5 Week Low Carb Bootcamp, with added Ubercamp

BIWI · 21/07/2014 07:35

Morning all!

Just starting the day with a black coffee instead of my usual white one. Not quite sure if I like it or not ...

Anyway, welcome, everyone to this shorter-and-stricter-than-usual Bootcamp Grin

For those of you who are new to low carbing, I strongly suggest that you don't do Ubercamp. It's very strict and restrictive and will be a very, very hard introduction to low carbing. Far better that you get to grips with what it's all about before you also aim to cut out dairy.

For those of you that have low carbed before, you have the option this time around. You can either Bootcamp, which will last for three weeks this time, followed by two weeks of Bootcamp Light, or you can Ubercamp for the first week.

Ubercamp means no dairy (apart from butter). So the rules are the same as for Bootcamp, with this one exception.

Bootcamp Rules

On our Spreadsheet of Fabulousness you will find the rules of Bootcamp - along with a whole load of other really important information. Have a good look around it, by clicking on the tabs at the bottom.

Sayra will be updating the spreadsheet this morning, so she will get all your names on it, and when she does, you can then enter your starting weight. As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all

MNHQ are - hopefully! - also setting up another Weight Tracker for us.

As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all there, in which case use the Weight Tracker, as that is private.

So this is the plan this time around:

Week 1 - Ubercamp (for those who are up for the extra challenge
Weeks 2-3 - Bootcamp
Weeks 4-5 - Bootcamp Light

I should warn you that I have taken my big stick out of the cupboard and I am ready and willing to use it ...

Morning, another scorching day in the north east! I'm a 1lb down already Grin
B- mashed eggs and mushrooms
L- tuna mayo lettuce wraps
D- leftover salmon and kale

BIWI · 22/07/2014 06:39

Marshy a banana?! That's the worst possible piece of fruit you could have eaten! And whilst you've done brilliantly to lose 7lbs in a week, if you keep eating bananas you will just sabotage all your efforts. You need to find more carb-friendly snacks!

dollywould it may not be from the ubercamp menus, but there's nothing wrong with chicken and mayo.

You don't have to follow the ubercamp meals on the spreadsheet, as long as you're eating low carb and no dairy.

Bugger, I though delouis mayo was on the ubercamp shopping list? To make coleslaw with?

CecyHall · 22/07/2014 06:51

Added my weight to spreadsheet, not sure I've ever admitted it 'out loud' to others before but I figure that you've only got to look at me to know the number is high so I might as well!

I'm at Chessington today though so things might not go well- will try my best bit the food is a bit crap. Ocado order all ready to be delivered tomorrow with all kinds of low carb yumminess.

Plonkysaurus · 22/07/2014 06:56

Readyfor good luck with your planning! If I can offer a word of advice - don't have a DIY wedding Wink it's so much bloody work.

Marshy great loss! It's really encouraging to step on the scales and realise how much has come off so fast. Keep at it!

KitchenFairy I want your allotment haul! That's like my perfect dinner. If I could eat only one meal for the rest of my life it would be roast chicken thighs and greens. In fact it's tonight's dinner, but sadly not homegrown. How do you find time to keep up with the allotment? I'd love a veg patch once we've got our own place.

I think the key to low carbing is planning. The toddler woke me up at 5.30 today and it's a busy day ahead. I've already had a bulletproof coffee and probably won't be peckish til 9.30 when I know I'll be driving. So I've made some Deviled eggs to take with me, and lunch is leftover bolognese from a couple of nights ago.

The eggs look fab, and a quick lick of the spoon tells me I'll love them. It's like spicy egg mayo on the run. Great shortcut.

Marshy · 22/07/2014 07:06

Morning all!

BIWI bananas are definitely off my menu plan from now on!

Thanks for the boiled egg idea questions. I'll give that a go.

I managed scrambled egg at 5.30am and feeling pleasantly full enough to have avoided all the pastries on offer at the train station just now.

See you all later

Hi can I ask.. I see peole here are talking tomoatoes . but are they a bit too carby for bootcamp? ( i only ask because when i did atkins they were a no . (and i have a greenhouse full of them)

3 small eggs abd butter this morning (am going no dairy) and I have made turkey and courgette/herb meatloaf (no onion) which i am planning to have for main meal (and freeze some for other days.) with more courgettes and would like a small tomato or two if its allowed .

Hope its ok me being on here as not 'official' .. I like LC but last time i did lc (atkins) i lost half a stone then no more even though i was strict for over a month also I had terrible constipation so going to combine LC with 5:2.. (is it ok me joining in with your discussion?)

Another morning, another uber day! I did well yesterday -

B omelette with mushroom
L tuno Mayo salad
D chicken thighs, chilli brocolli with shallots, spinach in garlic butter
W 3.5 litres of tap water, 2 espressos and 1 nettle tea

Today

B scrambled eggs, an espresso
L salmon, avacado and leafy salad
D same as yesterday as I need to use up the other chicken thighs

Feeling positive! Not as hard as first thought and I'm feeling absolutely fine except perhaps, the active and noisy stomach I've had since yesterday dinner time!

Pisseslikeahorse · 22/07/2014 08:35

Yama · 22/07/2014 09:30

Well, my meal out last night for dh's birthday wasn't too bad. Black pudding salad followed by steak and (extra) veggies.

Today I've had scrambled eggs with smoked sausage.

Can I ask a question about bulletproof coffee? Is it with salted or unsalted butter?

I'm guessing unsalted but wanted to check.

PoirotsMoustache · 22/07/2014 09:32

Oops, yes, I do know that Blush I think it's my inner control freak coming to the fore - I like to know exactly how it should be, so I can be sure I'm doing it all correctly!

StuntNun · 22/07/2014 09:37

It doesn't actually make that much difference Yama, so long as it's normal butter rather than actual salted butter that's extra salty.

re: the tomato question earlier on, does anyone know if this should be avoided in UBcamp and BC i hope not as i've been having them on my salads

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 22/07/2014 09:42

Checking in, still on the eggy thing, so yesterday was omelette and devilled eggs and some cheese (jumping on ubercamp on Weds), today I haven't managed anything yet but have bought a huge jar of picked eggs!

StuntNun · 22/07/2014 09:44

DoIneedhelp I think ubercamp is supposed to be 20g carbs per day so I wouldn't eat too many tomatoes on ubercamp but the odd one is probably okay.

doineedhelp · 22/07/2014 09:47

okay thanks for the advice stuntnun

Yama · 22/07/2014 09:48

Thanks StuntNun and Buffy. I'm going to try a bulletproof coffee tomorrow. Exciting.

PoirotsMoustache · 22/07/2014 09:49

Yesterday I had:

B. Scrambled eggs cooked with butter & pepper, and two rashers of bacon (checked the sugar content and there wasn't any)
L. Tuna with lemon juice & vinegar, salad (lettuce, cucumber, peppers, cherry toms & a spring onion) and a glob of full-fat Hellmans mayo
D. Chicken breast fried in butter with steakhouse pepper seasoning & mixed veg (I have since seen that carrots aren't allowed -oops).

I did snack a little, but on pork crackling and a babybel.
