Time for a new thread!!

Mellow, congratulations!

Dusty, ds2 would look so cool with a Beatles haircut

Pc, sorry you've all been ill, glad you're on the mend. Can't believe ds will be 2

Vbus, well done on getting dh into the spare room, dh refuses to move from our bed when he's ill!! Hope he's all better for your holiday, where are you going?

We're also ready for a holiday, am waiting for The Sun cheapie deals to start up again!

Sushi at your DS snoozing in the dentists chair - how relaxed he must have been!

There is a good NHS dentist in Barnes called Castlenau Dentist - do private and NHS and NHS for kids of course

SFX my teeth are grinding too,due to tyrannical, insecure, neurotic, manipulative, control feak boss woman

She is like a controlling possesive boyfriend but without the sex or nights out . Last week she told me she "wasn't happy with me becoming too friendly" with a partner agency, because they "are our enemies" . The woman is frigging bonkers and is driving me up the wall atm

Ahem...'scuse the rant!

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/04/2010 17:41

Hello!

Exhausted after day at work. DSs looked after by MIL. And no veg box! Obviously misunderstanding of some sort ... Will have to eat very old kale from garden.

Dusty - Boss sounds mad. Hopefully she'll come to her senses after holiday?

sushi - our dentist has big banners outside shop advertising open NHS list.

Mellow - how to sleep with only net curtains? Don't you get woken up by the light at nothing o'clock?

Am envious of French houses having shutters. So nice and dark to sleep in. BUt does make entire towns look abandoned.

sfxmum · 13/04/2010 17:47

oh shutters love shutter, house back where I come from has shutter lovely to lock them in summer evenings all the warm breeze drifting in, and it keeps the heat out during the day

hello all

NHS dentist will look out for it, my teeth are seriously bad and I always fear the payment, my sister's dentist does mixed so she can pick and choose

dophin that is nuts, best ignore she will end up self destructing anyway, one way or another

  • I mean just the energy alone to be that mad

we have been out and about all day, quite tired now

vbus · 13/04/2010 19:48

Sushi - LOl at falling asleep in chair, cute!

Dusty - boss does indeed sound bonkers, rant away if it makes you feel better

Sfx - what did you get up to?

Mellow - bet you can't wait for the house to be finished

Copper - I never understood why Swedish houses don't have shutters, still don't know how people sleep when it's broad daylight at 2am during the summer. DS1 as a baby used to wake hrly when the light started creeping in thinking it was time to start the day. We quickly had to get dark curtains which meant he slept til 6am

Went to playgroup this morning which was fun and then just spent afternoon in garden as friend cancelled at last min. Had no gas all day. DS2 gutted he couldn't have bath tonight, no hot water and for some stupid reason I tried to microwave spagetti for tea as no gas to boil on hob, what was I thinking???!

pcworld · 13/04/2010 20:30

vbus, lol at microved spaghetti - so how did that turn out

A productive day here, spent clearing out the shed while poor ds slept literally all day. Poor little thing has had a reaction to the swine flu jab. Let's hope for some improvement tomorrow - he did pick up a toy car and look at it thoughtfully for a minute earlier on so things may be improving slightly.

Dusty, sorry to hear about annoying boss, grr. Hope you are managing to get some lovely walks on the beach fitted in to help you zen out.

Copper, how was the kale? How did you cook it?

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/04/2010 21:56

pc - didn't do the kale. Should have done though - found some parsnip and celeriac in the fridge and cooked them instead but they were so underdone and we were so starving that they were just not eaten ... The kale looks like an enormous bush now. Don't think they'd be nice to eat. Can you prune kale?!

vbus · 13/04/2010 22:23

Copper - I think you can prune kale. I'm no expert but it might help the plant to keep growing. What are you going to make with it?

PCW - fingers crossed DS gets over his reaction fast. Well done on spring cleaning the shed.

BTW the spagetti was dreadful, had to bin it. I only did it as gas man told me gas would be back on by 5pm, he lied. But I'd already told DS1 that we were going to have spag bol for tea and of course this whathe demended when I found out still no gas. I ended up giving them bolognese sandwiches. The lengths we go to try and please our kids

vbus · 13/04/2010 22:25

what he demanded

Copper - I think you're meant to only eat the young leaves

pcworld · 14/04/2010 11:37

To those of you who are enjoying a lovely morning at Kew (vbus! sfx!) - hope you have a lovely time and am v sorry not to see you but poor ds has a nasty virus and so am pretty hectic at this end. He is having a sleep at the moment and I am on here but actually supposed to be clearing out my wardrobe! Planning a massive and thorough clear-out so that I just have a capsule wardrobe. So ... that'll be jeans, jeans and converse, then Moving house is a great catalyst for a sort-out!

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/04/2010 13:20

PC - hope DS is better. We had a trip to the GP this morning too, but it's not anything too nasty, luckily. DS2 had swine flu jab but he didn't have any reaction. Not even when he was jabbed ...

I'm throwing out lots of things too, and I'm not even moving house.

What's a capsule wardrobe? Reminds me of Dragon Ball comics, where you can have magic capsules that will expand to give you houses and cars etc. That would be nice, won't it?

mellow2 · 14/04/2010 13:26

Dusty - thanks for dentist tip. Will check it out.

