Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

Thanks @StuntNun

not giving up at all. i don't count it as a gain until monday anyway and use that as motivation to do better until then.

Good graphs. mine are even more zigzaggy as i weigh daily but it is great to look back and see the overall trend downwards

Incidentally, i don't have periods/ovulation since being on the pill, will i still potentially get weight gain/loss from hormones monthly like some people on here do?

...Goes off to drink another glass of water...

AromaticSpices · 26/05/2018 10:20

Thanks @leapinlizards and @iamnotacerealkiller what fantastic suggestions, thank you so much!! I’ll need to make stuff on the Thursday night, will take to work on Friday and keep in fridge, then either pass to support driver on the Friday or bring with me on the Saturday (day of walk), but if I keep it with me Friday night I can’t refrigerate unless it can squeeze into my hotel fridge. Will play around with the recipes and see what works!

Waswittyonce · 26/05/2018 10:20

I've not shifted the scales either this week, and can't blame TOTM as it is nay but a distant memory for meGrin
However DH commented this morning that the love handles on my back have gone, which is a definite win and hugely encouraging. Plus I feel lots better both physically and psychologically. Was quite depressed last year as we were forced to move from the house we'd lived in for 10 years. We always knew that we would have to go at some point, but we were so happy there, it was a sad time for us and it's taken a long time to settle again. Although are about to have new houses built in the fields all around us which will probably force us to move once again ffs.

Seafour · 26/05/2018 10:48

Thanks for the kind words everyone. My life is just a different kind of normal, I don't have a stressful job to cope with, I have brilliant people who do things for me that I can't do myself. Family around who love me and are very supportive and just see myself as a fat cripple who needs to lose weight.Grin

Gherkin still planning on doing GNR in 2019, I have major spinal surgery this autumn but will hopefully have a quicker recovery than last year. I may have to adapt my plans and wheel for some of it but still plan to walk most of it - very slowly.

Stunt it's nice to know that even the experts can have dinner disasters, it gives us all hope.

Lizards amazing, I would dance round the scales with you but I'd fall flat on my face.

KOKO everyone.

LeapinLizards · 26/05/2018 10:53

@stuntman I wasn't planning to celebrate in case I jinx it & I wake up tomorrow to find that last lb has found me again. I have set a slightly lower target for myself to get to the half stone mark &, once there, I will celebrate.

RedPandaMama · 26/05/2018 10:54

Just checking in. I keep getting lost in the conversation! I'm another 1.6kg down which I've worked out means I'm 11.5lbs down altogether in 2 weeks (I started on the Friday) I'm absolutely over the moon!

I'm going to a festival today, 12pm-12am, not allowed to take any food or drink in with us. Help me make good choices!

I am planning to drink as it's my first proper day/night out in about 18 months! I'm probably going to go for dry white wine I think as whenever I ask for vodka and diet coke they always seem to give normal coke instead of diet.

As for food??? It'll probably be burgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, cheese fries type stuff. I'm thinking maybe burger without the bun - but as it's a festival I won't have a plate or anything to hold it with except my hands, ew.

Justmuddlingalong · 26/05/2018 10:59

Another gain today. 0.6lb. That's 3 days on the bounce. Stamped my foot, but am not going to have a 'fuck it' day. Going to cut back dairy and up fat in the hope of getting things going in the right direction again. Have a great day everyone.

MrsBertBibby · 26/05/2018 11:08

Take some seviettes and wipes, Red Panda

theoldtrout01876 · 26/05/2018 11:16

Well I dropped almost 4lbs as of last Monday. Tuesday I was up 3.5lbs. The scales have barely moved this week. Im still just over a pound more than I was last Monday. I have no idea why. I didnt change anything.
Oh well, its still only 2 weeks so even if I get back to where I was last Monday that will be 2lb a week. I dont intend to give up, even though I feel a bit down about it.

Pebblespony · 26/05/2018 12:57

I'm going away for the night. SIL is cooking a meal. Don't know what I'm going to do. Going for a night out afterwards. I'm not drinking as I promised DH I'd look after the baby in the morning and the last time I did that I had a very slight hangover and it was torture.

MrsBertBibby · 26/05/2018 13:08

I am confessing to a little lick of honey. In my defence, it is honey from my first ever hive which I inspected for the first time just now.

It was yum!

