Has anyone ever cancelled child maintenance or doesn't claim it? The payments are ridiculously low so it's not even worth me claiming I am tempted to cancel, has anyone done the same?

I'm on another group and someone is moaning they only get £400 a month for their kids and their ex won't pay any extras and how unfair it is yet on here you get told you should be grateful for £7.

Nope.

No one has said that.

SomeOfTheTrouble · 02/09/2025 15:58

HoneyBlossoms · 02/09/2025 15:57

Poster has literally told me she would have loved to received that!

She would have loved to have received that, in her circumstances. She didn’t tell you that you should love to receive that, in yours.
Other people are allowed to have their own experiences.

Typicalwave · 02/09/2025 16:00

HoneyBlossoms · 02/09/2025 15:50

You would have loved £7 a week for your children from their father? 😂 now I know you are lying

I would have loved to be able to afford to put £7/week away for them for 18 years. I couldn’t even afford to do that.

Im sorry OP but either you have a reading comprehension problem or you are wilfully misreading because you’re not getting the responses you want.

Go ahead and cancel the £7 that you have already said you don’t need and that you could have at least invested for your kids so when they got to 18 they’d have a few thousand.

Better still - stop allowing your kids to fritter away money on Robux and invest that seeing as you want to take money from your own children to try to prove some ridiculous point

HoneyBlossoms · 02/09/2025 16:01

Also for those that struggle to read he has barely paid it! So carry on saying how jealous you are that I get £7 a week, his arrears are almost £900 where he hasn't paid it in years due to priority debts, so this isn't a consistent £7 and I've only received £145 since January which works out closer to £4 a week but let me guess you wish you had got that 🙄

Actually I think it’s pretty fucking rude of you to invalidate someone else’s experiences just because they’re not the same as yours. That poster said she was really struggling for money and had nothing left to give. In mounting debt, and no money at all for treats. In those circumstances yes, I can see why £7 a week would be helpful to her. Can’t you? That’s obviously not the situation you’re in, but that doesn’t mean she can’t have an opinion based on her circumstances.

Typicalwave · 02/09/2025 16:02

My child got ZERO. Zilch. Zip. Nadda.

And YIU are wilfully misrepresenting what I said (of you have the reading age of a child)

SomeOfTheTrouble · 02/09/2025 16:02

I give up. You are a very unpleasant human being.

SomeOfTheTrouble · 02/09/2025 16:05

I don’t think you’ve got any intention of cancelling, or you’d have done it by now. As you said yourself, it’s really easy to do, just a click. So why haven’t you done it?

What the fuck? Are you stupid? Nobody but nobody has said they’d love it. One person said there were times when an extra £7 a week would have made a difference to her. NOT THAT IT WAS OK. You are so rigid you cannot see beyond your own experiences or that other people might be in poverty. Just cancel it, job done.

Incredibly. For all of yhd above.

And literally wants to deprive her own children. Even if it is a shitty few quid a week.

HoneyBlossoms · 02/09/2025 18:49

So because your child got nothing I should be grateful for £7 that I barely receive 👏

So be grateful because someone else got nothing "it's not a race to the bottom" 🙄👏

My child got ZERO. Zilch. Zip. Nadda

It's literally right there, my child got nothing so £1.75 a week per child I should be grateful, that is nothing! (He is in almost £1000 worth of arrears so my children HAVE got nothing for years)

No one has said you should be grateful. That poster didn’t say you should be grateful. She was talking about her circumstances, and why she would have been grateful. You’re not the main character in everything.
Anyway, it’s like talking to a brick wall so I’m out. Hope you’ve cancelled that claim!

Again, reading ability of a child.

Littlemrsconfetti · 02/09/2025 19:02

Just leave the claim open. You will have an annual review each year. You can also have this investigated if he's been paying £7 for years OP. Put it in a separate account. You will have a record for your DC too!

SummerFrog25 · 02/09/2025 19:04

HoneyBlossoms · 29/08/2025 20:48

You can cancel online so it's just a click, just wondering if anyone has actually done this.

It's utterly pathetic - £7🙄🙄🙄

But why would you cancel it? What's the benefit to you of cancelling it?

HoneyBlossoms · 02/09/2025 19:35

And this thread isn't about that poster so no need to make it about her. If I came into a thread about someone receiving £500 a month and said I wish I got that amount I'd be told it's not about me and it's not a race to the bottom so works both ways.

Totally get were you are coming ffom @HoneyBlossoms. I never got a shilling from my ex, girls now have their own families and know, they have nothing to do with him.
I would stop it, £7 ffs on what planet is that of any use to anyone let alone 4 children!
Only hassle for you from the letters you’re getting saying it will/will not be paid, its just twisting the knife.

Imagineallthepuppies · 02/09/2025 20:35

I’m with you op. It’s an insult. Xh used to have to pay £10 for three so £7 for 4 especially now when everything is so expensive is ridiculous. Would that even buy a chocolate bar each?

He’s not seeing them, he’s not paying for them, he’s not a father.

Shame that the button to cancel doesn’t send a fuck you his way.
Although it would be good to see the confusion when he realises that he no longer has that control to make you angry.

£7 every few months (op said she doesn’t always get it) invested until they are adults and split between four children isn’t going to be a few thousand though?

Thank you! I've honestly been shocked by these comments making out like it actually helps in any way, finally people with some sense have arrived!
