Time for a new thread!!

Mellow, congratulations!

Dusty, ds2 would look so cool with a Beatles haircut

Pc, sorry you've all been ill, glad you're on the mend. Can't believe ds will be 2

Vbus, well done on getting dh into the spare room, dh refuses to move from our bed when he's ill!! Hope he's all better for your holiday, where are you going?

We're also ready for a holiday, am waiting for The Sun cheapie deals to start up again!

OP posts:

Kew - Grin at hald share of caravan - I guess that could be a nice thing to inherit though, idepending on location Wink

:( he is still up his own bottom and didn't ask you about your life, particularly given your health and the fact that you have had to cope with more than a painful knee

Vbus will have a ganders at your FB pix

Copper we went to Science Museum before schools in the Uk broke up and it was a complete nightmare in the sense that there was just too many children (on school trips evidently) there. Good venue if only it wasn't so popular...

vbus · 18/08/2010 13:52

Hello all

Sfx - we may join you on fri at museum as Fri playdate now looking iffy. Tbh go ahead and make your plans, if we can join you it'll be a last minute text to say so, sorry to be vague. Sadly can't do any of the other dates you suggested but DS1 keep asking when are we going to BM to minisfx so we'll see...

Kew - must've been weird meeting up with your dad, are you glad you met up with him? (Aside from chance of inheriting caravan lol)

Tilly - DS1 scared of dino skeleton and said he doesn't want to go there!

Copper - do they really have a giant sequoia there, must be huge Hmm

Also, please help, do I get iron on labels or sew on???

vbus · 18/08/2010 13:53

shuold read
going to BM with minisfx

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/08/2010 14:10

vbus - not a whole tree, I don't think. A section, I think, memory from going with DH about 10 years ago!

label - we have sewn-on due to wanting to reuse for DS2.

vbus · 18/08/2010 14:36

Copper - I did wonder Grin

Good point about reusuing the clothes, I guess the iron ones might trash the garment if you have to peel off. Sad to be having to contemplate these things

DS1 watching Pinnochio performance this afternoon, dying to find out if he enjoyed it

sfxmum · 18/08/2010 15:22

vbus that is fine we are not sure yet if Friday or Monday
about labels quite a lot of clothes have a place for you to write the name but I opted for sew on plus a few stickers for shoes water bottles and so on

regarding sequoia it is in the main hall a cross section with dates up the stairs opposite Darwin

we went swimming and run a few errands but honestly possibly one of the most disastrous days from the word go, nothing major but I am as cranky as hell and dd keeps feeling it and pushing I really really hate losing my temperSad but hey h she said she liked the outing
I asked what about crying and losing temper?
well apart from that was really goodBlush

Kewcumber · 18/08/2010 19:02

"stickits" do labels that stick to the care label of clothes and can also be use on hard items like shoes and lunch boxes. They seem quite good but I haven't subjected them to washing yet.

Caravan (sorry "park home") is on an over 50's site so no good to me. Mind you another 5 years and my retirement plans are sorted...

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/08/2010 19:58

I don't sew labels if clothes come with space to write on. Writing does fade though so have to check. Mind you, sewn on labels also do fall off - probably because it's sewn on half-heartedly by me. Blush

I have sticky ones for shoes and book bag. Water bottle and lunch box get periodically written on with marker pens. Labels also fall off shoes. Book bag label probably will last longer than book bag ...

dustythedolphin · 18/08/2010 20:45

yes I am starting to look at retirement parcs too...

Used to buy lovely labels for first born, but now we are onto third child I resort to scribbling names on clothes labels and then just checking them every coupld of weeks and redoing them if neccessary like you Copper

Vbus/SFX loved the Transport Museum pics BTW! One of them reminded me of On the Buses

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/08/2010 20:49

Can I bring a friend on nightout? I promise no hairy truckers.

pcworld · 19/08/2010 07:22

Hello dear people! Sorry for not being around, just busy entertaining the troops Grin Sounds as though a lovely summer is being had by all. Transport Museum is fab, I haven't been for years, would love to go there soon - if I had known you were going, we would have joined you! The dcs are loving it here, we are having loads of beach action/adventure playgrounds/parks, it's a very outdoor life for them and as a result they are sleeping in every day which is heaven! I think the start of term will be a shock, and I will certainly miss having dd around. ds will go to a little nursery for a couple of mornings a week as he is ready to make some friends of his own and will miss his sister.

