Wow! This is the first time I've had to start a second thread this early!

Please continue to post all your meals, ideas, questions, woes, successes etc here!

I'm currently on a train Oop North with very dodgy wifi so can't guarantee I will see or be able to answer all your questions, but I'll do my best.

Also, tomorrow I'm at a funeral Sad so won't be around very much

OP posts:
BrassicaBabe · 17/05/2018 22:48

Phew. Thread #2 means it's easier to catchup with. I had got a little behind Blush

Just another voice saying these snack cravings stop. This is BC#3 for me. I spent the first few weeks of BC#1 beating myself up about the amount of pork scratchings I was eating. Trust me, it passes.

Does anyone have a LC bbq sauce/marinade recipe? All of mine are choc full of things like sugar, honey or tomato sauce Sad

oldbirdy · 17/05/2018 22:54

I guess baking powder is out for first fortnight, can I use it after? Have a great recipe for cloud bread (made with whisked eggs and cream cheese) but it has half a tsp baking powder in the recipe. Cloud bread is great with butter and marmite ...yum.

oldbirdy · 17/05/2018 23:00

My menu for today:
Breakfast: non- savoury omelette with tofu fried in butter and cinnamon, one egg and a dollop of cream
Snack: olives and cubed cheddar
Lunch: feta salad with lemon dressing, a hot chicken thigh from the deli counter and a bit of ribs from deli counter
Snack: pork scratchings
Supper: another thigh, rest of ribs, and salad with avocado and mayo.

Was really hungry today, usually manage without 2 snacks.

Love the tip about fruit teabag in my water; it has really helped today. Thanks Flowers

Titsywoo · 17/05/2018 23:00

I use cream of tartar instead of baking powder oldbirdy.

Titsywoo · 17/05/2018 23:01

Although looking at it there is less carbs in baking powder!

oldbirdy · 17/05/2018 23:01

Ooh, titsy, is that allowed? Do you make cloud bread successfully that way?

singadream · 17/05/2018 23:05

Sorry for your loss @biwi.

Did anyone see my question last thread about feeling cold? Now it is happening I remember it happening last time too. But when I start to get hungry I also start to feel really cold. Is this a normal side effect of LCHF?

I had a big lunch and a small dinner - usually I would have a big lunch AND a big dinner so this is progress. x

BlackMozart · 17/05/2018 23:05

Just checking in but have not been able to catch up on the old thread because I was so far behind.
BIWI 💐
I am feeling strong. I am away on a course for 2 days and it’s a big thank you to the poster who suggested mashing eggs with butter as I had that for breakfast in the car with some avocado and bacon strips and it got me through the inevitable biscuits/croissants that were laid out at the course.
Avoided wine at dinner and have drunk my water! 😇

DramaAlpaca · 17/05/2018 23:07

Resisted temptation twice today Halo

A colleague brought pizza for us all for lunch. I avoided the staff kitchen & went home for lunch. Then DH came home from work with samosas a colleague of his had made. I know from experience how good they are but let DH eat them all.

For dinner I had a fried lamb burger on a bed of courgetti & spinach with mayo on the side. It was yum.

Titsywoo · 17/05/2018 23:27

No idea if it's allowed as I haven't had it when on bootcamp. I used to have it with bacon and low carb ketchup. Lovely!

OrlandaFuriosa · 18/05/2018 00:56

Sorry about the funeral BiWi, how nice you are going. They will appreciate it, as we do you getting this thread going despite what’s on.

Not a completely brilliant day but could be worse. But my water tip:

I have an 850ml SmartWater bottle. I can easily drink at least half of it every time I want or know I need to drink. So, getting up, four large mouthfuls. Before I go out. 10.30. Middday. Lunch. And so on, It’s easy to do two full refills that way. And that means you’re into 2 1/2 litres with no problems. I don’t know why I find it easier than the half bottles, I suspect I just take larger mouthfuls.

NotSoSkinnyNow · 18/05/2018 01:07

Today was a good day food wise.

B: 2 eggs scrambled
L: leftover broccoli and blue cheese soup from yesterday
D: roasted chicken (1 thigh & 1 drumstick) with lots of salad. Green pepper rather than red, and no tomatoes, lots of spinach, radish, cucumber ... I am learning as the week progresses Wink. Made homemade potato wedges for the DC to have with it, but wasn't tempted myself (besides, plate was too full of salad)

Had to pop to supermarket late in the evening, and DH requested crisps and chocolate. Have not told him of my new WOE as he's not exactly supportive right now. Resisted getting chocolate for myself too, opting for pork scratchings instead. Delighted to say they did the trick!

3.5 L water, perhaps a bit more.

Definitely suffering with brain fog though. Forgot several things today. Hopefully this won't last long.

ItsalmostSummer · 18/05/2018 01:45

I have not been eating crisps. I actually didn’t. Doing good here.

