Week 2 - January Low Carb Bootcamp - the first moment of truth!

BIWI · 26/01/2015 07:33

Good morning! Already seen that there are some good losses, even for those in the dreaded week 3 Grin

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this point in Bootcamp. It's such a leap of faith for so many people when they first start low carbing, because it seems so strange to eat all the fat we're told to eat. But then when the scales show the result, I love it!

2.5lb down, which since Jan 1st is 15.5lb, so still not a BMI fatty yet hopefully will be next week.

Gonna have to watch the cabbage consumption though got lazy and was stir frying it all week. Must have eaten 2 large heads on my own.

Will be brining my own Bacon tonight - We did home made bacon then chopped off a 2lb chunk and boiled for 2 hours was just best ham ever. Saves a fortune Pork loin is way cheaper then ham and bacon.

BIWI · 26/01/2015 20:06

Just a quick word to say - you can eat higher carb veg like cabbage - the idea is to focus on veg that's 3g carbs per 100g, but it doesn't mean you have to do so exclusively!

Hi all

Good to see so many great losses posted. Smile

I've had a very long day, just having my tea now.

B- total yogurt and ground vanilla.
L- salmon spinach and baby kale salad with mayo.
Pre-gym snack - chicken breast (skin on)
D- cauliflower cheese.

E- cardio class, spin class.

Lots of water today, but very thirsty so will have more with my tea.

Pisseslikeahorse · 26/01/2015 20:25

Hi all,

I'm burbling along dropping slowly wondering what else will shift if I don't go into maintenance proper - for me the perfect weight thing has always been a bit of a unknown quantity and the running thing is better lighter it seems.

Had a big run yesterday and then spent the rest of the time cooking, so home made pork scratchings, roast streaky bacon (home made frazzles), pork rashers. and a stewed beef for dinner Smile

Today has been
B. bacon 3 eggs
L. veg olives and mayo
D. cold pork rashers and mashed swede

Mrsstevejones · 26/01/2015 20:39

Hi wise low carbers! I bought some harissa paste... what can i do with it? I have never used it before.

I am cooking a chicken in the slow cooker and so far looks promising.

Had lamb chops cooked in the slow cooker with left over tomato and roasted pepper sauce and herb. Served with courgette and kale cooked in garlic butter and swede mash with butter - yummy but didnt have too much of the sauce.

MrsHerculePoirot · 26/01/2015 20:42

pisses can you come and cook for me?!?!

DisenchantedPony · 26/01/2015 20:45

Harissa is really nice on top of white fish, paste some on top of a raw fillet then bake. Really tasty.

Also nice as a marinade with chicken. I just mix up harissa paste with olive oil then coat those mini chicken fillets then bake.

I haven't had either for ages....something for dinner tomorrow I think Grin

BlueberryHope · 26/01/2015 20:46

DrDiva - I am sure you can walk out of work if it's that cold! Union rules or something? Seeing your breath in clouds is too too much...
MrsSteve - Harissa is good spread on white fish or chicken then oven-baked. Or you can thin it (thicken it!) with sour cream or double cream and have as a dip for veggies? Or add as a topping to a plain-ish chicken and veg stew to make it more exciting? (My DFIL makes his own which is soooo good we just eat it with a spoon...)

BlueberryHope · 26/01/2015 20:46

Haha - xposted with Disenchanted!

Mrsstevejones · 26/01/2015 20:48

Hi Disenchanted - thanks i have pork chops out tomorrow, so i will marinate them and bake over some green veg.

SayraT · 26/01/2015 21:01

5 lbs is really good MrsK, men always seem to lose more when LCing even when not trying quite as hard!

amaxapax some people record their lowest weight from the week on the spreadsheet.

Hello newrecruit, welcome Smile I see you have added yourself to the spreadsheet so good start!

Hope you get to your goal this BC random 2lbs is a good start.

Sometimes that is the way isn't it natural, that is why it can be useful to take measurements as well.

Whoop whoop indeed apophenia Grin

MrsSteve let us know how MrSteve gets on...damn these fast weight-losing men! Grin

Well done to Costa and MrCosta I would have thought those might be nice as savoury pancakes but I'll give them a miss.

MontserratCaballe yeah, don't blame you, if I had an excuse to stay in bed then I would.

muffin don't be disappointed, 2 lbs is great. At that rate you know that is is "weight" rather than water loss.

imustbepatient brilliant start.

Good start DrDiva Smile

See you in the morning then pistey

2lbs off with AF is brilliant glen

vdibley not everyone stalls in week 3 but BIWI always warns us all so that people don't get disheartened at STS or gaining in week 3/4/5

Perfect start with 2lbs charlie

Someone has updated it chester

Good feeling when something is too big or you need to tighten your belt isn't it surprised?

Well done galbraith yep, it is very achievable on this WOE. When you start out it just seems so unbelievable because we've all been misinformed about fat haven't we?

Someone has done it sass

mootime great news on the snug trousers Smile

Some people seem to have issues with the spreadsheet guy it seems to be people with ipads mostly, I am afraid I don't know how to sort it. Someone has updated you already.

chipping I am not vegetarian but I do not know what I'd do without eggs on this WOE. You must have to be really organised.

yourmywifenow hope you get sorted soon, of course it isn't a problem to stay around and to use the spreadsheet. Enjoy the cruise when it comes, where are you off too?

