5 Week Low Carb Bootcamp, with added Ubercamp

Morning all!

Just starting the day with a black coffee instead of my usual white one. Not quite sure if I like it or not ...

Anyway, welcome, everyone to this shorter-and-stricter-than-usual Bootcamp Grin

For those of you who are new to low carbing, I strongly suggest that you don't do Ubercamp. It's very strict and restrictive and will be a very, very hard introduction to low carbing. Far better that you get to grips with what it's all about before you also aim to cut out dairy.

For those of you that have low carbed before, you have the option this time around. You can either Bootcamp, which will last for three weeks this time, followed by two weeks of Bootcamp Light, or you can Ubercamp for the first week.

Ubercamp means no dairy (apart from butter). So the rules are the same as for Bootcamp, with this one exception.

Bootcamp Rules

On our Spreadsheet of Fabulousness you will find the rules of Bootcamp - along with a whole load of other really important information. Have a good look around it, by clicking on the tabs at the bottom.

Sayra will be updating the spreadsheet this morning, so she will get all your names on it, and when she does, you can then enter your starting weight. As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all

MNHQ are - hopefully! - also setting up another Weight Tracker for us.

As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all there, in which case use the Weight Tracker, as that is private.

So this is the plan this time around:

Week 1 - Ubercamp (for those who are up for the extra challenge
Weeks 2-3 - Bootcamp
Weeks 4-5 - Bootcamp Light

I should warn you that I have taken my big stick out of the cupboard and I am ready and willing to use it ...

ok, so some dairy allowed, but minimal, still no nuts, still no fruit at all and keep up the water. And of course no booze.

I lost 2 stone low carbing a year or so ago but put most of it back on despite vaguely continuing to low carb. This was however after going back to work in a very stressful job in the most aargh circumstances following maternity leave as the family breadwinner.

Also, I had difficulty getting enough water in and difficulty keeping the Bootcamp friendly treats out out. And I think that even a small amount of carbs was too much really. However I think I'd have a major major weight problem if I hadn't lost the weight in the first place and although I was comfort eating a bit, it was comfort eating with erm Bootcamp friendly stuff.

I have a real motive to keep with this as I am pre diabetic. I have another motive in the form of a big college reunion in 3 months time, which is sort of a silly reason but also psychologically quite motivating which is useful!!

BIWI · 27/07/2014 20:23

It's always good to have some kind of target to keep you focused!

oh i had very little to eat on Sat as had felt so ill, though I did have a coffee when I was out and it was very hot. In the absence of supper, I felt that this wasn't too bad= I just couldn't eat anything. Today I had some roast chicken, tomatoes and mushrooms at about 4, when my toddler woke me up and demanded breakfast, some buttered eggs mid morning, and some beef, leeks, asparagus at 7.30. I have had some coffee with almond milk, which is vv low carb. And I am still not snacking between meals, just not hungry. I will need to go have a vat of water now though.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 27/07/2014 21:38

Ok. So I wallowed a bit yesterday. My lack of weightloss really hurt.

But. Today I upped the water. Massively.

I had a huge cheese-y omelette for breakfast. It kept me going through to 4pm, when I discovered my lovely chicken leg quarter portions had gone off. Hmm So I had sausage and mushroom scrambled eggs.

Perhaps a little over-eggy. Grin But as DP is tucking into a pizza takeaway, I think I've done well.

Hello everyone, I know you are all already a week in to your Bootcamp, would it be ok to join or is it too late? I am bridesmaid at a wedding in 6 weeks' time and the gorgeous (but size 18) Phase 8 dress I will be wearing is a little tight. Blush

Livelongandprosper · 27/07/2014 22:06

Hello, can I join as well? A week late but ready to go.

BIWI · 27/07/2014 22:17

You are all welcome!

You know the drill - sign up tomorrow when I post the week 2 thread.

You have escaped Ubercamp, so it will just be Bootcamp for the next 2 weeks.

Livelong 20 days till we go to the wedding. You may have an outfit, but I don't!

Great, thanks. Will be back in the morning after I have weighed myself and gnashed my teeth a bit...

StuntNun · 27/07/2014 23:51

AIBU to be quite looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in?

dollywould · 28/07/2014 00:07

Sorry not to have posted sooner. Just wanted to say I'm delighted that I've made it to the end of Ubercamp week.

Was very hungry for the last two days (had a little more smoked salmon and green salad but that was it) Turns out that was the first wave of the crimson tide. Normally I'd have thrown myself into chocolate mousse at this time of the month so I'm glad I've managed to keep strong.

I am now addicted to BPC. Thought it sounded really grim but tried it and it's my new favourite drink. Pity I can't drink it all day, really.

I am tiring of the egg-smoked-salmon-bacon-avocado roundabout for breakfast (That sounds v spoilt, doesn't it?) so breakfast suggestions are v welcome. Is yoghurt and flaxseed ok yet?

Hope everyone is doing really well and we're all proud of what we've managed this week. Here's to the next week!

StuntNun · 28/07/2014 06:28

Two and a half pounds down!

Cluckingmad · 28/07/2014 08:13

Hi can I join please, I have been lurking for the last week whilst doing bootcamp, jumped on scales thismorning and 4lbs off! I'm over the moon, I have over a stone to lose still maybe more but for the first time in ages I feel as though I can do this. Shall I add myself to the spreadsheet?

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 28/07/2014 08:43

So I ended the first week 1lb heavier than I started. Hmm

I will keep on keeping on. More water. More veg. Smile

PoirotsMoustache · 28/07/2014 08:57

Yay, 7lb down (still!). No change from Thursday last week, but I'm thrilled I've lost half a stone! I went slightly off track over the weekend, only slightly, and it's that time of the month, so I was expected to have gained to be honest. Thanks BIWI and everyone else for your support and encouragement. And well done for all the losses, and for sticking to it everyone!

I keep meaning to ask - why is potato on the 'allowed veg' list?

PoirotsMoustache · 28/07/2014 09:01

I was expecting, not expected!

Hattieboomboom · 28/07/2014 09:27

Morning all, I feel very lucky indeed to be 4lb down as I haven't stuck to the rules at all. My plan was to do uber camp but instead I'd say I was on bootcamp for three days (when I lost the 4lbs) then light since then (weight has stated the same). I don't want to just sit at this weight though, so I'm attempting uber for today and tomorrow then normal bootcamp (but likely to be my light version with a few berries & nuts and slightly too much veg) for the remainder of the week. Whatever happens I'm a convert to the low carb way. Well done everyone.
