5 Week Low Carb Bootcamp, with added Ubercamp

BIWI · 21/07/2014 07:35

Morning all!

Just starting the day with a black coffee instead of my usual white one. Not quite sure if I like it or not ...

Anyway, welcome, everyone to this shorter-and-stricter-than-usual Bootcamp Grin

For those of you who are new to low carbing, I strongly suggest that you don't do Ubercamp. It's very strict and restrictive and will be a very, very hard introduction to low carbing. Far better that you get to grips with what it's all about before you also aim to cut out dairy.

For those of you that have low carbed before, you have the option this time around. You can either Bootcamp, which will last for three weeks this time, followed by two weeks of Bootcamp Light, or you can Ubercamp for the first week.

Ubercamp means no dairy (apart from butter). So the rules are the same as for Bootcamp, with this one exception.

Bootcamp Rules

On our Spreadsheet of Fabulousness you will find the rules of Bootcamp - along with a whole load of other really important information. Have a good look around it, by clicking on the tabs at the bottom.

Sayra will be updating the spreadsheet this morning, so she will get all your names on it, and when she does, you can then enter your starting weight. As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all

MNHQ are - hopefully! - also setting up another Weight Tracker for us.

As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all there, in which case use the Weight Tracker, as that is private.

So this is the plan this time around:

Week 1 - Ubercamp (for those who are up for the extra challenge
Weeks 2-3 - Bootcamp
Weeks 4-5 - Bootcamp Light

I should warn you that I have taken my big stick out of the cupboard and I am ready and willing to use it ...

I'm here..
Had a pint of water earlier and a green tea. Just about to have a mushroom omelette cooked in butter.

Was really bad last week, and last night Blush feel really bloated today.

trashcanjunkie · 21/07/2014 10:21

Morning all! Delighted to have this bc as support... due to recently developed dairy intoleranceI'm ubercamping by force. Really pleased to have company. Thanks BIWI. My internet is faulty so can't add weight to spreadsheet yet but if anyone can be arsed I'm currently 229lbs. I'm aiming to list my foods and drinks and amounts of things to keep a firm eye on the variables in this five week jaunt. Today I've had asalty caramel flavoured green tea. I'm assured there are zero carbs in it despite the name..... cupboards are pretty bare so am going to eat chicken mayo for breakfast. Might stick in a piece or two of roast broccoli and aubergine from last nights tea. Not going to properly shop til weds as we're off to housesit then for a week and it's pointless. Best of luck everybody Grin

Firsttimer7259 · 21/07/2014 10:47

Blooming eck Im actually doing this, weight is in spreadsheet and everything. Off to drink some water to calm down!

Plonkysaurus · 21/07/2014 11:17

Right, I'm doing this, I'm on. I've been eating Bootcamp Light for a month now barring the ice cream I ate this weekend and have lost 8lbs. My hen do took place a week into this WOE and I seemed to have a small gain as a result, but it all came off again. I think the total weight loss for last month was about 10lbs!

So I'm expecting this month to be a little slower but great to have some support. I'm a sucker for strawberries in the summer but I'm going to try really hard to cut them out for a short while. It's my wedding this weekend so I know I'm going to have some booze but my wedding meal is BC approved! (Except the lovely cakes of course).

But the remaining four weeks of Bootcamp will be strict. I want to lose 10 lbs, and I love how effortless this WOE has become. I don't care if I never eat pasta or bread again, I feel so energised and mentally clear.

Shopping for the next few days has just been done, so it's all chicken thighs with skin on, courgette noodles and bullet proof coffees from here on in!

Pisseslikeahorse · 21/07/2014 11:22

well this is going to be interesting, started counting my carbs and looks like I'm going to be in mushroom heaven for a while Smile

today will be
b. 2eggs 80g mushrooms (0.32g carb)
L. curried mince 200g cauliflower (3.8g carb)
D. Avocado chilli Tuna in iceberg shells (up to 5g carb)
4ltr water

Pisseslikeahorse · 21/07/2014 11:28

Trashy - weights entered. Are we still using the 'chunder' method or have you finally lost the ability? Grin

Also forgot to say ... HELLO EVERYONE

Hello Buffy,

Sorry, it is me that does the spreadheet. I just copied and pasted the last list on the sign up sheet so don't know where you went if you were on there.

As I said if you are not on the list there is space at the bottom for you to add your own name and I will re-alphabetise it later.

SayraT · 21/07/2014 11:47

If you signed up as "buffy" then you are on the spreadsheet Confused

SPREADHEET HERE

There is a new sheet for this BC, the one in the OP is the previous one because I had no internet and had to do a new sheet this morning at work.

Lulabellarama · 21/07/2014 11:50

Morning all. I've added my weight to the spreadsheet.
Breakfast was two scrambled eggs with butter and marmite
L: chicken, avocado an tomato salad with lots of mayo
D: gammon steaks, buttery chard and roasted Brussel sprouts

I also restarted Ripped in 30 this morning which felt good. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone just starting lc but I am fully keto adapted now so finding I've got plenty of energy Grin

Lulabellarama · 21/07/2014 11:52

Oh yes, forgot to mention my 11am snack of pork scratchings - possibly the best bit of low carbing.

questions2008 · 21/07/2014 11:53

Hello all! I'm childishly excited...!

Haven't got my weight yet as haven't got scales at home (use my mum's and can't get out for another couple of hours).

