5 Week Low Carb Bootcamp, with added Ubercamp

Morning all!

Just starting the day with a black coffee instead of my usual white one. Not quite sure if I like it or not ...

Anyway, welcome, everyone to this shorter-and-stricter-than-usual Bootcamp Grin

For those of you who are new to low carbing, I strongly suggest that you don't do Ubercamp. It's very strict and restrictive and will be a very, very hard introduction to low carbing. Far better that you get to grips with what it's all about before you also aim to cut out dairy.

For those of you that have low carbed before, you have the option this time around. You can either Bootcamp, which will last for three weeks this time, followed by two weeks of Bootcamp Light, or you can Ubercamp for the first week.

Ubercamp means no dairy (apart from butter). So the rules are the same as for Bootcamp, with this one exception.

Bootcamp Rules

On our Spreadsheet of Fabulousness you will find the rules of Bootcamp - along with a whole load of other really important information. Have a good look around it, by clicking on the tabs at the bottom.

Sayra will be updating the spreadsheet this morning, so she will get all your names on it, and when she does, you can then enter your starting weight. As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all

MNHQ are - hopefully! - also setting up another Weight Tracker for us.

As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all there, in which case use the Weight Tracker, as that is private.

So this is the plan this time around:

Week 1 - Ubercamp (for those who are up for the extra challenge
Weeks 2-3 - Bootcamp
Weeks 4-5 - Bootcamp Light

I should warn you that I have taken my big stick out of the cupboard and I am ready and willing to use it ...

They aren't! Once we get into Bootcamp Light you can introduce them.

Stunt nun, I have also been tempted by berries to the tune of 5 raspberries on Tues(before a very stressful meeting) and 2 blackberries on Thurs. Again, I'm very aware that my boundaries as regards illicit treats have shifted a lot!

I have had a couple of days of feeling poorly, a combination of having a toddler waking me up at 4 or 5 am and the heat.

I had some right sided abdomen pain too and am wondering about seeing the GP ? gall bladder disease. That would be a pain from the point of view of eating a diet lower in carbs and higher in fat.

Firsttimer7259 · 27/07/2014 10:03

Thanks these sound like good ideas esp olives. I am trying for 3 meals but some evenings I can't manage without munching.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 27/07/2014 10:05

Buffy It's just 85% choc melted and laid in a cupcake case, set in fridge, natural pb on top, then more melted choc and set. It's my go to if I get really sweet cravings that don't shift, normally by the time I have made them, I've lost interest. :)

miffy49 · 27/07/2014 12:24

I make emergency fat bombs for those occasions and keep them in a jar in the fridge. Its a recipe off the BC Recipe thread with butter, coconut oil and v/dark choc but I add in a spoonful of almond butter. I put it into ice cube trays. It tastes very similar to PNB cups. I would say its nice enough to help a mad craving but not so yummy that I would happily wolf the lot! They work out about 1 carb each in my trays. Because of the fat I've never fancied more that 2 at a sitting.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 27/07/2014 12:28

I usually do the coconut fat bombs the same way, dark choc, coconut oil, spoon of cream, dessicated coconut. Lovely and can't wait to be able to have the occasional one.

Became a bit addicted to sugar free haribo and sf werthers for a while there though.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 27/07/2014 12:36

Okay, still haven't as there is no food for me to eat atm, so finished off my evil Atkins shake with cream added to bump the fat up. DP is away to buy me bacon and bratwurst and I will be having 2 6oz proper beef burgers for dinner.

StuntNun · 27/07/2014 14:56

I had socially obligated carbs today with a trip to KFC but was quite pleased to find out a piece of their 'original' chicken is 7g carbs. Not ideal but it isn't a disaster either. The only problem is that I was planning roast chicken for dinner and I had boiled eggs for breakfast so I'm all about the hens today!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 27/07/2014 15:20

7g is pretty good tbh!

so is peanut butter allowed in BC then? if so, which brands are best?

BestIsWest · 27/07/2014 15:56

I'd like to know about the peanut butter too. I can't find one under 16 g and that is no added sugar.

I wont post my triggering lapse yesterday then .. but today am right back on the waggon..

Breakfast 3 small eggs and 2 eggwhites (as i had those left over from caesar dressing i made ) slice of ham and 3 cherry tomatoes

Lunch 2 pork loin steaks (though i ate the fat too) fried in olive oil and a sprinkle of lemon juice

Dinner will be courgettes and padron peppers fried in butter..

I was 3lbs down this morning .. despite yesterday

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 27/07/2014 16:53

No it's not allowed and sorry for talking about it.

I feel really ill and am strugglig to stay awake.

Laska42 · 27/07/2014 17:07

When its allowed i definately recommend this caesar salad dressing.. (in the Guardian this week, though the recipe uses more vinegar.. it was too much ) Obviously dont have the croutons on your caesar) I had mine on aload of lettuce and cuecumber along with with chicken and fresh thyme wrapped in parma ham fried in butter .. The recipe it makes loads more than you need and you may want to thin it out a bit with some watre as I did

1½ garlic cloves, grated
5 fillets brown anchovies mashed
2 egg yolks
30ml red wine vinegar (i actually used white wine vinegar)
1 tsp dijon mustard (can we have mustard? cant see it onthe spread sheet)
500ml grape seed oil (i used olive and sunflower mixed )
150g parmesan, shaved
Juice of ½ lemon
Salt and black pepper
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1 dash tabasco sauce

BIWI · 27/07/2014 18:15

Mustard is fine!

Almonds are fairly low carb though, so would almond butter be allowed on bootcamp? I am thinking it might be a good substitute for those who like peanut butter - I bought it myself because I like almonds, but hadn't got round to starting it before Ubercamp!

StuntNun · 27/07/2014 19:32

I like almond butter; it tastes similar to peanut butter and is lower carb.

B: boiled egg (I did have two but DS2 wanted one)
L: two chicken pieces at KFB
D: roast chicken thigh and courgettes fried in butter

If I get hungry later I'll have some salad as I'm short on veg today.

The chicken bones are in the slow cooker to make broth. I may use it to make chicken and courgette soup tomorrow.

herecomesthsun · 27/07/2014 19:42

I need reminding of the rules for bootcamp though...

BIWI · 27/07/2014 20:02

Rules are on the spreadsheet, which is linked in the OP.

Welcome back, herecomesthsun!

Peanut butter/cashew butter/almond butter not allowed until Bootcamp Light, by the way ...

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 27/07/2014 20:09

Had:

B- A small drink of one of those shakes, it was awful so I didn't drink even most of it

L - A bratwurst, 3 slices of bacon, yolk from a poached egg and mushrooms.

Had a couple of sf sweets to see if the sucking would stop me feeling so sick, doubt I will be eating anything else today.

readyforno2 · 27/07/2014 20:18

Been off the radar for a couple of days.. Dp just home from work.
Been good though. Apart from a few drinks on Friday night.
BBQ last night which was much easier than I was expecting.

Today
B - egg in a cup
L - went to a world buffet thing so stuck to salad, brocoli and cauliflower, roast meat and had a little cheese.
D - nothing yet, not hungry as was a late lunch

I figured that might have been the case re the peanut butter. Can't wait till bc light
