Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your delectation.

It sounds like there might be some good results, and I'm looking forward to hearing those.

ThumbWitches there is such a thing as turkey bacon, but I'm not gonna lie and tell you that you can't tell the difference.

Today I am batch cooking. I've made a ton of fish stock so it's smoked haddock and cod chowder, minus the sweetcorn and potatoes (but added later to the rest of the familys). Instead of potato I am adding little mini baby scallops, which imo blows potatoes out of the water. Also adding crispy parma ham topping and double cream.

Then I'm making a fish pie with baby scallops and prawns added to the salmon and pollock filling and topped with celeriac, cauli and cheese mash to be frozen.

They'll be served with whatever lc veg I can be bothered to make after all that.

usual soy coffee
Leftover vine tomato & brie tart
Chowder

I'm really hoping that Sayyra is a Dr Of Dealing With Irrational Women Who Want to Lose Weight but Who Just Keep Messing It Up!!??

Week 1 bc was pretty good. I had two minor tiny slips but otherwise fine. Felt better but disappointed that the scales showed only around a 2lb loss. So week 2 I've stupidly been checking the scales once maybe twice, but NEVER three times, a day. The scales have clung on to that 2lb loss but no more. So then I think I must have read the rules wrongly and I shouldn't be eating ff yogurt and cooking my veg in butter etc etc. And then last night I got soooooo disheartened that I opened some Pringles!! Grrrrrr.

Answers on a postcard please.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 21/10/2015 10:47

Yes, I used to have turkey bacon in the UK when I lived there, but haven't found it out here, sadly. :( I didn't mind it, tbh.

regenerationfez · 21/10/2015 12:23

Ibstupidly weighed myself yesterday as well, and hadn't lost anything, so now I'm going to wait until Monday to do it just in case I get disheartened. I'm not finding it too bad, but I can see myself getting really bored of egg based products with no bread! I like Cauliflower rice and prefer swede and cauliflower mash to potato mash and can live without pasta, but the bread is doing me in. I love it too much and there are no acceptable alternatives that I can think of!!!

yongnian · 21/10/2015 13:10

Just checking in as havent listed last couple of days...doing ok-ish food wise tho one or two minor infringements have crept in...thin end of the wedge...constantly trying to wrestle it back as feel I am hovering on the brink of ketosis and some actual weight loss.
DO NOT SELF SABOTAGE MISSION
DO NOT SELF SABOTAGE MISSION
DO NOT SELF SABOTAGE MISSION
And repeat ad infinitum.

pootlebug · 21/10/2015 13:46

Stop it with the scales-related sabotage people!!!

If you are determined to weigh yourself every day, stick to first thing in the morning. Put the results in a graph and that way you'll see the general overall downward trend despite the daily blips. FWIW I was 58.3kg on Monday and 59.4 yesterday….but I don't think I've genuinely put weight on, I just didn't eat much Sunday, and then had a big dinner Tues night. Up and down by a couple of lbs is fairly normal.

StuntNun · 21/10/2015 14:41

Any tips for constipation on going low carb? Just drink more water or is there anything else that can help?

StoneFoxMama · 21/10/2015 15:17

A magnesium and calcium supplement helps stunt, as you said, more water and personally I've found more fat and a double strength coffee move things quickly.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 21/10/2015 15:20

Yongnian - not trying to piss on your mantra or anything but you might want to re-think it - if you keep saying that, all your brain will be hearing is "self sabotage mission" - brains understand commands first, then the negation. It's better to find a way to positively phrase it so no negation is needed. Maybe "stick to the plan" or similar?

ChesterDrawers · 21/10/2015 16:26

Just seen my mum for the first time in a few weeks and the very first thing she said to me was 'have you lost weight?' Grin l did reply saying I wasn't sure as I didn't really weigh myself lie, lie, lie but inside I was doing a happy dance.

