Week 1 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - Are you ready?!

BIWI · 11/10/2015 22:44

Evening all!

I'm starting the chat thread a little early, because I have to be at work at sparrow's fart tomorrow.

So here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, created and curated by the very lovely SayrraT

You don't have to add your weight - but you can also be on the spreadsheet without entering your actual weight. If you want, you can index it - which means that you start at 100. For every pound that you lose, lose a point. So if you lose 4lbs in week one, then you'll start week 2 at 96.

Have a good look at the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet, as there is all sorts of really important information there - not least of which is Bootcamp rules.

If you haven't done Bootcamp before, I'd suggest that you print off the rules and stick them somewhere that you'll see them regularly. In addition, I'd also suggest that you print off the list of vegetables and their carb counts.

If you have any particular questions, the questions thread is here - it's often the case that the chat thread moves so quickly in the early weeks that questions can easily get missed.

And don't forget the recipe thread! There are loads of lovely recipes on here - the thread is almost full, but there's still room for any more low carb recipes you might want to add.

Above all, good luck to you all. Bootcamp is designed to be simple and straightforward, but it isn't easy. If you have any problems, or think things aren't working, please come and chat about it here.

Thanks Huntthepigsear. It may well be water as have been pissing like a racehorse all day.
B: 2 egg omelette, chorizo, olive oil, Delouis mayonnaise.
L: half a corgette and spinach sauteed in olive oil, spicy mackerel fillet.
S: half a packet of pork scratchings.
D: posh full beef meatballs, asparagus with butter.
2 litres of water so far. 2 coffees with double cream.

BestIsWest · 13/10/2015 19:30

Ok, day 2.

B- M&S 95 % pork sausages with mayo. These are less than 1 carb per 100g but they are pretty horrible really. Won't be buying them again.
L- chicken thigh, green salad, olive oil dressing
D currently in the oven but will be salmon with spinach and mashed swede.

Also 1 coffee with cream. Tea. Lots of it.

CharlieSierra · 13/10/2015 19:43

Day 2 - so far so good:

B - avocado (I an a creature of habit) 2 filter coffees with cream
L - tuna, hm Mayo, green salad
D - IPD butter chicken with added mushrooms, cauliflower

I drink tea as well, but I find the unsweetened almond milk fine in it, I haven't drunk any milk at all since my first BC a year ago. I have it in chai as well (I love the chilli one).

Balonder · 13/10/2015 19:52

I hope everyone is having a good day 2. I had B full fat greek yoghurt (Lidl), L salad with chicken and cheese, mayo and dressing. D crustless quiche with yet more salad. Feeling good about this woe today. I can't seem to cut down on tea though am having less milk

debka · 13/10/2015 20:12

Having a good day 2 too :)
B- egg mayo and bacon cooked in butter
L- salad with chicken, avocado and coleslaw
D- bolognese LC stylee with stir fried aubergine and mushrooms
S- kale crisps (YUM)

for the poster who was asking about crunchy things to eat try pork scratchings, or homemade crackling, celery sticks dipped in tuna mayo/ cream cheese/ egg mayo, or kale crisps.

PseudoBadger · 13/10/2015 20:16

Breakfast - total with extra thick double cream (needed to be used up!)
Lunch - same soup as yesterday
Dinner - chicken kebabs with uber-coleslaw and salad

Snack - cheddar and butter

Water and less tea/coffee than yesterday

ShebaQueen · 13/10/2015 20:50

Hello everyone, successful day for me, cheese and spinach omelette for breakfast, tuna salad for lunch with oily dressing and chilli from the recipe thread with cauliflower rice for dinner. A good water day too, I really notice it on the scales if I don't keep my water intake up. Good to see everyone doing well Smile

yongnian · 13/10/2015 20:57

Checking in late tho I did start yest. Haven't added weight as can't update spreadsheet anymore.
Anyhow, am 10lbs heavier than my lowest from previous bootcamps. (lowest was this May) So would like to play properly this time and get it back off..last bootcamp was a write-off for personal reasons.
No slips up first 2 days, will start listing daily intake tomorrow.
Over and out!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/10/2015 21:17

Err...headaches starting to kick in Shock. Is it best to plough through or ok to use paracetamol etc? Is this carb flu starting?

regenerationfez · 13/10/2015 22:08

Day 2 mostly good.

2 eggs for breakfast,
pork chop for lunch
chicken curry with cauli rice for dinner.

Did have a couple of teas with splashes of milk as I was out.

I really need to nsort the water out though! Have no idea why I keep forgetting to drink then get to 9.30 at night, parched and with a litre of liquid to drink before bed!!!

regenerationfez · 13/10/2015 23:06

Can we have low cal hot chocolate with cream??? Delish!

Kleptronic · 14/10/2015 00:55

If it's over 3g per 100g carbs, and it will be, then No, no low cal choc. Sorry. Carbalicious.

NoPieInPumpkin · 14/10/2015 02:47

Just checking in to say I've added my Monday morning weight to the spreadsheet and I've made a start but need to get more serious. Too many distractions at work; I work in a school and I often need to avoid the staff room due to the number of treats. I walk in make my coffee and walk out again! Breakfast of eggs coming up...

BIWI · 14/10/2015 06:33

regeneration - not much veg/salad going on yesterday! That's where your carbs should be coming from, not hot chocolate.

And also, remember that the first couple of weeks of Bootcamp are about trying to break the hold that sweet things have over us - so it's not just about the carbs. And if it's low calorie hot chocolate, then it will have been sweetened with artificial sweeteners, which are also not allowed on Bootcamp.

Have you read the rules?!

StoneFoxMama · 14/10/2015 07:20

Yesterday was great, I suspect only as I was so busy.

B. Coffee with double cream
L.mozzarella, basil and tomato salad with olive oil and vinegar
S.chicken thigh & homade coleslaw

I might make creamy courgette soup today as have the last of them from the late summer batch, to be served with poached egg and parmesan cheese.

SayrraT · 14/10/2015 07:21

Definite NO to the low calorie hot chocolate!

Once we are into BClite you can experiment with cocoa (unsweetened) and cream to make a hot chocolate but not on day 2 of BC.

parsnipenjoyer · 14/10/2015 07:40

Morning gang, loving all the positive messages so far!
Have had a good start - my sister has been staying but she's a) into clean eating and b) happy to be cooked for so it's been fine. We had a low carb bolognese with courgetti last night and she contributed a stack of cheeses for 'pudding', bless her. Buffalo Brie is delicious, I had never even heard of it! Today's grub:
B: coffee with cream & total yogurt
L: leftover bolognese with spinach
D: turkey stir fry made with coconut oil, cream and lots of green things

bettybiggestballs · 14/10/2015 09:06

Arrgghhhhhh. My carefully prepared lunchbox of breakfast, leftovers for lunch and snacks are currently sitting on the kitchen table. I'm now at work. Grrrrrr. I HATE forgetting things. Lunch will now be an assembly job from Tesco and breakfast is a coffee with cream

glenthebattleostrich · 14/10/2015 09:18

Morning all,

Good day yesterday, think I'm starting to get back into proper eating. Did a sneaky weight check this morning and was very encouraged to see the scales going down :)

Today's food plan -

B FF Greek yogurt, 2 chai tea with cream (1 with coconut oil)
L thin steaks fried in butter with salad
D lamb curry (homemade)

S babybel (hopefully won't be needed)

Off to fill up my water jug and my glass.

Have a great day everyone

Huntthepigsear · 14/10/2015 09:43
