Time for a new thread!!

Mellow, congratulations!

Dusty, ds2 would look so cool with a Beatles haircut

Pc, sorry you've all been ill, glad you're on the mend. Can't believe ds will be 2

Vbus, well done on getting dh into the spare room, dh refuses to move from our bed when he's ill!! Hope he's all better for your holiday, where are you going?

We're also ready for a holiday, am waiting for The Sun cheapie deals to start up again!

PC glad jabs went well

Sushi good luck with the schools

Sunny here - at last

have had terrible week at work

I think these emoticons look naked with no ears ...loved the ears

sfxmum · 10/04/2010 14:06

about Clegg I think she really dislike the other having witnessed PMQs

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/04/2010 14:40

Hello!

I'm back. NOthing to report. Usual sit around, eat chips, lounge at beach type holiday.

dustythedolphin · 10/04/2010 18:00

SFX new boss is a complete frigging control freak and is driving me bonkers!!!

Paris in May sounds fab

Copper hope you had a nice time

We went to explore an ancient monument (one of those stone burial moundy things up on a hill near here) today, climbed up hill to look at it but the ground was so boggy our feet got soaked

dustythedolphin · 10/04/2010 18:01

SFX meant to Paris, not !!!

tillyfernackerpants · 10/04/2010 21:09

dusty, sorry work isn't great, hope it improves

sfx, Paris sounds fab

Copper, sounds like a good holiday

We've been to Kew today, ds's loved the new playground, much improved on the old one. Though they don't seem to have the farm this Easter?!

pcworld · 12/04/2010 08:39

SFX - I love Paris Planning a trip there as soon as we feel brave enough with ds! Never been to Disneyland. Sorry we didn't see any of you last week - we did make it to Kew but slightly later due to swimming and so of course I had (a) parking issues and (b) the playpark was so overrun that it was dreadful! I actually managed to lose dd for 10 mins, felt like a lot longer. And so we dashed off for a nice walk instead before heading home fairly rapidly. Am supposed to be taking all 3 of us to the dentist this morning but ds appears to be extremely "out of sorts" so who knows how the day will pan out

vbus · 12/04/2010 09:26

Hello

Back from a wonderful holiday, only complaint was that it was too short! Feel like I've been away for a few weeks rather than a few days

Will catch up on your news later. Hope everyone well

PCW - hope dentist trip goes well and DS feel better

Sfx - you booked Disney land then?

Still meeting Weds those of you who can make it?

pcworld · 12/04/2010 13:13

vbus, glad you had a good hol Dentist was traumatic! dd had a hole in a tooth and had to have a filling! I have taken it really personally. She is only 5!! I feel that it must be my fault - although she hardly ever has sweets. As the dentist said, though, there is hidden sugar in so many things, these days. Anyway dd, to her absolute credit, sat there and had the filling with absolutely no fuss at all. I, however, have to have a tooth crowned! and so we are talking £££ here. Vbus, can I let you know about Weds later as I may be able to get part one of my 2 follow-up dental appts for Weds and as dh is off for some of this week, that would be useful.

ds is in a right old strop today, I wonder if he is sickening for something or merely tired. Sigh.

sfxmum · 12/04/2010 14:33

hello all

pcW that sounds really trying, dd certainly has far too many sweets but so far no cavities not sure how this works
my niece had one extracted when she was 3-4 it had gone black and she did not eat sweets

hope ds is going to be ok

vbus holiday sounds restful, we took the plunge and booked 3 nights in a Disney type hotel but out side the gates the plan is to spend one day in Paris and one day at Disneyland
have been looking at reviews of the hotel online and it ranges from 'fantastic' 'perfect' magic' to 'awful' 'don't go there' clean to filthy

amused at comments that 'the food is awful we
had to eat at MacDonald's, breakfast was bread cheeses cold meats cereal and pastries the English Breakfast was inedible'

sfxmum · 12/04/2010 14:35

not that I am advocating huge consumption of sweets

slow day for us I am tired and a little under the weather so have been catching up with laundry etc

must make plans for the rest of the week

also have someone coming over on Thursday to do a valuation(?) of the place

vbus · 12/04/2010 15:04

PCW - my friend is a dentist and says the worst thing for teeth is juice. DS1 only really has it at parties but he too eats lots of choc Poor you having all that dentistry too. No prob Re: weds, think we'll head to Kew anyway so would be great to see you, let's play it by ear.