LeavingTheSandBehind · 18/05/2018 03:33

Morning all, glad there is a 2nd thread as I couldn't keep up with the first one. I haven't managed to post at all yet! Good few days for me so far although I need to drink more water. Enjoy your day everyone.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 18/05/2018 06:43

Singadream, yes I get cold periods when I'm starting this WOE. Last time it passed for me after a few weeks and then I morphed into someone almost oblivious to cold.

Rousing cheer for all those resisting temptation! Flowers

I'm not very good at that, so as I was feeling so weepy yesterday I chickened out and went to bed at 8 just to avoid... everything. Think I needed the sleep though, as feel marginally chirpier this morning.

Lovely sunny still morning here, so I'm going outside with my creamy coffee to try and cheer the f* up. Wink

JuneBalloon · 18/05/2018 06:43

Trying to plan a picnic for our Royal Wedding celebrations tomorrow... so far I've got egg and bacon muffins, cold roast chicken, cheese, cherry tomatoes, salmon patties and h/m tzatziki plus green (and maybe a few red) pepper sticks. Anyone got any other suggestions???

JuneBalloon · 18/05/2018 06:47

@AthelstaneTheUnready My emotions have been a bit all over the place too!!! I've largely been feeling under appreciated by the family (they haven't done anything different, just normal tween/teen attitudes!) which has resulted in a more growly June!

MelanieCheeks · 18/05/2018 07:09

Stuffed eggs for the picnic! Mash the yolks of hard boiled ones with mayo, for basics, Garnish with bits of olive or anchovy (if the people eating like that) or a sprinkle of paprika. You can add other things to the filling mix, such as finely chopped spring onions or crumbled crispy bacon.

MrsBertBibby · 18/05/2018 07:33

Finally! A jump down after a week bobbling around the same weight.

Hope things go well today, BIWI.

Eolian · 18/05/2018 07:35

But when I start to get hungry I also start to feel really cold. Is this a normal side effect of LCHF?

I get this too on LCHF, but not just when I'm hungry. For me I think it's a sign of my blood pressure coming down.

Most noticeable effects so far for me have been a slightly flatter stomach, clearer skin, reduced appetite and a total lack of craving for sugary stuff. All good! Oh and scales have unstalled - one 1lb down today, making a total of 7lb off since I started a few weeks before BC.

KOKO everyone!

MyShinyThing · 18/05/2018 07:37

Phew! Finally caught up, have been trying since Wednesday!

I hope today goes as well as can be BIWI Thanks

And well done to everyone that's resisted temptation! DH decided to go to the chip shop last night & I resisted everything. Although I did have to hurriedly through together a huge salad as I was so hungry & the smell of the chips was weakening my resolve! DH has a pie, large battered sausage & a huge pile of chips! How the man has a 30 inch waist & is not the size of a house is beyond me.

Just logging my food.
Yesterday:
B: Greek yogurt
L: left over sausage with green salad, lots of oil
D: Huge green salad with tuna mayo, olives & feta, glug of olive oil.

Today:
B: Nothing! I really need to be more organised about breakfast. I may pop to M&S when I get to the office.
L: Salad from M&S or Pret I think.
D: chicken fajita salad, sour cream, cheese. Avocado if I remember to pick one up. Yum!

Well done for sticking with it everyone, have a lovely day.

wherehavealltheflowersgone · 18/05/2018 07:41

It's so interesting to read other people getting cold! Its sunny here but I've been wrapping up and digging out the winter duvet!

Like others I was very weepy and emotional yesterday so went to bed early to stop myself comfort eating crap. I listened to a hypnosis app on curing chocolate cravings - which was AMAZING!

This morning I feel loads better and I think that pesky carb flu has finally lifted Smile

StuntNun · 18/05/2018 07:44

OldBirdy if the carbs are all in the sauce then you could just leave most of it. I do that with things like ribs and chicken wings where the sauce comes in a separate packet - either leave it out entirely or just brush on a thin smear to give a bit of flavour without all the sugar.

Farine if you're always hungry then go for protein (boiled egg, cheese) rather than fatty foods as protein is more satiating than fat. I read a study yesterday that reported a 50% protein diet was most satiating, i.e. reduced overall calorie intake the most. It wasn't a well controlled study so take it with a pinch of salt, but it did confirm other findings about protein filling you up more than fat.

Brassica I have a low-ish carb barbecue sauce recipe (adapted from Mark's Daily Apple) but it does have a small amount of honey in so it isn't perfect. Let me know if you want it anyway.

I hope all goes smoothly today BIWI Thanks

oldbirdy · 18/05/2018 07:48

1 lb up today. Never mind. Koko

Off to wrestle teen son out of bed!

Catbot · 18/05/2018 08:00

Checking in!

Yesterday I had
B: avocado
L: salad with chorizo, halloumi, olives and cucumber and some mayo
D: chicken in a garlicky, cheesy sauce with cauliflower rice and LOADS of butter (oh my days)

I didn't even feel peckish after lunch until about 8pm when we had dinner!

However, my poor bum Blush I was constipated yesterday and now I've hurt it Blush. I should have known better because this has happened before when I've switched to low carbing.

Still, I appear to have lost a couple of lbs after that! Grin
