Morning all.

It's horribly wet and windy here Darn Sarf - bit of a washout this Easter weekend.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for one last time

Not sure how many hardy souls there are left, but hopefully those of you who have stuck the course have had good results.

Once we get to the end of this week, I'll start a general chat thread so that we can carry on logging food, sharing thoughts, asking questions etc.

Not sure when the next Bootcamp will be, but we can use the next thread to keep us going until then, if you want to stay.

I don't use the spreadsheet because its embarrassing if I don't lose and loads of other users have lower numbers than me lol

Wand I often enter weights for people who struggle with the spreadsheet, and I can say that I have never noticed what anyone else's weight is, even those who i'm entering - so I wouldn't worry about that.
I weigh over 12 st and 9.5 is just a dream for me Grin

BIWI · 24/04/2016 15:13

How do you think I feel, wand - when I'm running the bloody thing! Grin

I would say you're probably pretty near your target, so it will slow down. When I was reaching my target before (oh how I wish I'd listened to my own advice and stayed there Hmm), weight loss was sometimes less then 1/4 pound a week. But I plotted it on a graph every week, and that really helped me to see that the overall trajectory was downwards.

Are you eating enough? If sometimes it's only 800 calories that's very low.

Going to try to eat in an uber camp type way over the next 3 days and am thinking:

Mushroom omelette
Prawn mayo or salmon fillet in gem lettuce with cucumber and maybe avocado
Chicken breast or pork chop with baby spinach and brocolli or cauli

Does that look ok? Having to work with what I have...

BIWI · 24/04/2016 15:55

Sounds lovely!

Wand 2lb off per month is a reasonable rate of loss when you're a stone or less from goal. Unless you're particularly short then 800-1200 calories is probably not enough. If you want to see where you might be able to improve your rate of weight loss then you could log your foods on My Fitness Pal or similar for three days to see what your calories and macros are. I've had a few people find that boosting their fat macro by 5% is beneficial for weight loss when near goal. Intermittent fasting 16:8 is another tool that you can use to lose the last few pounds.

AuntieMaggie · 24/04/2016 18:01

Thank you. I need to kick start this weight loss as I have 10 weeks til a special occasion and would ideally like another stone off by then. I've lost 11kg but the last kg has been slow.

So pissed off with myself as I have sabotaged yet again and after losing 1lb this week, I'm back to 10st fecking 10, my post Christmas weight - arrrrggghhhhh.

It's no excuse but DS is being a total PITA at the moment, he's 5 going on 25 and will not listen to a word I say. We have had pretty much contsant battles all weekend and I feel like the shittest parent in the world cos all I've done is shoutand all he's done is whinge, moan and cry.

I ate really well all day but knew I was struggling, not helped by AF showing up on Saturday. As soon as he was in bed I ate a shitload of chocolate which I didn't even enjoy. It was so sweet and artificial but I just couldn't stop myself shovelling it in, there was tonnes of LC stuff I could have had instead but I was out of control.

I am back on it today, but am feeling very down and wondering what the point is. We are away with the inlaws this weekend and eating will largely be out of my control. I am going to try my best with main meals but suspect other options will be carbs or starve (and look like a fussy weirdo in front of DH's family - no way would I tell them about LC, they would NOT get it).

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck Sad

ShebaQueen · 25/04/2016 09:32

Morning Chester, I messed up yesterday too, visited a friend and she'd gone to a lot of trouble to prepare (a carb laden) lunch and like you I didn't want to appear fussy so I ate it, although not huge portions. That alone was bad enough, but when I got home I craved carbs and ended up eating biscuits. Back on the wagon today and drinking lots of water to hopefully minimise the damage.

Isn't emotional eating interesting - hunger is rarely the reason I binge (and if I do LCHF properly then I'm genuinely not hungry).

Anyway koko everyone, we can do this!

Chester - I agree with Wand This is a way of life and sometimes matters are taken out of our hands. Just do the best you can. Only a couple of weeks to the new boot camp Wink

AuntieMaggie · 25/04/2016 19:17

I echo what wand and wombat said - I went out for a very lovely friends birthday the other day and even though I knew we were going to get something to eat I planned to just order something without carbs... until I got there and she decided to go for pizza. So I had pizza. And got back on it the next day. It wasn't even that good. But I'm not going to beat myself up about it because spending the evening with my friend was lovely.

