Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, for its final outing

Hopefully everyone will have seen a loss this final week. Let me know how much you've lost overall!

Lenl Flowers

It's hard to watch people we love harming themselves. But you knowwe all knowthat nothing can make us lose weight until we're ready.

In your mind you're giving her sound advice; in her mind she might be feeling lectured, and might be reacting with the invisible eye-roll many of us do when hearing a SW member or low-fat dieter tell us what's "best."

There are many ways to lose weight. It's possible that the therapist is trying to address root causes in the belief that once those are resolved your sister will be able to find a WOE that works for her. Let's hope it's LCHF, or at least some method where she enjoys the food, doesn't feel deprived, and experiences other benefits to her health.

I happen to believe this way of losing weight is safe, natural, healthy, and effective. I also believe there is no reason to wait until one is free of issues Hmm before attempting weight loss. In the meantime, keep setting an example.

Results speak for themselves and everyone wants success so you might end up inspiring her to say (in the immortal words of the lady in the restaurant from When Harry Met Sally) "I'll have what she's having."

ClearEyesFullHearts · 19/12/2017 16:54

Oh, and not that anyone cares much about these things but I shall be name-changing for the next thread and Bootcamp.

Need to shake things up a bit and go with something...tougher. So in honour of my PTA days I shall henceforth be known as Illaminati.

Celeriac Dauphinoise:

One celeriac peeled and finely sliced. I did it with the slicing blade in the food processor
2 onions, sliced
About 500ml double cream
lots of parmesan about 100g - I slice it in the food processor too since I have all the attachments out.

Gently cook the sliced onions in a pan with oil and butter for about 20 minutes. You want well softened but not brown.
Put a third of the sliced celeriac in the bottom of an oven proof dish, add had the onions, another layer of celeriac, the rest of the onions, then the rest of the celeriac.

thin out the double cream slightly with water, then pour over the celeriac and onion mixture until comes to just below the top of the celeriac. Scatter with grated parmesan and cook in the oven for about 40 minutes at 180 degrees.

I would suggest putting a tray on the shelf below because it tends to bubble over a bit. As I say, it is absolutely delicious!

Lenl I know how difficult it is with family - I have a family member who I think would benefit so much from this WOE due to autoimmune disease, but I think all you can do is be a good example. I'd be severely hacked off if people offered me advice about eating, so maybe your Dsis feels the same.

Rshard · 19/12/2017 17:46

You obviously really love your sister lenl, that shone out from your concern for her. You’re a good inspiration to her!

Lenl · 19/12/2017 18:31

Thanks for the replies. You're all right of course, she needs to be in the right place.
I'd have probably said the same as she did 3 years ago.

I'm careful to only mention it if the subject comes up anyway. I feel very mindful of how annoying it can be and wouldn't dream of saying anything like "oh you shouldn't eat that". But I will leave it now and just KOKO myself.

I think it's a symptom of feeling that DM perpetuates things a bit and frustration that I can see the pattern from the outside but they're in it so they can't. Should just be thankful I'm out of her sphere of influence a bit now I guess.

Velocity · 19/12/2017 19:48

I lost 3kg which was my target for the year and meant that I shifted weight that I never thought was going to come off. I'm very happy and would never have taken the plunge with this WOE without boot camp. DH has been joining and he lost 2 kg as well. Thanks to everyone for support and I'm off to the maintenance thread !!

ponygirlcurtis · 20/12/2017 07:27

As I thought I am 152.5, so an overall loss of 3lb. (Can someone change it on the spreadsheet, for some reason I can't update on my phone despite managing every other week.)

I am more than happy with this. Thank you to BIWI for the Bootcamp and everyone for all their support, it's been inspiring to read all the ups and downs that people have battled on through.

Even just a couple of Celebrations at lunchtime from the staffroom is enough to cause a sugar crash in me and make me sleepy so I will consciously try to avoid too much sugar over Christmas. Hope you all have a great time, whatever you do.

SecretSix · 20/12/2017 08:43

Well in my two weeks of almost sticking to boot camp rules, I’ve lost two pounds! What’s made me happier though is it’s already clear that my digestive system clearly prefers LCHF, so I’ll be sticking with it. Apart from some of mum’s mince pies...

See you on the next boot camp!

prettybird · 20/12/2017 09:31

My dad is going to give HFLC a go when he gets home in February. I'll not tell him my MN name and that I'm running the first few weeks of the Boot Camp (although I should hopefully have passed the baton on to the next volunteer by then Wink).