Today I have an appetite, food still a bit odd, but LC nonetheless:
B: BPC
L: bowl of total and cream
S: chunk huge wedge of cambozola - bloody love this stuff
D: I have some LC sausages out and will have them with swede chips

Slacking on the water front - on it

Also managed a run today, much better than yesterday's wobbly aborted gym session. And I am still 10st 7, only 2lbs to healthy BMI.

Wombatinabathhat · 21/10/2015 16:53

Astone Try not to get too disheartened. 2lbs is a very respectable loss.Grin
By weighing numerous 2 a day, you'll get very down about natural fluctuations. There's nothing wrong with the butter but I find too much yoghurt stalls my loss.

B: Egg mayo
L: Left over shepherd's pie with carrot/swede mash
D: Spicy Chicken thighs with salad and mayo and hallumi.
1 coffee with cream

AStoneBeforeChristmas · 21/10/2015 16:54

Scales are going in the garage. Back on top tomorrow and will go more by how I feel rather than numbers on a set of dodgy, temperamental scales (IMO).

DrSayrraT · 21/10/2015 17:35

Sorry AStone I'm not...though I can pretty much guarantee that if you ingested the organism I work on you'd probably end up losing weight....you would spend quite some time on the toilet though!!

Unfortunately I'm immune Sad

As pootle said don't weigh every day, unless you can deal with the fact that the scales will go up and down every day. It is best to either weigh once a week (or monthly actually) or not at all. Go by how you feel, look and how your clothes fit as well.

That's fabulous chester it's lovely when someone else notices.

Come on yongnian we've just started BC. Now is not the time to be slipping, even a little! You've been doing LC for a while so you know that you need to stick with it to see results. You can do it!

Gcalgske · 21/10/2015 18:37

Well I'm a dolt. Been over on the interim thread on my jack jones Hmm
Hello all! I am boot camping.
Today was creamy coffee at breakfast. Lunch was two herby garlic chicken thighs with a bit of cucumber on the go. Dinner was a gammon steak with cauliflower and broccoli in butter and cheddar. X

AStoneBeforeChristmas · 21/10/2015 19:13

(Pop some in the post, Dr. Sayyra...).

I'd love to know what everyone else does for a living. Maybe that's another thread.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I guess I'll be starting week one again.

BIWI · 21/10/2015 19:22

Right you lot.

There's a lot of cheating and self-sabotaging going on here, and we're only half way through week 2.

Read the rules. Print them out and stick them in front of wherever you sit or stand mostly during the day. Make sure you have learn them

This is not a forgiving way of eating. If you cheat - which includes just a little bit of something - you won't lose weight. It's as simple as that.

You won't lose weight - but more importantly, you're also making it harder for your body to switch to burning fat rather than carbs.

These first two weeks are really important so it's key that you follow the rules. If you haven't, then don't move onto Bootcamp Light. Do another week to make sure that you're fat adapted.

Billionnairewannabe · 21/10/2015 19:23

Felling a bit more peckish today but resisted temptation to stuff eat a biscuit. Feeling a bit tired, maybe overdid it at aerobics yesterday!

B - FF yoghurt (still can't face greens at breakfast?)
L - ham cheese tomato (difficult at work)
D - leftover bolognaise with stir fried veg (green beans, courgettes)

On 2 1/2 l water but think I def need the magnesium & calcium supplement Stonefox!

CharlieSierra · 21/10/2015 19:27

Just checking in as I didn't get chance yesterday. After my weekend I'm doing well and feeling good, but don't feel I've lost anything yet.

Yesterday B- yogurt/cream, L- spinach, avocado, salmon fillet, Mayo D- home made meatballs & roasted veg

Today B- yogurt/cream, L- spinach, avocado, meatballs, Mayo D- smoked haddock, asparagus, hollandaise

BIWI · 21/10/2015 19:27

AStone

Week 1 bc was pretty good. I had two minor tiny slips but otherwise fine.

So it wasn't good then. You can't slip up. You didn't follow Bootcamp!

