thank you for that injection of excellent rationale.

miffy I am feeling your pain. I have had some bollock arse dreadful stalls along the way, (and I mean when I have been totally toeing the line. I hardly ever fall off the wagon. The weekend was the first time in months and I paid dearly) Did I imagine this or did you say you have EDS? I'm waiting to see some geneticisty people for further investigations for it. And sometimes mega struggle with mobility. Obvs can't run around and burn off calories in the same way.... which in turn must affect metabolism Hmm

ponygirl all sounds great - somebody may have already said this but thirst may mean you need more salt. Whilst we're on the subject, has anybody tried Himalayan pink salt? Apparently it's got all 'things' in which we need... I'm going to to order some.

Oh sayra tonsil stones you poor thing! Did you have to go a quarrying?

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 30/07/2014 18:41

I just made flax seed bread. Ok now stop me eating the whole loaf. (Too salty though) I can have toast with my dressed crab!
I haven't had carb flu this time, but am pissing like a horse.

CantEvenKeepAnOrchidAlive · 30/07/2014 18:49

Not eaten well this evening :( Had a coffee from an old packet at work earlier which I think was off as I've been feeling sick since drinking it. Managed one slice of belly pork and a mouthful cauliflower in creme fraiche & cheese. Will try to eat more of it if my stomach is better later.

B - a scrambled egg then a bowl of Onken natural biop yoghurt with cinnamo.
L - roast lamb leftovers with lettuce, mayo and cucumber.
3 litres of water, a couple of coffees and a nettle tea.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 30/07/2014 18:53

Hi all. Stick keeping on, keeping on. Refuse to weigh until Monday to avoid upsetting myself. I'm mostly lurking. Smile

readyforno2 · 30/07/2014 18:58

Felt a bit ropey this morning so didn't have any breakfast..
L- leftover Bolognese with a little grated cheese
D- tuna fish cake things off the recipes on the spreadsheets with lettuce, cucumber and 1/4 yellow pepper. They were really good, dp enjoyed them too!

Going to the gym tonight so hopefully feel the burn tomorrow.

miffy49 · 30/07/2014 19:15

Thanks Trash. It feels so unfair when you are really sticking with it and you have to sit back while others cheat like mad and get away with it doesn't it?

Its not me with EDS. I have FMS/ME. There is a theory though that hypermobile joints can play a part in FMS and I was exceptionally good at yoga when I was younger! Started doing a bit again along with my weights but the FMS has pretty well buggered my balance so I have to limit myself now. My younger son has excessive movement in some of his joints. Good luck with the investigations. I suppose when we have things that affect our energy levels our bodies will slow down metabolism and that's going to affect the rate we burn off the fat.

miffy49 · 30/07/2014 19:21

Well, I fell off the no dairy wagon good style this evening! I'm still fine carb-wise but I had cheese and cream for the first time in a fortnight. I had a good sized helping of cauliflower cheese! I was worried that it would set me off on the cheese cravings again but I don't think it will. I enjoyed it but somehow it seems more than enough and I feel I will be quite happy to leave it now. Still struggling not to have my dollop of cream on my Greek yoghurt but the cheese is now in control!

Laska42 · 30/07/2014 19:25

I havent quite stuck to no dairy as had a feta and tomato omelette last night , but my dissapeared 3lbs loss has come back (so thats good)

Today I had scrambled eggs and butter for breakfast
lunch cold :chicken with skin , hellmans ( all I had) and chilli /lemon ) small handful cherry toms and cucumber
Dinner more cold chicken courgettes sauted in butter ..
glugging water

ill try and manage though the weekend on eggs , meat and salad leaves ( but maybe my only carbs will have to be wine ! .. yes i know,..)

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 30/07/2014 19:28

Trash It's me who has EDS also FMS and POTS. Good luck with your investigations, I'm now trying to up activity level to allow me to wean off meds, it's been a long journey but physio and weights can make a massive difference once you have a definite diagnosis.

trashcanjunkie · 30/07/2014 19:44

Ah right! Got confused with you both having FMS I think - We're all stupidly hypermobile in this house. One of the ds is getting looked at by rheumy next month, and I have waited ages to hear back from mine. The stupid cow forgot to send a letter to the genetics people, and only just wrote to me apologising for forgetting. She really pissed me off at the appointment anyway, because before she even looked at me or any of my notes, she told me I probably didn't have EDS as it is extremely rare Hmm....

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 30/07/2014 19:53

My GP told me over the phone when I suggested that I had EDS that I couldn't as I a, not tall or skinny (confused it with marfans) I had to demand to be referred for it to rheum but in the end needed a specialist on a long waiting list to confirm and was told that there was no doubt! I loved going to the gp with the letter from the specialist. :o

Hope your Son is okay, mines are only nearly 3 and 1yo so can't tell yet and it makes me sick with worry.

I look forward to menopause, the specialist says in women the symptoms usually massively lessen at that point.

Also, lc is the best thing I have done, feel far more energy and less pain than I did before, I suspect it has to do with the extra protein. :) Feel free to PM if you are wondering anything about EDS or the appointments.

SayraT · 30/07/2014 19:57

Yeah trash I did...though I quite like that bit! Its just one thing I noticed on my extended carb twatness fortnight.

I am pretty knackered today, I spent a lot of time in front of the computer today so my eyes are sore and I also played badminton twice Hmm I don't know why! I played at lunch then after work.