Dusty - how exciting re: your dream house! Hope it all works out, that would be great.

Am vaguely thinking about the school year ahead - my mission this year is to be organised re: holidays etc. For once Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/08/2010 07:48

Hello PC!

May go camping! ShockShock Advice on tent please!

SushiMummy · 19/08/2010 08:11

Morning all.

Hello PCW! How is rural life?

copper - sorry little experience with camping/tenting. sfx/KC should be able to answer your queries, I think...

We are thinking of spending the August bank holiday weekend in Brighton. Any recommendations on hotels/restaurants will be much appreciated. Unfortunately this is going to be our only summer holiday... Sad

dustythedolphin · 19/08/2010 09:24

PC glad you are enjoying your new life it sounds blissful - I bet the kids will love their new school. What's it like? Have you met many neighbours yet?

I think we all felt a bit lonely/insecure for about the first 3/4 months, but I realised the other day that we have a good smattering of good friends here now, and lots of other people who we say "Hi" to and chat when we see them in the streets/shops, which is nice.

Dream house..well i am already starting to get stressed about it - whether we will sell ours in time, blah

sfxmum · 19/08/2010 10:53

hello all

pcW nice to see you around, good to hear you are all enjoying the new life.
being organised is one of my goals for the coming months I want to have half terms sorted in advance as well as housekeeping study and exercise, checkout I might become a real woman/wife after allGrin

lordcopper Outwell kick ass, have browse they are durable, reliable and sensibly put together and generally easy to assemble

dusty I do hope you find a great place and things go well, so exciting and all under a year of moving there, hope work ok too

went running this morning feel almost normal now

Kewcumber · 19/08/2010 11:07

Cooper - you can borrow my trailer tent if you have a tow bar or at a push you can get 4 in my four man tent if you want to trial a weekend before spending money. Starting to get a bit nippy in the evenings camping now - are you thinking this year?

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/08/2010 11:51

Kew - early september. What's a trailer tent?

Kewcumber · 19/08/2010 13:20

Its a trailer which folds out into a tent off the ground (so warmer beds if you camping out of the height of summer).

Like this cgi.ebay.co.uk/dandy-trailer-tent-/320576418444?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_HikingCamping_Tents_JN

vbus · 19/08/2010 13:40

Copper - I have completely forgotten the make of our tent Blush, when I remember I'll tell you as it's brilliant, easy to put and watertight and therefore quite warm on a cold night (we survived camping next to glaciers in this thing!) Where are you going to camp?

PCW - nice to hear from you Smile Lifestyle sounds great and I bet you feel a million times better for all the extra zzz's

Dustly - fingers crossed you have some luck with your house sale

Sfx - playdate now shifted from am to pm on Fri which means sadly we won't be able to join you on museum trip. Glad that you're feeling better

Sushi - sorry I don't know Brighton that well but hope you have lovely trip

Just back a from bizarre playdate whereby all 4 kids didn't really play together (we might as well have turned up when they were out Blush). For the little time they were together it ended in tears, oh dear.

Must try and do some more unpacking this afternoon (keep putting off those last few boxes!)

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/08/2010 13:51

So OK to bring friend to nightout? Please? Smile She's really nice.

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/08/2010 13:54

sfx - like this? Do you have to buy pegs etc too? Really don't know anything ...

sfxmum · 19/08/2010 14:09

looks gorgeous Lordcopper similar to mine but improved with protection from rain when opening (mine needs an added awning in front

  • happy to lend our too, pegs included they are fairly generous with them

vbus decided on going next Monday instead
we are having a home day as I try to sort out some laundry and keep an eye on the renovations going on upstairs, at least they are friendly as they have had a few disasters which affect us, namely water in our bathroom ceiling

sfxmum · 19/08/2010 14:12

also lorcopper have a look at the videos on the home site, it shows each tent being put up and shows the packs

sfxmum · 19/08/2010 14:34

I think I will book a half term break to Edinburgh by train, so is it best the Autumn one or in the new year?
probably should ask MIL but I am sure she would say any time is a good time to visit Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/08/2010 20:56

Kew - Shock at trailer tent. There is a lot I don't know. Grin

sfx- may take you up on offer. Still contemplating ... Was very intrigued by the Quechua tents. Watched youtube. Hilarious.

vbus - we've certainly had playdates where there were more squabbling than playing.... Then you wish they'd just play separately!
