Hello!

Very nice day for DS2's very small birthday party. A good time was had by all, I think.

Hope everyone is well.

sfxmum · 18/04/2010 16:57

hello all

hope everyone is well

blissful quiet days here without the planes I know it is inconvenient for some but oh so wonderful to be resting in the sun at Kew and no planes going overhead

pcW how is ds getting on? hope he is better

dd not having a birthday party this year outside the family cake celebration, it is expensive enough to go away at half term
lesson in economics for her

pcworld · 18/04/2010 19:59

SFX, I agree, the plane-free sky is just wonderful and has even made me question our move! But we are doing the right thing - the planes drive me bonkers.

Like the lesson in economics, I think it is a fair do really and a trip to Paris would be the winner for me every time!

Copper - glad you had a good b-day celebration - I am a fan of small parties.

Mellow - hope your dd had a great time?!

And sadly, I have to report that ds is still not well at all - I fear an ear infection on the back of all this. We are back to the docs tomorrow for a further check-up. He is just miserable, poor little guy.

Off to watch an episode of The West Wing with dh - we need some distraction and are rapidly getting addicted ...

tillyfernackerpants · 18/04/2010 20:08

pc, poor ds, I really hope he's ok. I'm so at you watching West Wing. I started to watch it & got hooked, then managed to miss a few episodes & I lost the plot. I wish E4 would shoulw it again!

Sfx, good plan re birthday, I'm also a fan of small parties.

Ds1 has said he wants a bowling party for his next birthday! Don't know where that's come from!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 18/04/2010 20:22

oh no pcW poor boy and poor you nasty nasty bugs

tilly bowling party I have been to one in Kingston very noisy they hold a few and distribute lanes per party

think dd will be ok might invite a couple of friends who may be around toward the end of half term and have a birthday tea or something, she seems more agreeable to the idea now
lately the trend has been all class parties

off to catch up with doctor Who I quite like the new Doctor

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/04/2010 21:18

Hello!

PC - poor DS. Hope he gets better soon.

We only invite kids not from school for our birthday parties. So far. Will stick to the policy for as long as we can.

Watching Foyle's War.

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/04/2010 15:32

Hello!

Not back to school till tomorrow. We've been to the National Portrait Gallery (to prove DS1 wrong - he's got it into his head that "olden days" is in black-and-white and portraits are only for dead people ). Also had haircut, new library books, dim sum and new pair of jeans.

Hope everyone is well. Not so sunny now but still warm. I like it.

sfxmum · 19/04/2010 15:56

hello

sounds like a good day copper, we went to the National Portrait Gallery a couple of years back and dd was convinced the portrait of Seamus Heaney was in fact her grandpa

now does anyone fancy coming out with me this Wednesday night? it is a gig in north London Idlewild, person coming with me can't make it

vbus · 19/04/2010 16:02

Hi

Copper - sounds like a productive day. Never been to that gallery, wouldl ike to go one day

PCW - that is really bad, ear infection as well hugs to you and your little boy

Sfx/Tilly - we won't be doing big parties for the DC every yr either. I want them to grow up knowing a birthday means a cake, pressies and lots of fun (but not parties every yr)

DS2 been grumpy and clingy since yesterday, think it's teething related and DS1 just been asleep on sofa for 1hr which he hardly ever does, hope he's not coming down anything Back to nursery tom for us too. Neither of them ate the cheese scones I made for lunch, I hope veg lasagne I'm cooking won't be rejected either!

vbus · 19/04/2010 16:04

Sfx - oooh I might be able to come now that DH can't go to Paris can you email me the details please and I'll check it out?

sfxmum · 19/04/2010 16:32

yeah vbus come on it is down and dirty at the Kentish forum will email

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/04/2010 17:11

OK - if I mash up leftover roast potatoes, chop up leftover veg and chicken, stir it all together with an egg and fry it up, would that be edible?

sfxmum · 19/04/2010 17:16

isn't that called bubble d squeak?

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/04/2010 17:18

I guess. But would it be nice?

I know. Sour cream with chilli powder for dips. That would make it nice.

sfxmum · 19/04/2010 17:39

probably

it is jacket potatoes for us today

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/04/2010 17:52

Kids had some of the leftover roast chicken. And jam tart, chocolate sticks and cake for pudding. Is that a bit much?

vbus · 19/04/2010 19:07

Copper - sounds good!
Mine did not eat lasagne, oh well more left for DH & I

Sfx - still not heard back from DH as he was in a meeting, so will text you later when he gets in if I can go

tillyfernackerpants · 19/04/2010 20:08

sfx, vbus beat me to it!!

Copper, sounds like a good day

vbus, agree re parties! Start as you mean to go on in my book

OP posts:
sfxmum · 19/04/2010 20:13

tilly - vbus has not confirmed yet so line up there is a ticket going free

pcworld · 19/04/2010 20:41

We had a really yummy chicken stew followed by shop bought cheesecake - kind of an emergency pudding, we don't normally bother. There. That's the most interesting thing that has happened all day. Off to bed now ahead of tomorrow morning's early start with crying toddler and Dick van Dyke trying to outdo each other at 5.30am

Am [envious] of a night out on Weds to see good band - SFX, are they playing in the Union Chapel? Love that place.

vbus · 19/04/2010 20:53

Tilly - you can have ticket, sniff sniff

PCW - hope tomorrow is better for you

sfxmum · 19/04/2010 20:56

Hi PcW you sound tired and fed up and no wonder, where does DVD come in?

it is the Forum and ticket still going as vbus can't make it