A friend has also persuaded me to sign up for a big bike ride in September (47 miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh) oh why did I agree to that?! I've got a sore bum just thinking about it!

Todays Food

B: Eggs in a cup, coffee with cream
L: Meatballs and courgetti (last nights leftovers)
D: Pork chop, broccoli and sweet potato mash (got friend staying and that is what she asked for. Off to check carb counts and I won't have lots of it.)
S: Cucumber sticks

Just checked SP is 15g carbs/100g so not great.

miffy49 · 30/07/2014 22:52

I think its the ketones Schro. Theres more and more stuff showing that a ketogenic diet is helpful in lots of neurological conditions. A LCHF diet is actually quite moderate in protein. It certainly boosts my synapses! Grin

BIWI · 30/07/2014 23:17

Firsttimer

Today
B toast butter marmite!!!

just beware that the flaxseed can stall some people

L chicken thighs corvette

corvette?! I assume you mean courgette?

D mince and salad - bit of cheese

Extras: hard boiled eggs, Greek yog, coffee w cream or almond milk, olives

I don't think you're eating anywhere near enough veg/salad

I'm still struggling in the evenings, tiredness and emotional eating. Weightloss stalled, I'm probably eating too much but hoping ill settle down again in next few days. There's been snacking in cheese and salamis

Salami = processed!

If you're hungry, eat more fat/protein - but keep it clean!

Firsttimer7259 · 31/07/2014 07:05

Biwi thank you for that run through and yes I did mean courgette! That's helpful now I just have to actually do it.

sassandfaff · 31/07/2014 08:31

Hi.

I'm late joining. This is my 3rd day. I wanted to join weeks ago, but decided to wait for the next one, and then missed it! Argh.

Anyway, I am doing the uber one. I am really good at refusing something completely for weeks/months, and really rubbish at allowing myself to just have 1 or a small piece. So actually find uber easier than bootcamp in a perverse way!

My problem is, I have a long standing arrangement with ex colleagues that I haven't seen in over 3 years. It's basically afternoon drinks and a evening meal. I'm not bothered about the meal, I can work around that, it's the drinks!

I'm on spirit and mixer person. I can't drink beer because of a wheat intolerance and i'm not keen on wine.

I felt rather bleurgh yesterday to say the least, and I suppose my point (sorry for rambling) is; if I drink will I go back to having to restart again and go through the flu like symptoms, the headaches and the crawling back into bed after I had dropped the dc's at nursery. Blush

Firsttimer7259 · 31/07/2014 08:48

Hi sass welcome aboard, but I cant help really as new to all this, hope someone knowledgeable comes along soon.

I have finally had a drop 1.4lb down and now at lowest weight ever (well since dd) but its been 4.5 years. Im delighted and its motivating me to try to improve eating - Ive been clinging onto this by skin of teeth recently -snacking lots but sticking to LC, tho not quite BC, rules. Wondering if thats it for the week or whether more will come off by Monday....

PoirotsMoustache · 31/07/2014 08:49

Completely lost it this week and went totally off plan. Thank you, menstrual cycle Hmm Back on from tomorrow. The upside is that I am now aware of the effect carbs have on me. Bloating, wind, hunger between meals. And water retention. I hadn't noticed that all those things didn't happen when I was low-carbing (I'm really not observant at all).

Anyway, onwards and upwards and all that. Well done and good luck everyone!

StuntNun · 31/07/2014 09:16

Sass if you have to drink alcohol go for clear spirits such as gin or vodka and sugar-free mixers such as soda water or sugar-free tonic water. In social situations we often find an excuse to go off plan. Why not start the evening by announcing you're trying to cut down a bit so you won't be obliged to keep up with everyone else drink for drink. When it's your round you could just get soda water or fizzy water with ice and a slice and no-one will know the difference.

Greengrow · 31/07/2014 10:26

Marking place and may join.

sassandfaff · 31/07/2014 10:59

stuntnun vodka and soda water sounds grim! I tried gin and tonic once, ended up being totally uncouth and mixing it with coke.

I think I'd rather not drink...... I'm not totally against the idea. I could just take my car and make an excuse why dp can't pick me up from the station.

Sigh. I love cognac with Coke.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 31/07/2014 11:15

Miffy It's great anyway. :) I wouldn't go back to carby eating regularly ever now, even if I never lost any more weight.

Tempted to buy chia seeds today from Costco, are we allowed them on BC?

miffy49 · 31/07/2014 12:27

Yup, that's why I'm so mad, Schro! I do really need to lose at least another couple of stones but this way of eating makes me feel better than I have been for years. I will sacrifice the weight loss if I have to. After all, I've lost the equivalent of two sacks of cat litter, gone from a size 24/26 to a size 14 and reversed my pre-diabetes as well as improving the cognitive problems and muscle strength so shifting the rest of the weight would be the icing on the cake. Theres no way I'm going back to the brain fog! I think that was the part of FMS that really wore me down. I can deal with the pain but losing the ability to string words together or hold a sensible conversation is truly awful! No, its LC forever for me! Grin

miffy49 · 31/07/2014 12:30

Sorry, Schro, just realised you asked about chia. Never tried them as I've never really needed to delve into the depths of flax, chia and other sources of fibre. LC has much the opposite effect on me so I've tended to steer clear. I would have thought that if flax is BC the chia would be too.
