Morning. Apologies for late start to this week's thread, but I'm off work poorly today, and had a bit of a lie-in.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And don't forget the Weight Tracker

Good luck for this week

I don't want to wake MIL so i don't want them screaming. Also the bathrooms are filled with dangerous stuff for DS1 to get into. I'm off to wake Dh as i'm starving. I will now have a bath i think and leave him to it.

ChesterDrawers · 03/03/2015 10:17

No advice MrsK but Flowers

lurkingmurking · 03/03/2015 10:20

MrsK if you're going to be back and forth staying there can you box all up all the dangerous stuff and at least back it a bit more habitable for you?

lurkingmurking · 03/03/2015 10:28

Reporting in on the Alpro coconut 'milk' drink. It is odd and really does nothing for coffee as it's really really un-creamy. I shall be ditching and attempting to either have black coffee or non at all apart from BPC.

Pisseslikeahorse · 03/03/2015 10:44

imustbepatient thanks will give it a try, I so want it on the table to just sprinkle.

Chester something to keep in mind is that you shouldn't need to load as much as carb eaters, your better off making sure that you have enough water to keep you going. (lack of water slows down the fat to energy conversion). its a funny but you have so much more energy stored to call on with this WOE. Its best to go for some snacks, like sassandfaff suggested and perhaps a yogurt, pig snacks or chunks of butter to make you feel fuller.

MrsK Flowers hope it gets better

beautifulthing62 · 03/03/2015 12:15

SO.....thanks to all who helped with my plea over the weekend. I braved the scales this morning and I am 2lbs down (but without dressing gown which weighs 2lbs) so I've probably stayed the same but that is OK. I just didn't want to put on. Really trying with the water and I think that has helped. Hope BIWI is feeling better.

miffy49 · 03/03/2015 13:21

You know what they say lurking, the only silly question is the obe you were too shy to ask! No, mayo isn't dairy.

I looked at that Alpro coconut as I can't use nut milks due to the oxalate content. I got the impression that it was intended as a drink in place of fruit juice rather than a milk substitute. Maybe that's why its thin.

BIWI · 03/03/2015 13:37

Chester why not try something like these no-pastry quiches:

Here

Easy to do and sound lovely!

MrsK sorry you're having such a shit time, but I have to ask you a couple of things:

  • do you have to go to MILs all the time? I get that she's ill, but you're not exactly having a party yourself are you? Couldn't DH go without you for once?
  • and related to this, where is your DH when your little ones are kicking off? Why can't he have them so that you can go to the loo?

It seems to me that no-one is actually thinking about you in the middle of all of this.

Thumbwitch · 03/03/2015 13:39

From what I remember, MrsK's ILs are even less flexible than her own parents. Trying to do anything remotely sensible will cause real problems with her FIL. I know you're not in the best position for it, MrsK - but is there any chance you could stay elsewhere than in their home? Primarily for your DSs' safety, as well as your own sanity?

miffy49 · 03/03/2015 13:43

pisses is right Chester. I think its Phinney and Volek who say that even the very lean, elite athletes carry enough fat calories not to need to carb load but if you don't down the water the ketone levels will rise in your blood and it will shut off fat burning. Hopefully you will sweat enough not to need pee stops! Grin

ChesterDrawers · 03/03/2015 13:56

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to go for a little selection box of mini quiche, nuts, olives, babybels, maybe a cooked sausage or two, and bit of cucumber for some veg Grin. I might chuck in a bar of 85% too for a bit of a treat. I'll have a big breakfast before I start too and plenty of water and hopefully I'll be ok.

It's not so much carb loading, or lack of, that worries me, it's getting hungry and being faced with no LC/easy options.

BIWI · 03/03/2015 14:17

All of those sound perfect Chester! Good luck with it - what's it in aid of?

CHESTER - try my ricotta and chorizo bites in the recipe section, loads of lovely fat, tasty and great to eat cold. Basically similar to a crustless quiche but made with ricotta instead of eggs. Good luck for the walk, drink loads but dont do a paula radcliff!!!

MRSK -sending sympathies, no useful advice except wake up DH. 2 kids, 2 adults is much easier. I put one in the bath and one playing on the floor. Can you not erect a travel cot aka baby prison? Its tough at someone else house esp if they cant or wont help make it easier.

Had to have light mayo with my lunch at Inlaws - yuck full fat is so much nicer. Still need to go food shopping as nothing in but DS asleep so catching up on MN! when i should be doing housework - sigh

ijustwanttobeme · 03/03/2015 14:28

Afternoon everyone.

