Has anyone ever cancelled child maintenance or doesn't claim it? The payments are ridiculously low so it's not even worth me claiming I am tempted to cancel, has anyone done the same?

Course the £28 I get doesn’t help at all and yes ex should pay more and would if he got a job

but he doesn’t

but I will take the £28 as means it’s £28 less for him

Go ahead and cancel the £7 that you have already said you don’t need and that you could have at least invested for your kids so when they got to 18 they’d have a few thousand.

£7 every few months (op said she doesn’t always get it) invested until they are adults and split between four children isn’t going to be a few thousand though?

Feel free to look into how much £7 per week over 18 years invested in a children’s stocks and shares ISA amounts to (and it’s only just today yhd poster had changed her claim if £7/week to it being intermittent)

I’m with you op. It’s an insult. Xh used to have to pay £10 for three so £7 for 4 especially now when everything is so expensive is ridiculous. Would that even buy a chocolate bar each?

He’s not seeing them, he’s not paying for them, he’s not a father.

Shame that the button to cancel doesn’t send a fuck you his way.
Although it would be good to see the confusion when he realises that he no longer has that control to make you angry.

Thank you exactly how I feel

No he finds it funny sadly.

Imagine how funny he’d find it if you cancelled it and he had to pay £0

HoneyBlossoms · 02/09/2025 21:31

He basically IS paying nothing

Thank you! I've honestly been shocked by these comments making out like it actually helps in any way, finally people with some sense have arrived!

Absolutely nobody said that. You’ve been rude
and obtuse. The suggestions of investing that tiny amount for the benefit of your children have been ignored and dismissed. Nobody said it helps. Everybody agreed it was an insult. A couple of posters said that in poverty, it would have helped them and poverty is something you clearly haven’t got a clue about because you were extremely rude and wilfully ignoring what they said. Just cancel the fucking thing and be done with it. You are beyond help.

HoneyBlossoms · 02/09/2025 21:48

Well thankfully some people with common sense have come along and agreed with me.

Are you on glue?

🙄 any woman that thinks a man is upset or angry he has to pay £7 a week is deluded, they would find that hysterical and laugh that they get away with so little (probably more than nothing as they'd worry about it catching up with them) but imagine being told you only had to pay £7 proof men find this funny! No one is upset paying £7 out of their benefits and it doesn't bother anyone. Not my post but found on another group
