHadaNameChange what a lovely post. I hadn’t read yours as whitening on though and I’m sure others hadn’t either. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

DirtyNell · 21/05/2018 14:55

Wow, well done everyone.
I've been doing BC since before Easter, so I'm delighted to have lost 2.2 this week- I'm now 11.0.8, so the 10's are beckoning.

With regards to waist to height ratio, I always wonder about what affect does tummy muscle separation have on that waist measurement. I had full term, full weight twins - they were 7 and 71/2 pounds each, and I had an 11 finger separation after that. Despite kettle bells and planks, and 11 years, I still have a 2 finger separation, and my tummy looks like an elephant's arse- sad withered skin held up in the middle by a brave belly button!

Perhaps cherries, you had big babies?

RuffleBelly · 21/05/2018 15:03

@giraffeski sorry you are joining under those circumstances. I've been there a couple of times myself; the first time I threw myself into exercise was was slimmer and fitter than I had been in a long time, the second time I threw myself into cake and biscuits. Suffice to say the end result wasn't good and compounded my misery. After both I went on to have two amazing children though.

I'm feeling a bit low this afternoon, can't decide why but the cupboard is calling me - or more accurately my toddler's unfinished bread roll, mini-chedders and hummus. He has eaten the cucumber slices and cubes of cheese...
