Week 2 - January Low Carb Bootcamp - the first moment of truth!

Good morning! Already seen that there are some good losses, even for those in the dreaded week 3 Grin

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this point in Bootcamp. It's such a leap of faith for so many people when they first start low carbing, because it seems so strange to eat all the fat we're told to eat. But then when the scales show the result, I love it!

There's some brilliant losses here. Well done everyone. I'm in week 3 so not sure how it will go for me. Haven't managed to weigh as my scales have run out of battery Angry

Food today
B - coffee with cream
L - broc, cauliflower and ham soup, ff yog
D - haggis (not as lc as I'd like but had to be done) loads of buttery mashed swede

No snacks
Loads of water

WireCat · 26/01/2015 17:50

Thanks lurkingmurking

ijustwanttobeme · 26/01/2015 18:03

Just checking in.

Usually on my birthday I have cake cake and more cake.

Instead today I had

B: coffee with cream, ham and cheese
L: Thai chicken wings and tom yum soup
D: will be Indian made by DP's fair hand. No rice, poppadums or naans in sight. Plenty of salad though.

Tough one tomorrow, as have two meetings in two different locations. First one is quite early and has breakfast included- carb central with croissants and pastries no doubt. Then I'll be straight on a train to the next one- did someone say on the prev thread, that M and S are good for low carb food on the go?

Wombat22 · 26/01/2015 18:12

There are some fantastic losses. Congratulations everyone Thanks
3 lb on for me but that's what happens because I ate crap didn't follow the rules Blush But this is a new week. Onwards and downwards everyone Smile

CharlieSierra · 26/01/2015 18:15

It was me that said I can always find a good LC lunch in M&S, I normally go for a salad bowl with salmon, chicken or prawns - I think Pret have some good options too, but I don't have access to one so not sure what they are.

RandomHouseRules · 26/01/2015 18:16

Have had a day mostly at home today with youngest DC. We did lots of cooking together, so meals for the next three days are sorted and I have done some really fairly low-c stuff for the DCs as as well, including a LC fish pie which they had this evening and was declared 'delicious' by both fussy burgers of them earlier. I am also feeling quite skinny (I am not, but I am definitely closer to it than I was after Xmas!!). Such a great feeling and very motivating.

Today:
b: low-c pancakes with avocado
L: leftover pork and cauli cheese from last night, with cucumber
Snack: had a tiny bit of goats cheese while kids had their tea
D will be fish pie, with swede mash topping.

Not sure I have had enough water to day though. I find it much easier when at work for some reason. Have drunk quite a lot of black tea tho as it is fffffrrrrrreeeezing here today.

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 26/01/2015 18:31

Happy Birthday Ijustwanttobe me Flowers

DrDiva · 26/01/2015 18:32

Well done on the weight losses!

Work was utterly freezing today. Sad We are in two listed buildings, they keep the main one lovely and toasty, but have decided to save money by turning off the heating in our one over the weekend. We were all sitting in scarves and overcoats, watching our breath puff out. I came home early and ate bloody loads, I think to warm up. Had also had lunch early. Thus, food so far today:
B egg, slice chicken, handful roast cauliflower
L pastrami, salad, mozzarella
Second lunch: courgette cooked in butter, a chunk of smoked sausage, a bit of chicken and a coffee with cream
D will be salmon on a blt stack with vinaigrette. Except I may use the wild mushrooms instead of tomato.

sassandfaff · 26/01/2015 18:44

D- pork stew/casserole with swede mash.

Had a look at several pork recipes and decided to mix and match. Turned out really well.

Fried 2 packs diced pork in coconut oil, moved onto a plate about 3 quarters done.
Fried 2 shallots, 3 celery sticks and 2 leeks, added butter and garlic until soft.
Put in about 10 mushrooms and added pork back in.
Poured in 700ml water with 2 chicken stockcubes (probably should have been less)
Reduced down, added cream 5 mins at the end.
Delish.

Happy birthday ijustwant

thenightsky · 26/01/2015 18:56

4lb. Good!