I'll probably just send him a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness so that he can read the Rules and also all the supporting resources (he's a medic so he'll like some of the science) Grin

prettybird · 20/12/2017 09:34

Oh - and as of today, I've lost 40lb since I started. Only 1 and a 1/4lb to go to the 11s! Xmas Smile

prettybird · 20/12/2017 09:43

Well done SecretSix Xmas Smile

It's a difficult time of year to start - but at least you're getting the hang of it. Remember to drink plenty of water even if you're having that odd mince pie I've resisted so far, despite having made 63 standard size one and 12 mini ones Xmas Shock

ilovecherries · 20/12/2017 09:57

Isn't it funny how some days you just wake up hungry. Normally I fast till lunch, but today my stomach was having none of it Grin. So I just ate left over HM curry. Love curry for breakfast! Possibly just as well as having a day of pre-Christmas beautification (podiatrist/manicurist/eyebrow waxing/hairdresser) so probably won't actually have a chance to eat again till dinner.

Rshard · 20/12/2017 10:48

Well done secret

Sounds like nice plans prettybird, I’m getting my nails done tomorrow.

Think my mil will be having a go at the woe in the new year, probably not joining mumsnet tho. She’s a serial weight watcher, having first gone when her ds (my dh) was 6 months old - he’s now 44!

starsky22 · 20/12/2017 16:37

Well done to all the losers! It's been another brilliant bootcamp, thank you BIWI and everyone else for being so supportive.

I have lost 12lbs this bootcamp and 38lbs since I started LCHF in June and so far am keeping it off. I need to find some time to take some after photos, so I can see how much my body has changed!

Wh0KnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 20/12/2017 16:45

Coming in a bit late with this weeks weigh-in, I have been away and had several meals out so fallen off the wagon, and am 2lb up again, but still 4.5lb down over the bootcamp, which is pretty good considering I have been quite half-hearted at times and only joined on impulse. I'll be back for the next one. I'm going to try and have a few days back on it now before Christmas so things don't slip any further in the wrong direction.

SayrraT · 20/12/2017 19:55

I'll try to sort it later prettybird but I've only got my phone just now so I think it will be tricky!

prettybird · 21/12/2017 00:41

Very pleased and impressed with myself: just made a batch of tablet and I didn't even bite into and swallow the teaspoonful used to test for softball stage. Just felt it with my fingers and then left it on the counter for dh Xmas Shock

Midway through my egg fast and didn't want to sabotage it. Xmas Smile

BerylStreep · 21/12/2017 01:05

Well done PrettyBird.

I've lost another lb this week. I need to be a daily weigher and keto stick tester to keep me on track.

Slightly off topic, but I nipped into Lidl this evening to get a couple of bits, and all of their Xmas veg are 20p per bag! Parsnips, brussels and carrots. They also had some very fine looking celeriac.

JumpingintoLCHF · 21/12/2017 07:31

If anyone could add my last 3 weigh ins that would be great thanks.

242 240 240

Sorry to ask again but I just don't know how to do it on my phone. Thank you!

prettybird · 21/12/2017 08:35

If someone hasn't it done it by the time I'm back on my laptop, I'll do it for you Jumping. Might be this evening though.

JumpingintoLCHF · 21/12/2017 08:36

Thanks v much

ilovecherries · 21/12/2017 08:55

I've done it, jumping into LCHF and prettybird. :). That a stone off in total, jumping - congratulations Grin

JumpingintoLCHF · 21/12/2017 09:03

Thanks for doing that ilove.

I'm delighted with a stone off and just want to maintain it over Christmas now. I'd already lost a stone in the months before so I feel I've come too far to let it slip now!

ASDismynormality · 21/12/2017 09:32

Ive put on 5lbs in the last 2 days - bloody hormones! I know it's fluid retention as my period started yesterday and I'm also really constipated so will get some linseed later.

littlebillie · 21/12/2017 09:47

Here I am at 183 lbs, my bmi is 24 and I have maintained since the summer. I half heartedly joined this camp to lose another 7lbs but actually I am pleased I have maintained.

A few things I have learned, losing carbs means I have lost the craving for food in general. I can easily have a large bowl of soup of lunch and forget about food until dinner. I have found peanut butter a god send as it keeps me full from morning to lunchtime. I have had carbs on some days due to lack of choice if out to dinner, but because my WoE has changed my weight does not. I am now at the stage where need to exercise more and feel better than I have in years. I am lighter than I was nearly two decades ago....

Thank you for the support and the bootcamp!
