Final weigh-in - Low Carb Bootcamp - how did you do?!

Morning all.

It's horribly wet and windy here Darn Sarf - bit of a washout this Easter weekend.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for one last time

Not sure how many hardy souls there are left, but hopefully those of you who have stuck the course have had good results.

Once we get to the end of this week, I'll start a general chat thread so that we can carry on logging food, sharing thoughts, asking questions etc.

Not sure when the next Bootcamp will be, but we can use the next thread to keep us going until then, if you want to stay.

Banana three weeks isn't unusual for a stall. If you aren't following Bootcamp then what are you doing? As BIWI says, some people find they need to up their fat intake to keep losing.

BananaramaLlama · 30/03/2016 09:26

Since October, for most of each week I have cut out all wheat-based products, rice, potato, biscuits, cakes, sweets etc, and I have focused on having lots of good veggies with that.

The main differences between BC and what I have been doing is that I haven't worried too much about carb counts in veg - so I have had small amounts of carrot / sweetcorn etc when the family has been having them; I have been having processed meats whenever I want them (bacon, ham, pepperami, chorizo); I have had some nuts and dark chocolate (70% cocoa, usually one piece per day at most); and I have had some wine each week. The other main difference is that I have had one main course off plan each week - so that has usually been a homemade pizza on a Saturday night.

So all of that has been allowing me to lose around 0.5kg / week - but I am now wondering if I need to cut down the carbs a bit more to get down a bit lower. My BMI has come from over 30 to 29.1 so I am pleased with that, but would like to carry on losing.

I will def try and up my water and my fat, think I am getting a good amount of protein. This week coming up I will probably stick to my usual plan as we are on holiday, but if things aren't shifting in a week or two will try taking more care with the carby veg and also cut out the 'meal off' to once per fortnight or lower. Thanks for the replies!

Banana that's pretty much the way I eat at maintenance. You may be able to continue losing weight slowly on that woe but if you want to speed it up a little then you will probably need to cut carbs further. Another option would be to do a few days of very low carb for example the Ubercamp which might get your weight moving again and you could try going back to your usual woe.

wombattoo · 30/03/2016 17:14

fee I've added you

BananaramaLlama · 30/03/2016 20:52

Thank you Stunt, that's good to hear - I was hoping to be able to carry on with this sort of pattern as I get to a better weight. I record weights on Fridays, but weigh in every day to keep an eye on things and today was under my lowest (only by 100 grams, but it all counts!) so will see how I go for the next week or so and definitely think about a push on some super-low carb days. I always find it easier to be low carb in the summer, when salads seem much more appealing, so hopefully things will continue in the right direction.

Sorry - late checking in here: going back to work has been bizarrely brill but also involves being out of the house for 16 hours at a time - it seems weird, after months sitting with my feet up all day!

I've lost very slightly over a stone this BC - around 5% of my weight. I realise this isn't great in the grand scheme of things, given that I was starting from such a high point - but I am very, very chuffed with this, given that it took me a few weeks to work out the various tweaks I needed to use (not much cheese) and I had nearly a month of other people cooking for me(and not always getting the hang of LC - though HF was, strangely, less of a problem Grin). I am going to KOKO until next BC - but I want to send a huge thank you yell to everyone who's been so helpful and supportive to me on this BC. I am so, so grateful, and it really has made all the difference to me Flowers

Well done to everyone who's made it through - and especially those who've had tough times with families, health and work Chocolate (

wombattoo · 31/03/2016 17:40

Well done hefzi Regardless of your starting point, a stone is a fantastic loss. I'll be hanging around the thread and koko with you Thanks

StuntNun · 31/03/2016 18:18

Well done Hefzi you've made a great start to your weight loss journey. Keep up the good work.

BIWI · 31/03/2016 18:19

Due to lots of crap with court etc I haven't kept up with the thread and been a bit useless although LC with food- but I had wine instead. So I stopped posting as I either lied or put people off LC and made them want wine.

I've knocked that on the head since last week and managed to find some exercise DVDs I like, which I do everyday plus dog walking and running 5k about 3 times a week.

However- I'm not losing. At all. I have LC successfully in the past with this bootcamp and I don't undertand it. My tummy is bloated and actually feels quite hard. I look 3/4 months gone. There might be abs under it but I doubt it. It just feels hard. However, when I started the DVDs I had to wear compact pants because my tummy hurt when i jumped about, and now I don't, but still have a tummy. But my weight is the same.

If anyone has any sage advice I'd be very grateful.

wombattoo · 01/04/2016 18:44

mom I've added you. Well done.
There have been some great losses sadly not me Grin

lavender the usual advice is to post a few days meals as it's easier to spot if you're having something that may be stalling other than the wine Grin

lavenderhoney · 01/04/2016 19:49

Wombatto, I've stopped the wine now:) and here is a typical day for me. I don't get hungry btw. I also don't have much time so as long as I've eaten something I push on.

B- coffee with a dash of double cream x2
Bacon and eggs x 2
Maybe a couple of Brazil nuts

L- salad / babybel ( raw) am dashing as going running

D- piece of salmon cooked in butter with leeks in butter, courgettes in butter, cabbage ( one of those) might have slice of Brie melted into veg.

Or salad with tin of sardines in olive oil thrown on top and a blob of mayonnaise

Jasmine and pearl tea or tetleys with a bit if of full fat milk. X1

About a litre of water.

I have about 7 hours sleep. I get up early to excercise and I do a DVD when the DC are in bed so normally get to bed about 11pm.

I look very boring, now I've written all that down:)

BIWI · 01/04/2016 20:05

Not enough water, lavender!

OP posts:
lavenderhoney · 01/04/2016 20:11

BIWI- is that what it is? Thank you - I was thinking of stopping the coffee but frankly it's what gets me up in the morning!

I've just had a look and I should be drinking at least 2 litres according to the advice on the back rules. I hope it's that- i can build it into my day, when I'm working. And after workouts. I shall report back-

BIWI · 01/04/2016 20:13

The rest of your food looks fine - although you might want to knock the bacon on the head a bit if it's every day. Just make sure you're getting enough fat.

OP posts:
lavenderhoney · 02/04/2016 07:32

Thank you BIWI:) I'll pack the bacon in- usually the DC have a bacon sandwich so I throw a rasher or two in for me. I shall have to stop that, and avoid any bits they don't eat.
