Week 3 - Low Carb Bootcamp - where you get to make a decision!

Afternoon all! Apologies for the later than usual start to this week's chat thread.

Here's the spreadsheet

I was up so early I completely forgot to weigh this morning Blush

Now. It's week 3, so you get to decide. Do you want to move onto Bootcamp Light, or do you want to stay on Bootcamp? Or, do you want to do both - Bootcamp during the week, and then relax at the weekend, with Bootcamp Light?

The rules for Bootcamp Light are at the bottom of the spreadsheet, but in a nutshell it means you can add nuts/seeds (occasionally, and in moderation); you can eat some fruit - mainly berries, and again in moderation, and you can have the occasional alcoholic drink - again, stick to spirits and wine.

If you're happy staying on Bootcamp, that's fine - but if you decide to do this, please make sure you're getting most of your carbs from veg and salad, and not from other processed foods, otherwise you won't be getting optimal nutrition.

And now for the warning! It's very, very common in weeks 3 and 4 (and sometimes even 5) for weight loss to slow/stop altogether. If this happens to you, please don't be disheartened. It's your body catching up with you! KOKO, and things will soon start to move again - albeit that you're more likely to see smaller weekly losses, around 1-2lbs a week.

Humph. Am up 1.5 lbs. Know why, had an afternoon tea at the weekend for a special celebration so needed to go, and was already all booked and paid for, so went, ate beforehand, had a select few of the most delicious looking things and drank a ton of water. Am also on today so that won't help.

Still feeling a bit bratty about having put weight on though! Blush. I know, I know...

LexLoofah · 01/02/2016 20:23

B - garlic sausage, avocado mashed with boursin
s- I was v peckish for some reason so had crackling and cheese, not together though
L - cheesy tomato bake with roasted peppers, courgettes, shallots & aubergine, spinach with olive oil and ACV
D - beef sausages from the butchers which were very high meat content and a nice change from pork, celeriac mashed with butter, spring greens in butter,
sq dark choc

oh and STS means stayed the same, which I wish I had done, 1lb on for me, bloody DH lost 7lb but has much further to go though.

shouldiblowthewhistle · 01/02/2016 20:24

Felicity you know I'm going to say something encouraging. I'm your buddy on the alcohol front. Don't beat yourself up over a drink. It's a marathon not a race. And I once ran into a pub to go to the loo during a marathon but I still finished in a respectable time Wink. Sometimes a stress release helps you KOKO and don't I know it Tomorrow's another day.

VikingLady · 01/02/2016 20:32

Another measly 1lb here. Am very annoyed with myself - my willpower just isn't up to sticking to it this time. I keep cracking and eating chocolate! Too much stress at the moment making the cravings worse, plus an over reliance on nuts because I can't have dairy (allergy baby!) so it's not going well.

Will start again tomorrow and try harder!

(Could someone please add my 1lb loss to the spreadsheet for me please? I'm very grateful and I'll never buy an iPhone again!)

hefzi · 01/02/2016 20:33

Thanks, wombat, ami and Lex: if I'd engaged brain, I might even have been able to work it out - doh!

I really must stop reading this thread after I've already eaten: some of the meals people are having make me slaver Grin

BIWI · 01/02/2016 20:56

VikingLady done!

And this is for you - this is what a pound of fat looks like - so don't get too downhearted!

Marking place to catch up later

Gcalgske · 01/02/2016 21:45

Interesting. I much prefer green and blacks despite slightly higher carbs, I think it's the addition of the vanilla. Really rounds out the bitterness. Yum. Stunt I'd avoid the kidney beans, I have then at 22g /per half a drained can. Also I think they are rank. Hmm

Yesterday I felt hung over and shakey all day...too much codeine I think. I was craving carbs something rotten though but stayed to LC stuff. May have had far too much of the aforementioned green and blacks though. Ankle is much better today so laid off the good pain relief.

Decided to have a vlc day so have had a creamy coffee, an omelette with cheese/ham and a few cherry toms for lunch and dinner of pork chop with creamy garlic button mushrooms. Snacked on some extra crackling the butcher gave me with the chops. Yes, that's right, I flirt for free meat products. Wink

ICJump · 01/02/2016 21:46

Thanks for that picture! I'm "just" a pound down.

I think it's low because I've been having an evening snack out of habit. Will focus on moving my hands and less TV in the evening this week to try and knock the snacking off.

Oh what does KOKO mean?

ChesterDrawers · 01/02/2016 21:47

Didn't WI this morning after a carbtastic weekend for DHs birthday. I'm not proud of my behaviour, but I did enjoy every mouthful so I suppose that's something. I was 10st 6.4 on Saturday morning, down 1.6lbs, so might put that in the spreadsheet when I get on my laptop tomorrow.

