I have I tried on 80% the other day and on 50% today! I stand beside it and do it in 10 sec blasts, today it took 4 mins 10 before it exploded. I'm having fried eggs instead.

HolgerDanske · 05/12/2017 07:43

Thank you, Clear. Yes it is correct (apparently). I only weigh once a week so I just take it at face value; I expect it’s some weird anomaly. I’m fully expecting to be up by a few pounds by next week, especially as it’ll be pre period.

Still suffering with a horrible sore throat and ear ache. Would much prefer to curl up in bed and sleep, today.

Have a good day everyone.

Gammeldragz · 05/12/2017 07:54

Back down to 165 today so put that on the SS, total of 7lb off this BC which I'm very happy with. Hoping to see 164 again this week and then get to 163 by the end of BC...

SoMuchToBits · 05/12/2017 08:03

Furry, your perpendicular rolls made me laugh! Grin

It's ds's birthday today - he's 17. Yesterday I made him a cake, and managed not to scrape the bowl/eat the icing trimmings after I had decorated it! He's taking it to school, so hopefully it will all get consumed by his mates. Otherwise he will have to eat all the rest of it, as there's only him and me at home, and I'm not eating cake!

We're going out this evening to the Turkish restaurant round the corner. I know there will be low carb options there, so not too worried about that.

Mimosa1 · 05/12/2017 08:16

Morning everyone

Holger feel better!

I'm down 1/2 a lbs today - it could just be normal fluctuations but I'll take it as a loss on the day always motivates me and I need all the motivation I can get. I haven't indulged in Christmas carbs - yet - and plan to stay on plan this week. Loads of festivities next week though so we will see.

I've been a bit slack with the water but drank a lot yesterday which may have led to the 1/2 lbs. hmm...

Hi SarryaT, I do know what a carb is, I’m asking how to measure those carbs. This is a big change to the way I eat, and I want to ease in gently. It may not be what some of you are doing, but given I have spent my life eating what I wanted, this is going to be a shock to the system.

If I find it’s not working, I will reduce the amount of carbs.

So...how do I measure the amount of carbs in a slice of bread so that I can decide myself whether to occasionally eat one or not?

Mimosa1 · 05/12/2017 08:20

Secret I buy low carb bread on Ocado. It's not bad, like dark German rye bread. Needs toasting and a bit expensive but quite tasty. It's 3.6g carb per slice. Sorry no idea how to measure carbs in home baked bread. Possibly add the carb counts of all the ingredients and divide by number of slices?

SoMuchToBits · 05/12/2017 08:41

Secret, welcome to the thread!

I would say that for most of us here, eating things like bread just doesn't work, as we end up eating too many carbs. It's not just the fact we won't lose so much weight, it's that if we carry on eating too many high carb foods, we won't get rid of the carb cravings, and then won't be able to stick to this WOE.

It has been interesting to see the experiences of people who have been low carbing, then have a high carb meal, and really struggle for the next day or two not to binge on carbs.

SecretSix · 05/12/2017 08:41

Thanks mimosa1

A bit of googling required!

Rshard · 05/12/2017 08:42

Half a pound off, happy with that as I only weighed for week 8 last Thursday. That makes me 10,10 would love to get to 10, 7 for Christmas which seems achievable. Strict boot camp for me

HolgerDanske · 05/12/2017 08:44

Yes carb counting from home made you would measure carb counts of all ingredients, total, and then divide by portion or slice.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/12/2017 08:52

And ensure all portions/slices are equal...

GailLondon · 05/12/2017 09:05

morning all! Nothing much exciting going on here

Burgers and coleslaw for dinner last night

down to 10st 11 for this weeks weigh-in. Really happy with that, I'm starting to get into christmas party season and am planning to enjoy all the meals to the full while continuing to low-carb in between. My aim is to start the New Year at this weight!

SayrraT · 05/12/2017 09:11

Sorry secret just the fact you asked about two things which aren't allowed on BC made me think you weren't sure. Lots of people join BC and don't realise that you can't eat fruit, bread, pasta etc on this WOE.

I have no idea how to measure carbs in home made bread but I'd do as mimosa suggested.

Scabbersley · 05/12/2017 10:04

You cannot eat bread on BC. Maybe the occasional Protein roll from Lidl or the low carb bread from Ocado.

IIRC there is approx 12g of carbs in one small slice of shop bought wholemeal bread and I THINK the aim of BC is to be below 20g of carbs per day, so you'd struggle if you had a piece of toast every day. Also you wouldn't really have embraced BC which is really worth it. And I say that as someone who ate a croissant in week 2 or 3 Grin

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/12/2017 10:24

Croissantgate, The Sequel Wink

ilovecherries · 05/12/2017 10:25

CroissantGate still makes me laugh, Scabbersly!

SoMuchToBits · 05/12/2017 10:35

You are clearly a Reformed Character following Croissantgate, Scabbersley! Grin

sos1993 · 05/12/2017 10:38

Another sts. I watched a video on the DietDoctor website. How To Do A LCHF Diet by Dr Eric Westman. Everything we know already, but I found him easy to listen to and it has reenergised me to do a strict boot camp. 2 cups salad leaves and 1 cup non starchy veg every single day. I feel reinvigorated this week. Smile

ilovecherries · 05/12/2017 10:49

sos, do you have DietDoctor membership? If so, do you think it's worth it? I've been thinking about it, because while I know we get enough info and support here to do it, 6 months in and nearly 4 stone down, I have to start thinking more about maintenance. It's still 2-3 months away, but it's on the horizon and it's really scaring me. I was wondering if DietDoctor membership would help me with the life long nature of it all.

HolgerDanske · 05/12/2017 10:54

Thank you everyone for the get well wishes, sorry I’ve still only scanned comments. C4 Sorry for the shitty situation. I know it’s trite and probably doesn’t help at all, but things will come together. Look after yourselves this Christmas x x

HolgerDanske · 05/12/2017 10:56

scabbers croissantgate 😁😁

(Just out of interest, what did you end up going for, for your daughter’s birthday present?)

Thiswillbemyusername · 05/12/2017 11:08

Morning all! I feel a bit guilty about my eating last night, i ate half a bag of salted nuts which probably totals quite a lot of carbs. My reason is that i am in carb-flu again and i was craving something. If i hadn't have had those i think my extra lb would have disappeared by now. Nevermind! Off to the gym today maybe that'll help

sos1993 · 05/12/2017 11:21

I love cherries, I have diet doctor membership only because I wasn't quick enough to cancel membership when the free trial ended. Yesterday was the first time I watched any videos and I never read success stories. As I said above, the video I watched was motivating. I enjoy it for the meal plans and they've started posting cooking videos. I've made their crackers (really good). I love the pictures of plates of food. If you do a search on their site for keto plate, there's loads of ideas. I like it, I don't like it enough to pay for it though. I was charged £6.97 at end November, so I can cancel membership and still enjoy access until end December. So, the meal plans are really what I access and if you search on their website for a recipe, you get it without having to pay. I think the free trial is the way to go, but don't forget to cancel your membership during the month trial! Hope that all makes sense Smile

Made toast and marmite for poorly child, licked marmite off my finger and got overwhelming craving so started pondering best marmite delivery method (celery? raw cauliflower?). Decided to double-check marmite carb content--a whipping 19.2g per 100g.

Who knew? #anotherdreamshattered