So day 1 ubercamp went well and I really enjoyed the food. In the end I had scrambled egg and mushrooms, prawns in mayo with gem lettuce, avocado and cucumber and pork chop with brocolli and spinach. I just boiled the brocolli but will try something else another night when I don't feel shit - not sure if it's AF related but I've had the mother of all headaches all day so off to bed soon as I feel worn out too.

But the big news is... my blood pressure is low now Grin It went up in the last couple of weeks of my pregnancy and never came down til now so I'm really chuffed. Hopefully I'll come off the meds now if the monitoring shows its consistently low. Now I just need to get pregnant...

feekerry · 25/04/2016 19:25

Evening all.
Crapy few days for me. Currently dying my hair and painting my nails ready to watch game of thrones and kick start some low carbing tomorrow!!
We have all had nits at weekend. Absolutely horrified but I suppose these things happen with young kids. Still can't get rid of that yuky nit thought tho!!!
Will post food tomorrow xx

Wand weight loss slows down when you are near your ideal weight for physiological reasons. If you are very overweight then your body has ample stores of fat that can be used for energy. When you are near to your ideal weight then there is a physiological need to conserve fat stores for times when food is in short supply. When people are near to their ideal weight then they often find they need to eat more fat to be able to continue losing weight. This sends the message that there is ample food available so it's okay to burn body fat rather than conserve it. Your brain can sense the quantity of fat stored via the hormone leptin which is produced by fat cells. If you have been overweight for some time then you can have leptin insensitivity. This means the leptin signal doesn't get through so the brain reacts as if there isn't enough fat stores and again acts to conserve body fat. That's one reason why cheat meals can help with weight loss when done properly. The cheat meal allows a temporary leptin boost which can kickstart weight loss after a long stall.

Hope that all makes sense!

I reckon the rule of thumb for ideal weight is the weight at which there are no wobbly bits when you jump up and down. Grin Weight is only a good indicator of health in very broad terms, i.e. underweight, healthy weight, overweight, obese. Body composition is much more important. For example:

I am 40 years old. At 40 a good body fat percentage is 22%.

At the moment I weigh 57 kg and have 25% body fat (14.3 kg) and my BMI is 20.4.

I have a small frame so I'm aiming for a BMI of 20 which is 56 kg and 22% body fat (12.3 kg).

So to achieve this weight and body fat percentage I need to lose 2 kg fat and gain 1 kg muscle.

This works out pretty reasonably for me. I'm carrying a fair amount of fat on my abdomen and I'm pretty puny so could certainly do with building more muscle. I plan to lose the 2 kg of fat by combining low carb with intermittent fasting once I have stopped breastfeeding DS4. And I plan to gain the 1 kg of muscle through 6 months of weight training.

AuntieMaggie · 27/04/2016 13:05

Day 3 ubercamp going well - I've actually enjoyed these 3 days so may make it my regular work food regime (I work 3 days) though I missed dinner last night because I got in at 9pm and wasn't hungry. I think the fact that AF is here and I'm not craving crap speaks for itself.

How is everyone else doing?

If that's the case Wand then something like the 30 Day Shred could make a huge difference.

wombattoo · 27/04/2016 16:39

I'm still here. Not doing great but I'm koko in a small way Smile

feekerry · 27/04/2016 17:56

Good 2 days here.
I find the days at home much easier than when I'm at work.

nekobus · 27/04/2016 18:06

Still here too! I keep losing and gaining the same pound and have had a few carb mishaps... Bring on bootcamp!!

Thanks for all the info stunt - no excuses for my weigh loss slowing down, I'm a good 2 stone away from a BMI of 25!! I do have scales that do body fat but too scared to look Blush

Chester, I hope you can enjoy your weekend and get back on LC after. I have a 5yo too, he is being v cheeky with lots of answering back and thinks he is right all the time!! Drives me crazy and I have days when it feels I'm mostly shouting at them (have a threenager too) ThanksThanks

Feek did you enjoy GoT? I thought it was good but not much happened, I'm more of a box set binger so annoyed I've got to wait another week!!

Nope not much you can do for loose skin but it will shrink back somewhat so doing that exercise and drinking lots of water can only help Wand. I suppose you have to aim for a point that you can be happy with and focus on the parts of your body that you like. My tummy is never going to look good after five pregnancies and three c-sections but my legs aren't looking too bad. So no bikini for me this summer but I will be able to wear a summery dress. It's still a hell of a lot better than before I discovered Bootcamp.
