5 Week Low Carb Bootcamp, with added Ubercamp

Morning all!

Just starting the day with a black coffee instead of my usual white one. Not quite sure if I like it or not ...

Anyway, welcome, everyone to this shorter-and-stricter-than-usual Bootcamp Grin

For those of you who are new to low carbing, I strongly suggest that you don't do Ubercamp. It's very strict and restrictive and will be a very, very hard introduction to low carbing. Far better that you get to grips with what it's all about before you also aim to cut out dairy.

For those of you that have low carbed before, you have the option this time around. You can either Bootcamp, which will last for three weeks this time, followed by two weeks of Bootcamp Light, or you can Ubercamp for the first week.

Ubercamp means no dairy (apart from butter). So the rules are the same as for Bootcamp, with this one exception.

Bootcamp Rules

On our Spreadsheet of Fabulousness you will find the rules of Bootcamp - along with a whole load of other really important information. Have a good look around it, by clicking on the tabs at the bottom.

Sayra will be updating the spreadsheet this morning, so she will get all your names on it, and when she does, you can then enter your starting weight. As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all

MNHQ are - hopefully! - also setting up another Weight Tracker for us.

So this is the plan this time around:

Week 1 - Ubercamp (for those who are up for the extra challenge
Weeks 2-3 - Bootcamp
Weeks 4-5 - Bootcamp Light

I should warn you that I have taken my big stick out of the cupboard and I am ready and willing to use it ...

Morning everyone, ubercamp is not too bad so far although I'm not a big fan of black coffee but it's drinkable so I can manage for a week. I was really not that hungry yesterday which was good as I was worried the lack of dairy would make me more hungry than usual but so far it hasn't.

I put normal salted butter in my bpc, no one here can stand unsalted so we never have any in and the normal butter tastes fine to me Smile.

Re tomatoes, the tesco and asda own brand value tinned tomatoes are only 3g per 100g and I stick to cherry tomatoes now as they are 3.1g per 100g and only have 2 or 3 when I do so it really isn't many carbs. There is no way that I could give up dairy AND tomatoes at the same time.

I'm not following the ubercamp menu as I have a super fussy dp so have to tailor my meals to things he will eat (he has carbs with his too) but I am doing ubercamp meals for myself.

Morning!
Started the day with a bacon, tomato and spring onion omelette. Delicious.
Lunch will be a ham, avocado and spinach salad
Dinner is smoked mackerel with broccoli covered in garlic butter and chilli,

I'm finding ubercamp easier than I feared, luckily.
Did day 2 of Ripped on 30, which was harder today but only because I ached so much from yesterday.

Good morning everyone, hope it's all going well.. I had to post as just discovered very low carb breakfast muffins IT'S A BLOODY REVELATION !! I started low carb bc a month ago but not strictly uber because was still having cream in my morning coffee and grated cheese on an omelette..so a month down the road am a bit sick of eggs/bacon for breakfast and decided to google for other ideas and came upon 'muffin in a minute' I know I am probably very late to the party with this but WOW !! actually tastes like muffin/rye bread and with butter really yummy.. made mine with ground flaxseed, half tsp baking powder, tsp cinnamon and large egg.. zapped in micro for minute and half, slice and butter..Is my new found happiness misplaced, have I counted right, does this recipe have any place on uber bc ? ready for bursting of bubbleHmm

Day 2 - feeling good this morning, took measurements and happy that this is the smallest Ive been since DD born. Im finally at a size at which I like how I look - soooo nice! Id like to be a bit smaller still but its wonderful to see myself and not think 'gosh Im a bit heavy'

Bootcamp has opened my eyes to the relative carbiness of different veggie - I hadnt realised this before. Ill continue to eat the carrots and tomatoes Ive got but then plan to buy lower carb veg. And will try to go easy on what I have and feed most of them to DH and DD.

Getting lots of inspiration from the meal plans, food options posted. Thank you everyone.

Today I have some v high meat content sausages to snack on (there is some wheat in all of them whcih is a pain as I think wheat is a problem for me). I also have high hopes on my home made mayo - making me feel smug just that I made it - planing to add spices, gherkins, lemon etc and use liberally with all kinds of meat.

Right back on it. My resolve slipped a few weeks ago, and I hate to say it boredom crept in. However, I haven't put the 14 pound I lost back on (spreadsheet never seemed to work for me) but hols in 4 weeks, no school parties to distract me, so hey ho! Bacon eggs and mushrooms in the sunshine with a pint of water. Hate black or bullet proof coffee and our shop doesn't sell the unsweetened almond milk, so green tea or water.

I did alright yesterday but I'm glad not to be at work today. Here is a list of the presents I was left yesterday.

A box of the poshest macaroons I have ever seen in my life, there was about sixty of them
A giant sized tin of shortbread
A huge box of dairy milk x 2
M and S Italian chocolates x3bags
2 giant bars of Fruit and Nut

This is an average day for us.

It's very difficult and people do mean well but I have no control Sad

Sassy - I just made that 'muffin in a minute' and loved it. I think it would perfect with a slice of cheese on top. However, I had a look at the carb content and apparently it has 11g of carbs. Mind you, the recipe has Stevia which I omitted.

I don't think that muffin in a minute woould be allowed on ubercamp or BC but would be on BCL but i'm willing to be told otherwise as it sounds divine

Just checking in from my study day where I was the strange woman in the corner picking the fillings out of the sandwiches. There was literally nothing else suitable to eat! Another lesson learned about planning.

Looking forward to some proper dinner later.

I'm really struggling with not snacking Sad

I'm not hungry, I don't need to eat between meals. It's habit and my brain telling me to top up, my stomach is completely full and satisfied. I think it's boredom too - I am very bored in my job, so got into grazing at my desk.

I'm drinking water instead, and have had two cups of tea (with less than 10mls milk), but I don't want to have more tea/milk than that, and the water isn't satisfying my brain & mouth 'craving'.

I am SO struggling to switch to fat burning. I think I've got to go pure no carbs, but - probably lack of willpower ? I can't do it. Self sabotage...I'm better on low carbs...what's my bloody problem ?SadAngryBlush

Lunch was roast beef with Mayo, two piccolo tomatoes and more water.
Dinner will be mackerel salad maybe with avocado (I'm not fussed)
Dies anyone else get heartburn from the loads of water? (Hope gaviscon is low carb)

Excellent BIWI, I managed to pick some up in sainsburys. I'm starting with my horrible day 2 'I'm going to kill someone' mood. Doesn't help that it's too hot to do anything, and I've got four children in the houseGrin

Yama I looked at the muffin recipe too and I was like you and did a double-take at the carbs but then saw that it list a separate net carb count of 2.3. I think its the old USA/UK confusion over fibre listing again.

Seen one that omits the cinnamon and sweetener and adds a pinch of salt and some grated cheese. Might try that after Uber week.

Oh, that's better Miffy. I have to say, when I am maintaining I do like Greek Yoghurt with milled flaxseed and sometimes desiccated coconut thrown in.
