I've added to the spreadsheet and weight tracker.

Still pondering how to get more fat into my daily eating. Thanks Biwi and SayraT for suggestions and encouragement.

I love yoghurt, but know I shouldn't add fruit or honey, so is there anything I can add to full fat greek yoghurt to give it a different flavour? Maybe a bit of grated cinnamon?

BIWI · 03/08/2014 16:21

I use vanilla essence sometimes

BIWI · 03/08/2014 16:21

(The real stuff though, not the flavouring!)

I've just made fat bombs Bird. Although I can't stand coconut oil, so butter, cashew nut butter, Philly and Cocoa powder, light sprinkle of ground almonds.
Lunch was Serrano ham and a stick of manchego cheese, then thin slice of warm flaxseed bread with salted butter and a pint of water.
Dinner spicy roast chicken with lots of buttery green veg for me.

SayraT · 03/08/2014 16:44

bird I sometimes add cream and/or coconut cream to yogurt. I am sure other people have said they add cinnamon before and vanilla essence like BIWI said. I am not sure if you can get other flavourings that don't have sugar/sweetener of some sort.

miffy49 · 03/08/2014 16:58

I use coconut cream, vanilla, cinnamon (sometimes all together). Greek yoghurt topped with cinnamon cream is nice too. If you like sharp tastes it goes down well with a little grated lemon rind and a bit of the juice.

Biwi and SayraT - thanks for advice.

I am trying to get to grips with exactly what i can/can't do (and what I should be doing), rather than knowing a bit, and simply winging it.

To that end:

  • How many g of carbs should I be having a day (is there a number?)
  • How much g of fat should I be having a day (is there a number?)
  • Can someone please link me to the list of allowed vegetables? I've looked and don't see it.

Thanks for walking me through this. I am determined to be one of the success stories!

Greengrow · 03/08/2014 17:49

Under 20g of carbs works for many. Perhaps aim for 60 - 70% of calories from fat.

Unlike most people when I only eat meat, fish, eggs, low carb veg and good fats I can still put on weight o r stay the same. I can see why when I compare what I eat to what people eat on here. I just eat many more calories (from the fat) then most people can manage. I still feel great and no other way of eating makes me feel this good but if you have 1000 calorie meals of fat, meat and veg that may not lose you the weight too fast.

BIWI · 03/08/2014 18:02

Earlybird here are the rules of Bootcamp If you follow these, you will be fine! The whole point of Bootcamp was that there's no need to weigh/count anything.

If you look at the tabs at the bottom you'll see the Veg Carb Counter - this gives you the carb counts for veg if you really do want to weigh/count!

There is no set limit for carbs per day because everyone has a different level that they can cope with.

There are also lots of other resources linked to on the spreadsheet - links to other sites, videos, blogs, etc - it's really worth reading up about the science behind low carbing so that you understand why we do what we do!

Im reading Pig to Twig, The IPD. I really like it. Theyre very honest about themselves, and how they came to be fat in the first place. Quite refreshing.

Earlybird · 03/08/2014 18:19

Ahh Biwi - now I see! I printed off the Bootcamp Rules, but did not notice the tabs at the bottom of the page. Thank you!

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 03/08/2014 18:28

Ive also bought myself two grown up colouring books and some lovely new colouring pencils. These are to distract me at night from wanting to munch. Grin

miffy49 · 03/08/2014 18:41

Evenings are hard for me too. I crochet to keep my hands and mind occupied. During the day I never think about eating even though I'm sorting out the evening meal and the packed lunches. Once I've had my evening meal the munchies can strike and because I'm tired its hard to be sensible.

trinitybleu · 03/08/2014 19:05

cauliflower risotto is on the hob now ... with leeks and feta cheese Smile

BIWI · 03/08/2014 20:06

Let us know how it turns out, trinity!

Barbecue here tonight - perfect low carb food!

Sausages (low carb, obviously!)
Home-made burgers (full fat mince, with shallots, salt/pepper and olive oil)
Lamb steaks, marinated in olive oil, garlic and rosemary
Aubergine slices, marinated in olive oil, with a dressing made from full fat yoghurt, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, mint and coriander
Halloumi, with an olive oil, garlic, lemon and coriander dressing,
Prawns, marinated in olive oil, garlic, lime juice and chilli powder

It was nice. Not risotto, but nice.

Just had parmesan crisps with guacamole whilst OH had Doritos and salsa. He tried one of mine and wanted to swop! Grin

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 03/08/2014 20:38

Today I had:

B - Mussels dipped in vinegar

L - 4 slices of bacon and mayo

D - a couple of tikka chicken skewers with red pepper and a bit of chicken breast with piri piri seasoning (dipped in cream cheese to cool and up the fat).

S - Half a bar of 85% Moser Roth chocolate Blush and a pepperami wide boy.

Starting to do rubbish now with fake sweet snacks that I shouldn't be having and the almond flour last night, not many carbs in that but I know it's not allowed. I've just been so bloody tired and starting exercising everyday has made me hungry but too tired to cook properly! Have only had 3 hours sleep and just can't be fussed making food.

Tomorrow I plan on ditching the sweet fake stuff again and having a lot more veg. Have bought a salad bowl and have tubs of seasoned in oil tuna and cream cheese.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 03/08/2014 20:39

I have actually made low carb cheesecakes for DP as well, I will resist having one though.