Hope you're feeling better BIWI

Flowers for you Mrs K

Had a chicken thigh and a chunk of cheese for breakfast, plus a coffee with cream.

Lunch was chicken and ham salad.

DSS is cooking dinner tonight, so not sure what it'll be. He knows I'm LCing though, so should be ok.

lurkingmurking · 03/03/2015 14:59

Argh I have major TOTM munchies. Just been to M&S and got raspberries, nuts and crispy bacon slices.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 03/03/2015 15:12

I fancy coleslaw... Is there a fantastic yummiest coleslaw in the world recipe that anyone would recommend?

Fatstacks · 03/03/2015 15:20

I'm trying to ubercamp.

The cat is taking it's life in it's paws by wandering around looking like a tigerloaf.

LexLoofah · 03/03/2015 15:38

Pisses I haven't made pork belly salt but have made bacon salt from instructions here:

suddenlunch.blogspot.com/2012/01/bacon-salt.html

sassandfaff · 03/03/2015 15:51

lurking me too. I've eaten almost a full bag of salted cashew nuts. (Gave dd3 a handful)

Feeling a bit meh, about it stalling me.

B- Greek yogurt raspberries
L- bacon and eggs
D?
S- cashew nuts. 85% choc.

BIWI · 03/03/2015 15:56

Yes there is, Beyond! It's in the ubercamp section on the spreadsheet and also copied on to the recipe thread.

But as I'm so kind to you all, I've searched for it, and here it is:

Coleslaw

125g white cabbage (less than 1/4 of a cabbage)
75g carrot (1 medium-sized carrot)
25g shallot (1/2 a banana/echalion shallot)

Slice white cabbage thinly
Grate carrot finely (don't use the largest holes on the grater)
Chop shallot finely

Add oil and wine vinegar - roughly 3 tablespoons oil and 1 tablespoon vinegar, and salt and black pepper. Stir everything well together. Leave for half an hour or so. Just before serving, stir in a tablespoon of mayo.

This will make 2 portions

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 03/03/2015 16:03

Fantastic, thank you biwi! :)

sassandfaff · 03/03/2015 16:03

I made one last summer that was yogurt and mayo with mustard. It was really nice.

I'll try to find it.

MrsKoala · 03/03/2015 16:06

Thanks for all the sympathy. I feel like a massive bastard moaning about it as poor MIL doesn't have much longer. And i totally understand why i am the bottom of everyones priority list atm - as i should be really. But it is hard.

We were all last here 4wks ago (time flies!) and DH has come twice to visit in between times. MIL wants to see the boys tho too. In fact MIL has deteriorated quite a bit now so i think this may be the last, or at least penultimate visit from the dc.

It's hard to explain the house. All your suggestions would work in a 'normal' house. But this is a huge pile in a country park. If you imagine a small Victorian stately home (including decor). It's like a less fancy Downe House (Darwins house). There are 4 bathrooms (only one bath works tho), 2 sets of stairs - the posh entrance stairs and the back servants stairs. The stairs are very wide and lethal grand, with a kind of mezzanine landing overlooking the entrance hall (which ds1 like to throw soap over and try to climb). There is little heating. The plumbing is screwed. All the rooms are full of gorgeous antiques and glass collections etc (think a very full antique shop in a posh village) as well as stock piles of bleach and rat poison. There is a 'larder' that a restaurant kitchen would be proud of.

DH went to bed at 8.30 last night with DS1 (ds one can open the door so if he woke and came out he would fall down the stairs) so i was alone with DS2. DS2 screams if you put him down. My back is so crappy i can't put him in a travel cot or on the floor. There are about 8 bedrooms but only 2 are seviceable. Me and the dc sleep in a double bed with DH sleeping on the floor at the end. This is partly the reason we have put off getting ds1 into his own bed as he has to sleep with us at both GPs house and we visit often, so it would undo all our efforts.

Don't get me wrong, it really is the most beautiful house and the furniture and decor is gorgeous. But it's not toddler/child friendly at all and it needs a lot of work. In fact the boiler has gone again so we are without heat today too. PILs have a gas fire in the lounge and that tends to be the only room they heat. The fridge has broken and they are still using it. So as well as out of date food, it's now all being kept in what is essentially a luke warm cupboard. mmmmmm

The tv is over 25 years old and only MIL can work it.

Pils have been joking constantly about fil not being able to cook or turn the telly on but it's okay because 'he has a woman who can' this weekend, as if MIL is going to be around forever. They aren't grasping that poor mil probably wont even be here this time next month. Nthing is planned. Fil can't look after himself, use the microwave or even turn on the fucking tv. What the fuck is he going to do?

GAH!!!