Today
B: nothing, felt too full from Sunday's shenanigans
L: M&s picnic - mozzarella balls in pesto, prawns and thousand island dip, crispy bacon strips
D: two LC sausages, swede mashed with butter, roast broccoli
Eve snack: bar of moser Roth 75%, decaff with cream

StuntNun · 01/02/2016 21:52

What are you eating Viking? My DS4 is allergic to eggs, dairy, soya and possibly coconut and it's breakfasts that I'm struggling with the most.

BIWI · 01/02/2016 21:59

KOKO = keep on keeping on

knowclue · 01/02/2016 21:59

Evening all, could some kind soap log me in for this week at 141 please? 3lbs down, mostly water I expect but hopefully some of that was fat!

Sticking at BC for this week, I know from experience I'm going to stall so going to try v hard to stay strong, still keeping the dairy fats on the low side too.
KOKO - keep on keeping on

B: scrambled egg white
L: salad with halloumi fried in butter
D: stir fry veg with two LC sausages
S: coffe with cream X 1

knowclue · 01/02/2016 22:00

Oh goodness. Kind SOUL.
Irritating ipad.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 01/02/2016 22:16

I made a 'bpc' hot chocolate for my 'dinner'. Butter, coconut, almond milk and cocoa. It was rather good. :)

NigellasGuest · 01/02/2016 22:22

Still no alcohol for me, and no nuts except ground almonds in moderation.

Treats will be a limited amount of berries - I must keep them in check though as I can easily scoff a punnet of raspberries - and small amounts of 100% chocolate.

I made these fat bombs today - just bite size bits of coconut oil containing shavings of 100% chocolate and a raspberry. They really hit the spot!

antimatter · 01/02/2016 22:31

I am staying on the stricter version of bootcamp.
I have at least 4 st to go. i also know that I am very easily lead off the path if I stray early on.

I am losing steadily and hope that by the time my big B'day comes in November I am going to be able to fit in size 10 clothes (even if it is in M&S Grin )

ICJump · 02/02/2016 02:38

Oh keep on keeping on makes sense. I was thinking is was some special carb free chocolate !

Mookbark · 02/02/2016 02:58

IC KOKO the carb free chocolate sounds great. Grin Maybe you should market it. Someone had to tell me what it meant last boot camp.
Just got in from work and really pleased with myself. Drank plenty of water but haven't had anything to eat. Would usually have one two chocolate bar and a packet of crisps when I have to work this late. I took lc snacks with me today, but wasn't hungry so didn't need them.
Night.

ApplySomePressure · 02/02/2016 06:02

Checking in. 1lb off. 8lbs total so far.
AF had arrived so feeling very bloated.

Food wise I need to be stricter, staying on BC for another week.

feekerry · 02/02/2016 06:34

143 if someone can pop my weight in. Ta
I will be sticking with normal boot camp mainly as I want this to become ingrained. Dry Jan over but going to stick with it for now!

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 02/02/2016 06:40

Tmi post!!

Bloated up like a balloon, still no poo (ninth day today - this isnt far off my normal though, so dont panic for me! Grin ), took one dulcolax last night and all it seems to have done is encourage my third period of bootcamp!! This is probably just my digestive system adjusting back to normal after i ignored my food ishoos over xmas?
I'm not taking my daily movicol at the mo, perhaps i should start? I dont usually need it on bc, it 'cures' my ibs. Might leave it a bit and see how i do - it doesnt make me poo more often anyway, its just for ahem, softening. Hmm.

Anyway... Blush
Think i might have a berry smoothie today (berries, greek yog, water) for breakfast

momofgirls · 02/02/2016 06:40

Please can 165 lb be added to the spreadsheet. I am continuing for a further week on boot camp. This was my lowest weight on Saturday. Gained a little but did have an enjoyable night in London which was my Christmas present from hubby including afternoon tea.
KOKO now to get back on track.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 02/02/2016 06:44

Just had a coffee with almond milk, been up since 2 with my stupid face and ds1 up since 5.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 02/02/2016 07:03

ami and anyone else who needs to know - you MUST REMOVE the red wax from the Babybel before microwaving it, because otherwise it will melt into the cheese and render it inedible.
Guy - I can work it with one, 1min 15secs in my 800W microwave works fine; but doubling it for 2 is hit and miss - a couple of times worked fine and then last night's just didn't!

I'm actually finding it hard to convince myself to eat, which isn't ideal. I mean, I'll still lose weight, but when my appetite comes back, it'll all go back on again, probably.

Today:
B - slice of cheese
L - fried halloumi and cucumber slices
D - fried duck breasts with green beans and swede, haven't decided whether to do rosti or mash yet. Might go for the rosti with courgette as well, that's very nice.
Getting through more water today, very dehydrated and it's muggy, so that helps. :)