Felt better but disappointed that the scales showed only around a 2lb loss.

Well, this is why! You weren't following the rules!

So week 2 I've stupidly been checking the scales once maybe twice, but NEVER three times, a day.

There's no point weighing during the day - all you're doing is weighing the food and drink that you've consumed. Weight first thing, after you've been to the loo and before you get dressed!

The scales have clung on to that 2lb loss but no more.

Proving my point that it's an unforgiving way of eating

So then I think I must have read the rules wrongly and I shouldn't be eating ff yogurt and cooking my veg in butter etc etc

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Fat is good. You must eat fat on this way of eating! It's really important that you understand why this is - have a read of some of the resources on the spreadsheet, to explain the science behind low carbing, and why fat isn't the evil that it's portrayed to be.

And then last night I got soooooo disheartened that I opened some Pringles!! Grrrrrr.

Grrrr indeed! So you self-sabotaged, and to make yourself feel better, you self-sabotaged even more. By which you have guaranteed that you won't see a decent loss on the scales on Monday.

So what will you do then?

OP posts:
BIWI · 21/10/2015 19:31

thisisgettingridiculous

ff greek yog for breakfast, 3 boiled eggs and 200g emmenthal for lunch (I know, it was a hideous amount to eat but I was very hungry!)

This isn't much at all - no wonder you were hungry! And also, where's your veg/salad? This way of eating isn't about dropping those important sources of nutrients.

Dinner was half a pot of hummus. I know it is not allowed but it was the only thing I could stomach.

Why on earth are you eating hummous?! It's not Bootcamp-allowed. And again - where is your veg/salad? You're not eating properly at all

will have pickled onions and pickled beetroot later for my supper.

WTAF?! Have you read the rules of Bootcamp? Neither of these is low carb - onions and beetroot on their own are high carb - but pickled involves sugar, so they're definitely not allowed.

You really, really, really need to re-read Bootcamp rules and eat properly.

OP posts:
BIWI · 21/10/2015 19:35

StuntNun

For constipation - more water, more fat. Other things to consider are strong coffee, high strength vitamin C. Massaging your stomach with a tennis ball in a circular motion (can't remember if it should be clockwise or anti-clockwise - sorry!)

Exercise - if you can fit it in.

Obviously making sure you're eating enough veg/salad.

And in cases of sheer desperation, I can vouch for Thornton's sugar-free toffee. Just go easy though - I pulled a muscle in my stomach when I ate a whole packet, as I had no idea the effect it would have Blush

Gcalgske · 21/10/2015 20:01

Thumb you can make chicken or duck scratchings....they are pretty amazing.

regenerationfez · 21/10/2015 20:03

Hi all, just checking in for today. I'm eating low carb, but due to work I seem to be eating randomly at silly times, so snacking. Not sure if that is no good. Im also slacking on the water, although I'm drinking lots of tea and herbal tea. . Here goes today
B: Greek youghurt, coffee with cream
Early lunch/ brunch because was still Hungry- scrambled eggs and a sausage
snacks on the run: Babybels cocktail sausages
dinner Baked salmon and stir fry veg with soy sauce.

I didn't check the carbs on the packet stuff though, so I may well have eaten high carb sausages or soy sauce. Don't feel like I'm in ketosis so I think I need to be more strict and not go on BC light yet. I'm being really rubbish with the water so I'm constipated a bit. Had a frustrating day at work, but didn't hit the Vodka or biscuits as a result which is amazing for me!

CalmYoBadSelf · 21/10/2015 20:38

If you go down the Thornton's sugarfree toffee route, eat it when you are alone. It does not act quietly Grin

For those of you that have not experienced this delight. This is very similar

BIWI · 21/10/2015 20:50

regeneration - as I've said to others - where is your veg/salad?!

You really need to plan your meals better, so that you're not having to make bad choices - I can guarantee that those cocktail sausages will have been high in carbs!