I've been doing LC for a couple of weeks now, so going to start this week off with the egg fast, then move onto uber camp. Well that's the plan anyway!! Grin

B= Fried eggs & black coffee
L= Scrambled eggs
D= Mashed eggs with mayo

I'm pretty good with water, have been doing 4-5 litres a day, so aiming for that today - i find the 1.5 ltr bottles a good size to carry around, i aim to have finished the first one by noon, a second in the afternoon and a third for the evening.

I think the best thing over the last 2 weeks is the revelation that I CAN just bin DS's leftovers and not hoover them up myself!

Good luck everyone!

TolchockLovelyInTheLitso · 21/07/2014 12:09

Morning lovelies! Hope you're all well.

Sorry for absence. At the end of the last Bootcamp I weighed exactly the same as when I started it despite following the rules religiously. 4 full months of stalling, so I went off in a strop and have been a carby twat last week meaning I've put on 2lb FFS. Why does my metabolism have to be the deranged awkward sod that defies science? S'NOT FAIR.

Some of you have previously suggested I pack in dairy so Ubercamp is a good option. Mark's Daily Apple suggests giving up all dairy for 30 days to test for intolerance. That's a loooong time to go without tea, coffee, butter, cheese! oh lovely cheese. Any tips for surviving?

If a month of Ubercamp doesn't generate some serious losses I'm just going to give up and embrace the sort of obesity that requires the roof winching off to be able to leave the house.

Sarya I've added my name to the bottom of the spreadsheet, hope that's OK and won't break anything.

Yama · 21/07/2014 12:12

Argh, I forgot to weigh myself this morning. Perhaps just as well as it's dh's birthday and we are going out for dinner with relatives tonight.

So far today I've had:

Scrambled eggs with butter and ham.
Three sausages for lunch.

I'll opt for a salad for dinner.

I have plenty of Aldi's own pepperami (msg free) if I get peckish.

I'll weigh myself in the morning. I'm guessing I'll be 10 stone 2.

MontserratCaballe · 21/07/2014 12:23

Holger, may I ask what a devilled egg is? I love devilled kidneys but am not sure how to translate that to eggs! Many thanks

Trash, I think I am going to have to give the salted caramel tea another go. I had a cup and found it a bit odd. I would recommend the Clipper Sleepy tea to anyone who wants a change from black tea. Despite the name it is not going to send you to sleep. It is very fruity and tastes as good as it smells (I often find herbal tea smells fab but tastes of very little. Not this one).

Plonky, how lovely to be getting married. Many congratulations. What is your dress like?

LUlu - the porkers are fab, aren't they? Hogbites (from Tesco) do a chilli one which is gorgeous. I am a crisp loon usually and they really do the trick.

Questions - one of the things which amazed me when I started LCing was the amount of leftovers that I had been eating. Cold fishfingers, pizza crusts, bits of leftover veg. No wonder I was in a mess. I am much better but still like a fishfinger. Will stay away from them.

Tolchock, I am sorry things haven't worked for you so far. Are you able to exercise? I know that it needs to be a diet thing rather than an exercise thing to lose weight but I always find I feel so much better if I walk, swim etc. Have you listed a day's food for BIWI to see if she can point out any tweaks which might help? Do you enjoy this WOE? I wasn't really on the last BC so did not hear your story then. Apologies if this is all stuff you have already covered.

Well, I have been swimming today and am about to go to an end of term picnic with my DD2's class. Cannot believe we are still at school. Roll on Wednesday.

Water, butter, water, butter.

HolgerDanske · 21/07/2014 12:38

Sure, although I'm not sure my version is authentic :-). I think the term just means spicy or curried doesn't it?

Anyway, I boil the eggs and let them cool. Then peel and cut in half and scoop out the yolks. Mash the yokes with mayonnaise and add curry powder and black pepper. When the yolks are lovely and smooth I divide the mix between the eggs, stuffing it back into the cavities left by the yolks.

Sprinkle with hot chilli powder and salt, and cut some chives over the top.

MontserratCaballe · 21/07/2014 12:41

Yum! That sounds fab. I will try tomorrow if I can get up early enough to do it before work. Thank you .

HolgerDanske · 21/07/2014 12:47

I actually often boil them in the evening to make the morning a bit more organised - my daughter loves them as well and it's such a convenient and easy breakfast meal when it's already done. I prepare them the night before and just take them out of the fridge when I get up to give them time to come to room temp.

HolgerDanske · 21/07/2014 12:48

I often eat them with some sliced tomato or cucumber. They're also nice with celery sticks.

trinitybleu · 21/07/2014 12:49

hmmm ... just tried to make mayo and it's vile - tastes of olive oil. Any tips?

HolgerDanske · 21/07/2014 12:50

Don't use olive oil :-)

trinitybleu · 21/07/2014 12:53

Holger thanks chuck! Grin what is best to use?

am really disappointed as it was a stick blender method and literally took 30 secs to do ....

miffy49 · 21/07/2014 12:53

Done it now! I'm in cos I just added mine. Actually I've been doing Harcombe Ph 1 since Wednesday when the rise in weight and BG scared me stupid and this morning I nearly fell off the scales with a loss of 2.4lbs! I haven't seen a drop like that since I started LC about 3yrs ago! Shock

As its near enough Uber (I don't eat anywhere near the amount of NLY that she recommends) I will carry on. I'm missing cheese and cream but if the weight goes faster I will be able to add them back (in moderation Blush) a lot sooner. Smile

Good luck gang!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 21/07/2014 12:54

Hello! Can't see the weight thing on my phone, haven't eaten yet due to crazy gum pain (possibly a wisdom tooth with no where to come through) but am making devilled eggs at the moment and will try and eat some of them. :)