I just avoided haggis and all the trimmings pretty, today at work they had very delicious looking cranachan but I closed my eyes as I walked past it!!

newbie just be aware that you might have carb cravings tomorrow and also it might have a negative effect on your weight loss next week. This WOE is not a WOE when you can eat something off track one day and get back on track the next with no effect. Just to warn you.

Yummy, send some of those pork scratching this way pisses

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 26/01/2015 21:02

I have decided not to weigh this week. Will power is fragile, motivation is fragile, ability to deal with life is fragile. So it is not worth it. Another harsh lesson today. Went training without having had a proper lunch. Face planted afterwards with the shakes. So I am going to stay focused and just gently plod along working on improvement in health, balancing of minerals etc (Oxo cube/ day is really helping) and trying to get far more sleep than what was had at the weekend and which has really affected me today. Caffine levels to be down too.

been a while since I last saw you don't worry you won't recognise this name but it will make sense eventually

SayraT · 26/01/2015 21:05

SPREADSHEET NEWS

If you have not used the spreadsheet at all by the end of this week you will be deleted to help speed loading up.

If you fill in the spreadsheet for someone can you comment on the thread so that I know and it saves me looking through to update people who have already been updated.

Finally, if you can't update the spreadsheet yourself and want me/someone else to do it can you please give the actual weight in lb please. Otherwise the person updating has to convert your weight into lb or do mental arithmetic (which I am crap at!) when you just say x lb off this week.

Thank you Smile

P.S very sorry if I missed you on my superpost, it was not intentional if I did.

SayraT · 26/01/2015 21:06

Sorry you are feeling fragile bitchy Flowers

Mrsstevejones · 26/01/2015 21:13

Sayra t - for some reason i am on the spreadsheet twice, so you can delete one of me if you like!

Poppy162428 · 26/01/2015 21:14

Hi All, can we eat shredded coconut? I noticed someone (sorry can't remember who) had posted they ate coconut porridge.
Was thinking of adding it to my Total Yogurt.....

BIWI · 26/01/2015 21:16

Sorry to hear things aren't going so well, Bitchy. Sounds like you need to go a bit easier on yourself Flowers

OP posts:
MoJangled · 26/01/2015 21:16

2.2 lb off for me this week, which anyone who remembers me from last BC will know is a mahooosive loss for me. Chuffed!

Gentle and nice to self is the way to go Bitchy - hope you feel better tomorrow.

I suspect my thyroid is underperforming a bit, although only subclinically - blood tests come back fine but I have a list of thyroid symptoms as long as my arm, but LCing has really helped with general feelings of energy and alertness. Off to read BIWI's link!

Well done everyone! Next 9 weeks are a synch Grin

yongnian · 26/01/2015 21:18

Thanks thumbwitch!
B: eggs butter and mayo
L: pancetta fried in butter with mozzarella pints nuts and oily spinach
S: pork scratch
D: butchers beef burger with cheese lettuce and mayo
S: square 90% choc
W: 2.5 ltr

MoJangled · 26/01/2015 21:19

Sayra I'm a bit worried that I might have buggered the spreadsheet. When I entered this week's weight it told me that I had lost 14 lb - which while very wonderful isn't true. I entered my starting weight, but then realised that the previous weight had been my actual starting weight in May last year when I began phasing out carbs. So apart from realising for the first time that I have lost a stone (yay!), did the spreadsheet need to know that and now I've wiped it?

(can you tell I'm a bit scared of the spreadsheet?)

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 26/01/2015 21:22

Tbh i think predominantly it is the psychological after effects of the problems triggered last week (now resolved thanks to BIWI's advice) and complete lack of sleep at the weekend. 2 nights when I couldn't go to bed until at least 5am are hard even if you are allowed to sleep 6 hours during the day. Couple of good nights sleep and it should be alright but just seems stupid to put pressure on a weigh in so was heeding earlier advice given to another poster. There are so many useful bits of advice to all the posters I do find it really helps to take the time to read through everything. But I am already tucked up in bed and drowsy so I shall bid you all good night.

Congratulations to all the losers, well done to all who are still bootcamping, sorry to hear about those who are having health issues.

SayraT · 26/01/2015 21:23

Spreadsheet is fine mo did you add the wrong weight last time maybe? Well done on losing the stone, maybe the spreadsheet just thought you should know? Grin

Apophenia · 26/01/2015 21:23

Can somebody's please add my weigh in weight, 165lbs. Thank you. Thanks Thanks Thanks

Supermum0203 · 26/01/2015 21:46

SAYRA. T
Thanks for your nice words. I will try to work out my weight in lb next time and I will kindly ask you to add it for me as I'm having a bit of trouble with the spread sheet Flowers

cymrukernow · 26/01/2015 21:50

Made "normal" pizza for the family today (my speciality) and made a cauliflower pizza base for me. Was a bit embarrassed to eat it in front of the kids was it was so clearly NOT a "normal pizza" - more like a cauliflower omelette wearing a pizza topping disguise. 8yo DD looked at me concerned "whats that?". Actually it tasted alright, and no-one wanted to pinch a slice haha, but feel like I over ate, was seriously FULL for the first time on BC!
