Week 3 - Low Carb Bootcamp - where you get to make a decision!

BIWI · 01/02/2016 14:41

Afternoon all! Apologies for the later than usual start to this week's chat thread.

Here's the spreadsheet

I was up so early I completely forgot to weigh this morning Blush

Now. It's week 3, so you get to decide. Do you want to move onto Bootcamp Light, or do you want to stay on Bootcamp? Or, do you want to do both - Bootcamp during the week, and then relax at the weekend, with Bootcamp Light?

The rules for Bootcamp Light are at the bottom of the spreadsheet, but in a nutshell it means you can add nuts/seeds (occasionally, and in moderation); you can eat some fruit - mainly berries, and again in moderation, and you can have the occasional alcoholic drink - again, stick to spirits and wine.

If you're happy staying on Bootcamp, that's fine - but if you decide to do this, please make sure you're getting most of your carbs from veg and salad, and not from other processed foods, otherwise you won't be getting optimal nutrition.

And now for the warning! It's very, very common in weeks 3 and 4 (and sometimes even 5) for weight loss to slow/stop altogether. If this happens to you, please don't be disheartened. It's your body catching up with you! KOKO, and things will soon start to move again - albeit that you're more likely to see smaller weekly losses, around 1-2lbs a week.

Thanks for the new thread biwi X

FelicityFunknickle · 01/02/2016 14:58

Thanks BIWI

mustbemad71 · 01/02/2016 15:16

Thanks BIWI - did I read on the last thread that we can also have good quality dark choccie or is that just wishful thinking on my part?!

ShebaQueen · 01/02/2016 15:29

Thanks for the new thread BIWI Smile

StuntNun · 01/02/2016 15:46

No weight loss this week for me so I'll KOKO.

RomiiRoo · 01/02/2016 15:55

Thanks Biwi, hope the early start was not too bad.

I have STS but as I have not much to lose and still off work, I am happy. Keeping on with BC for now.

FelicityFunknickle · 01/02/2016 15:55

does KOKO mean keep on keeping on? Blush

DrDiva · 01/02/2016 16:26

Thank you for the new thread.

I am currently attempting not to indulge in pissed off eating.

I will be back after striding round the block huffing a few times. Smile

fohamy12 · 01/02/2016 16:31

Yes felicity it does!

StuntNun · 01/02/2016 17:19

DS1 made dinner for us in home ec. It's chilli con carne and smells delish. Can I eat the kidney beans or should I pick them out? It's only one can of beans in the whole thing which serves four.

FelicityFunknickle · 01/02/2016 17:27

oh gosh. I am such a failure alcoholic
The food? no problem. easy peasy really.
But I have had wine.
Can I start again tomorrow?
Somebody say something encouraging for the love of God!
How can it be so hard?
very, very cross with Felicity right now.
humph!

hefzi · 01/02/2016 17:28

I've seen a lot of people use "STS" on these threads: could some kind person tell me what it stands for Blush? (I am useless with acronyms!)

I'm sticking with BC for the moment: I want to reiterate to my slow brain that this is a new WOE, and am worried that if I get into making "alternatives" using nuts etc, I won't properly process the changes. It's a shame, as the fathead pizza looks amazing but perhaps next week Grin

hefzi · 01/02/2016 17:29

felicity, I think the odd bottle glass is fine: don't be cross with yourself - and get back on the LC horse!

ami9 · 01/02/2016 17:45

Thumbs thanks for adding my weight. Can I ask a question about the babybel pls... do you microwave it with the red siliconey pakaging on? Iv been taking mine off and still like it. Just wondering if doing it wrong. Im staying on bc and bc light every second weekend for 1 meal. Really want to get used to this WOE and learn not to over indulge. Good luck everyone xx

ami9 · 01/02/2016 17:47

Hefzi im not sure but think it means staying the same.

Wombatinabathhat · 01/02/2016 18:17

hefzi STS =stayed the same

1lb off for me. I'm pleased with that. I will be sticking mainly to bc through the week with a glass or 2 of alcohol at the weekend Grin
B: Ham with hm mayo
L: Chicken and courgette curry
D: Late home so a babybel
S: Pork scratchings

blackteaplease · 01/02/2016 18:49

I can post my meals now strict B.C. is finished.

B full fat yoghurt, frozen berries and a small sprinkle of walnuts
S Pepperami
L 2hb eggs, lump of feta and mixed salad with olive oil
D chili with courgette rice ( not sure if that's a real thing but I am making it)

Lots of water and 3 coffees.

Equiem89 · 01/02/2016 19:00

Marking place. Weigh day is tomorrow for me

TrinityForce · 01/02/2016 19:10

6 lbs off this week!
this was week 4 for me, after a small gain last week.

Thanks for the celeriac mash recipe, it was delicious.

Went out to Toby Carvery for sunday lunch, thought it'd be quite safe! The veg was actually ridiculously limited which I never thought before LCing.
The only mildly acceptable veg - cauliflower cheese, peas, carrots. I was really disappointed, I thought there'd be broccoli, sprouts maybe...

I'm not a big fan of steak so I've yet to find a suitable restaurant dish - so no eating out. Which is good for the wallet but sad for my soul Smile

Hope everyone has a good result this week.

mustbemad71 · 01/02/2016 19:30

Stunt I'd avoid the kidney beans - I looked at a can in my cupboard - it'll be about 10g of carbs for 1/4 of a large tin. Shock

DartmoorDoughnut · 01/02/2016 19:38

I'm going to bootcamp during the week and go light at the weekends, that's the plan in any case!

Equiem89 · 01/02/2016 19:47

I'll be doing bootcamp during the week and the odd drink at the weekend. I don't like nuts or fruit really so no point adding them in

re: dark choc yes at least 70%, even better 80 plus, I started on 70% and am now at 90%. I have one or two squares if it is the flat kind of bar or a strip if it is the chunky kind. I like M&S, Sainsburys and Aldi MoserRoth (sp?), I skipped Green & Blacks as even though same % the carbs were higher ???

On a similar subject I got Sainsbury's organic virgin coconut oil and whilst the only ingredient is the coconut oil it says 2.3g carbs per 100g - nhow can that be? The lucy bee one in comparison of course says zero carbs

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 01/02/2016 20:20

Half a pound up this week, but I deserved it. Oh well. Plus I am having the heaviest AF ever - have had only 2 very light periods in the last 18 months following birth of DS and subsequently going on the mini-pill, which I have now ditched. So I think my entire womb is emptying itself out. Hmm So I'm kind of hoping for some weight loss as a result when it's all over. I am, however, now going to a Thai restaurant tomorrow which I believe can be difficult for BC. I'm going to skip rice and just pick the lowest-carb dish there seems to be. And hope for the best!

Did day 1 of the 30 Day Shred tonight! Think I will be aching tomorrow.

B: Greek yog
L: Roast chicken & cauli cheese (leftovers)
D: Pork chop & something. Savoy cabbage, maybe.