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2018 13:18

Well my persistent pound has finally gone & taken half of one of its friends with it. Yay!

On the down side I had a couple of glasses of prosecco last night celebrating the referendum in Ireland where I live, and I feel so ill today. Serves me right I suppose & lesson learned.

Seafour · 26/05/2018 14:01

For all those looking for food to eat out or while visiting family.
You can always find good food at events, salad and a burger is my go to - just use the bun as a plate, whip out your Swiss Army knife to cut it up and enjoy.

If you're visiting someone tell them you're not eating carbs, give them some suggestions, I usually tell them a green salad with meat or fish is best.

As for drinking alcohol - we shouldn't be doing it at this stage, a big glass of fizzy water with ice and a slice.
Don't let social pressure to conform derail what you're doing.

You all deserve better

Leelaseye · 26/05/2018 14:17

seafour I read that last line as 'you all deserve butter' Grin

Pebblespony · 26/05/2018 15:02

Everyone deserves butter Grin

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2018 15:31

Glad to hear it, I love butter Grin

Rshard · 26/05/2018 16:08

Great, practical advice, thanks seafour

OrlandaFuriosa · 26/05/2018 16:08

Oh dear, much loved nephew and wife came with new baby, pushed the boat out for them and although I didn’t eat eg bread, I fell for fruit, sugar, alcohol etc. And haven’t drunk enough either. So not expecting any weight loss Monday. Weak willed, that’s what I am.

But...I am still full of hope because I know what works!

Onwards and downwards. Here’s to us in sparkling water!

NorthernKnickers · 26/05/2018 16:11

2lb off today, so I'm at 11lb down since the start of bootcamp. I'm really happy with that! I'd LOVE to see another pound off by Monday (to make a nice even number!) but I'd still be happy if I stuck at the 2 for this week. Although I can't 'see' any difference, I can feel it in my clothes with waistbands definitely no longer straining to contain my blubber 😳

Full fat Greek yoghurt has become my new best friend 😂

OrlandaFuriosa · 26/05/2018 16:12

And I’ve realised the sugar highs keep me from sleeping. That is such a helpful thought. And the crashes afterwards mean my depression worsens. And my hangovers now occur with only 1 1/2 glasses of wine! I’m becoming such a cheap date..

OrlandaFuriosa · 26/05/2018 16:13

Northern, that’s excellent! I’m hoping for something like that next week! You inspire me.

ItsalmostSummer · 26/05/2018 16:37

Okay with boot camp lite next week, I have been pondering going BC lite or keeping on keeping on. I am thinking that I need to keep up with what I am doing and keep up my water intake especially. And I quite like this WOE. I am not sure about changing it up too much. Also, I made some pancakes for family recently and accidently took a piece of cooked pancake to nibble on (like I used to). I was surprised that the flour/wheat really smelled (yuck) to me. I actually felt like heaving the minute I ate it and realized my mistake. The response was to the smell and taste. Is that normal?
Has anyone else been thinking about the changes in their eating and what they might do with the lite version next week? I’d love to hear about it.

Justmuddlingalong · 26/05/2018 16:45

I'm going to stick with hard core bootcamp for the next week. Great loss week 1, week 2's been a bit sticky with small gains. So I'll KOKO for the time being.

UnimaginativeUsername · 26/05/2018 16:50

I’m going to stay on full bootcamp next week, I think. Today has been s bit of a disaster, with DS2 insisting that I had to have one of the GF buns with my burger at lunch. I didn’t want him to feel that I was refusing to eat it because I thought it would be horrible. He has to eat GF stuff, so I really don’t want him to feel bad about it. And I’m trying to help him to feel that he can still have totally normal food like burgers.

It was not particularly nice (although we all pretended it was for DS2’s sake), and I actually felt really ropey after eating it. Still do. So I certainly won’t be doing that again. Lettuce for me next time!

Dinner is going to be roast chicken with salad. I have a feeling that I’ll enjoy that a lot more!

MrsBertBibby · 26/05/2018 17:02

When one of ours had to go GF he really struggled with all the GF bread versions. So we stopped them all. It made feeding him so hard, but he was happier having pasta or chips than constantly dissppointing bread. After a few months he started in on the bread replacements again and found them much nicer as the memory of real bread had faded.

GF is rotten for kids, it really is.