Almahart · 26/01/2015 18:56

Breakfast, half an avocado with oil, Serrano ham, BPC
Lunch, braised beef and mushroom, veg
Snack, pork scratchings, pack of olives, two hard boiled eggs and butter
Another snack, bits of cold chicken and beef while cooking
Dinner. Broccoli, mushroom and beef stir fry

I find myself feeling hungry on this woe, which I don't like!! That seems like a lot of food to me but I was still starving when I got home at 6

lurkingmurking · 26/01/2015 18:58

Happy birthday ijustwant

M&S is brilliant. Their deli range has a done of stuff you can munch on.

BestIsWest · 26/01/2015 18:58

Well done everyone.

4lbs off for me, can someone update the spreadsheet for me please.

For those disheartened I just want to say that I lost nothing in the first two weeks of bootcamp the first time I did it but then the weight started coming off. I guess we are all different in the way we lose weight.

SayraT · 26/01/2015 18:59

Sorry, I had no internet this morning and that is me just back from work now.

I will read through the thread and update the spreadsheet for those who can't at some point this evening

I've put on 2 lbs this week, I know why so it won't happen again. I am going to strictly record my meals to help keep me on track.

Today

B: Bacon, coffee with cream
L: Chicken breast, green beans
S: Three baby cucumbers, red pepper, cheese
D: Buttery fried spring greens with fried eggs and chorizo (in other words random stuff that is in the fridge!)

readyforno2 · 26/01/2015 19:01

Happy birthday ijustwant Thanks (instead of cake)

Earlybird · 26/01/2015 19:06

Bit late adding to the spreadsheet, but I am down a little over 5 lbs in the first week - very pleased. I didn't think it would be as much as I had several meals out where i knew it would be tricky to stay on plan.

Still have to confess to having difficulty getting in the amounts of water we are supposed to consume, but will persevere.

Congratulations to everyone else.

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 26/01/2015 19:08

B - Ham & emmental slices
S - pepperami
L - veg soup, crayfish mayo salad
S - 10 almonds (i am doing BCL)
D - 3 M&S sausages, roasted shredded brussel sprouts.

I know Biwi will wave the stick at me, too much processed meat today!

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 26/01/2015 19:09

Whoops, also had 2 hard boiled eggs at lunch.

TheSkinnyProject · 26/01/2015 19:15

I don't know how to do dread sheet on iPad I was 148 lbs. I'm now 146. So loss of 2 and period is here

I've stuck to it except for a bit of 70% dark chocolate.

TheSkinnyProject · 26/01/2015 19:15

Spreadsheet Grin

Notsoskinnyminny · 26/01/2015 19:19

just a quicky as I've only just got home and need to go and rescue DS as the trains are off so he's started walking because he can't get a taxi, I think 13 miles is a bit too far even for him

2lb off for me and another one shocked at the carb count for cabbage, just as I discover braised cabbage Sad

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 26/01/2015 19:25

Dinner - duck leg with roast swede and asparagus. Mayo.

Had a bit of a slightly accidental wobble earlier. Had the same amount of dark chocolate i was having last time i did bc lite, without checking the brand. Only afterwards did i find out it had more sugar than i was expecting. Not massively off track, but more than i would have liked, considering i'm not having the whooshes everyone else is.

Happy birthday ijustwant! Flowers luckily i have nearly a year til i have to think about lc on my 30th birthday

DrDiva · 26/01/2015 19:51

Happy birthday ijustwant ! Hope you had a great day.

skinnyproject I love the dread sheet! Grin

RandomHouseRules · 26/01/2015 19:59

My lovely DH just came home with a pretty good looking LC cookbook (low carb revolution) which he picked up for four quid from the BookPeople at work. Some great ideas to try out next week.

RandomHouseRules · 26/01/2015 20:00

Oh and Happy Birthday ijustwant! I am very impressed that you have been so good. It was my birthday just before BC started, otherwise I would have immediately fallen off the wagon!