Sfx - LOl at breakfast comments Paris will be lovely and I'm sure DD will love Disneyland

Dusty - hope work is better for you this week

On catch up today, laundry, unpacking etc the down side to holidays, boo hoo

dustythedolphin · 12/04/2010 15:48

Vbus glad you had a brill holiday

SFX are you selling [clueless emoticon]?

lol at hotel reviews - so contradictory!

PC hope things imrpove on the toothypeg front! Mine eat sweeets and will often "forget" to do their teeth (DH isn't as vigilent as me in double checking they've done them each morning), but none have cavities - I think there is a degree of luck involed. My sister ate sweets non stop right into adulthood and only ever had a couple of fillings

Went to an absolutely fabby concert last night but on the work front my boss is still haunting me even though she's on annual leave this week. She's left me a whole pile of crap work to do, thus ensuring she is controlling me even when she is out of the country

tillyfernackerpants · 12/04/2010 15:53

pcw, ds1 has had 2 fillings & dentist reckoned it was due to raisins & dried fruit as they tend to get stuck in the back teeth & are full of sugar. Poor you too. Hope ds is ok.

ds2 doesn't seem very well either, has a temp & is clinging onto me for dear life. I now need to figure out how ds1 & I can make a pirate sword with ds2 hanging off me

sfxmum · 12/04/2010 16:25

dusty hate bosses like that smacks of insecurity
and about moving, not sure yet just weighing options, if we can find a suitable place with garden nearby in our price range, but I would rather stay put for a few more years

vbus dd was sold that the hotel has castle in the title and she can have dinner with the Disney princesses

about dentist I think I need to get dd checked she has been grinding her teeth a lot during the night

UptoapointLordCopper · 12/04/2010 16:27

Hello!

Our dentist says you can eat as much sweets as you like together with main meal and it's the in-between snacks that's bad.... Sometimes it's just luck. Or the lack of it...

sfx - we planned to go to Paris but DS1 wasn't that well during the hols so we didn't ... But we'll definitely do a eurostar trip one of these days.

Dusty - sorry to hear about controlling boss.

We've been out all day and did all kinds of chores and are veging out on Bob the builder ATM. Can't do any meet-up this week as days are divided between playdates and work.

sfxmum · 12/04/2010 16:35

mummy can you make macaroni cheese for dinner please? and actually I think the school dinners one is better than yours it is cheesier

UptoapointLordCopper · 12/04/2010 16:37

DS1 tells me the nursery cook's jelly is much better than mine. Not surprised though. Mine is rubbish.

mellow2 · 12/04/2010 17:09

Dusty-My sympathies over your tyrannical boss

Vbus-Glad you had a lovely holiday.

Sfx-Hope valuation goes well.

PCWorld-Sorry to hear about £££ visit to dentist. Procrastinating over visit to dentist for same reason.

Took afternoon off and went to pools on the park with dh and dd. The newly refurbished pools are quite lovely.

Might make that a regular feature. . .

Does anyone know if you can get a pool-only membership? With our last gym membership, we only ever used the pool and paid an excessive amount for that.

sfxmum · 12/04/2010 17:16

mellow if you are talking pools in the park in Richmond no separate membership but children don't pay until they are 5.
even for me it is cheaper to buy the odd class if/when I only use the studio once a week on average

I think dentists give us a taste of what private medicine is like

mellow2 · 12/04/2010 17:19

Copper - I like the look of Ealing Dental Practice. Are you a patient there?

UptoapointLordCopper · 12/04/2010 17:53

Mellow - we are all here further up the Greenford Avenue. NHS dentist .

SushiMummy · 13/04/2010 07:53

pcw - much sympathies re cavities. My DS has had fillings recently and the dentist said it's pretty much down to genetics and some people are just prone to teeth decay than others (me included). Like your DD, my DS was a star at the dentist (in fact he fell asleep on the chair ).

tilly - how is DS2? Hope he feels better now.

vbus - glad you had a nice holiday.

dusty - how is life? Hope you are settling down OK.

copper - where did you find NHS dentist? There is none around here.

sfx - hope the valuation goes well.

mellow - how is the decoration going?

Have a nice day everyone!

mellow2 · 13/04/2010 08:38

Ok thanks copper

mellow2 · 13/04/2010 08:44

Sushi - decoration is progressing but slowly. We've just ordered curtains for our bedroom (we hav net curtains at the mo) after huge wrangling over cost with dh. Wanted to finish off traditional "look" hence ££ curtains. Thanks for asking.