Pcworld - when are you moving?

sfx - we're getting cafe style shutters (bottom half only) in the living room. Do you think full shutters will make room too dark?

sfxmum · 14/04/2010 15:43

hello all

pcW sorry to hear poor boy and poor you, hope he recovers soon

copper all goes well

mellow the shutters should have a slide thing in the middle allowing extra light in but I suppose it depends how much light those windows actually get iyswim

sfxmum · 14/04/2010 15:44

we are off to Hyde park soon for dh's 10K he seems a bit nervous

vbus · 14/04/2010 21:03

Sfx - Nice to see you & DD earlier DS1 well worn out, asleep within mins! Hope the race went well

PCW - sorry you couldn't make it, hope DS is on the mend soon, go away nasty virus

Mellow - we have full shutters on most windows in our house with slats. When closed the room is dark but some light does get in, we only close them at night time anyway. The DC have blinds as well as shutters in their rms

Been to gym tonight so now time for my ice cream

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/04/2010 21:46

Hello!

I made kulfi and it was nice!

sfx - how was race?

sfxmum · 14/04/2010 22:31

hello

race was nice lots of runners joggers and walkers so lots of fun, dd cheered a lot and dh did quite well

vbus think dd was very happy to play with your ds but he really needs to watch ice age3 to have a proper conversation

dustythedolphin · 15/04/2010 09:21

SFX Glad DH's run went well! IKWYM about the dentist bill being even more scarey than the actual treatment

PC do you have a move date?

Wendt to Yoga Tues eve which was just what I needed to get rid of boss-related stress. Had a lovely walk down to the beach last night, while DS1 was at Badminton, to whewre my namesake swims in the cove

Thanks for all your support - helps to be able to have a rant. You probably think I have no friends here ('cos I keep popping back to you) but I do in fact have TWO friends here now, the ppl who leave each side of our house

vbus · 15/04/2010 19:14

sfx - lo and behold Ds1 wanted to watch Ice Age 1&2 today. Then he asked me why we didn't have Ice age 3 like minisfx He said he liked their 'throw it in the water' game too

Dusty - nice you got to relax and that you're starting to make friends

We had nice day at Little Fishes this morning and all afternoon at playground enjoying the sun even though it was tad chilly. Spring is struggling to get going isn't it?

tillyfernackerpants · 15/04/2010 20:55

hi everyone, am frantically revising for a test I have to take next week but thought I'd take a quick break!

dusty, sorry about boss, she sounds like a right nightmare! But glad to see you're settling in

Pc, how's ds today? Well done on the decluttering!

vbus, lol at microwave spaghetti! Ds1 is also a big fan of Ice Age but we only have the first one. He also likes Stuart Little now after watching it at his gp's house.

Sushi, bless at ds falling asleep . How's the progress on the school front? Ds2 is fine now thanks for asking, just teething but he was getting temps & being very cuddly (spent the whole of Tuesday either on me or on his nan)!

We've been having a nice relaxed break, few trips here & there but mainly chilling at home. I had to wake ds1 at 8.30am this morning which is unheard of!

Right, must get back to it

OP posts:
pcworld · 15/04/2010 21:24

Dusty - great to hear you are making friends - no, we don't have a moving date yet, we are going through the whole conveyancing process at the moment.

I am just back from A&E with ds - I really can't believe our bad luck as the poor wee chap has "a severe case of mumps". So it would appear he is one of the 5% or so for whom the MMR does not do a complete job. Have just been scaring myself by reading about complications on the nhs website - never a good idea!

UptoapointLordCopper · 15/04/2010 21:28

PC - Sorry to hear about DS! Is he better? One of my brothers had mumps but recovered pretty well.

We love Ice Age 3. Best of the 3, I think. Very enjoyable.

sfxmum · 15/04/2010 22:14

pcW sorry to hear poor boy, hope he recovers quickly, I remember having mumps no complications, stay away from the Net

copper dd quotes Ice age 3 endlessly
vbus she was talking about that at dinner today

dolphin friends = good

just finished watching debate, can't wait for next one, DC really could not sound more patronising and has apparently met many people, even a black one who talked to him about immigration

am not even keen on the alternative but DC just makes me want to run away

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/04/2010 07:14

Good morning!

Did not watch debate though heard pre-debate debate on radio. Can't imagine it's going to change my mind. Seeing DC talk might make me throw up my dinner and I had a rather nice dinner.

Did watch have I got news for you though. Bound to be more informative.

sfx - we get quotes from Jungle Book at the moment. And Cars. And Charlie and Lola. They shout "AUTUMN!!??" at the top of their voices in each other's ears. (From Charlie and Lola when Lola wanted to start collecting leaves but was horrified to find that leaves only drop in autumn.) I've ban play-acting at dinner table now, on pain of no more telly ever.

SushiMummy · 16/04/2010 07:33

pcw - poor, poor DS. Hope he makes a very quick recovery.

tilly - teething time can be tiresome, I remember those sleepless nights... Hope it gets better soon.

About the school, for some reasons, we got offered two places and we accepted the one much closer to our home and with wrap around care so I am relieved. Thanks for asking.

sfxmum · 16/04/2010 09:29

good morning all

sushi glad it is sorted, dd recently discovered that after 'big' school she would actually be going to 'really big' school and asked us which one it would be, we went green and changed the subject quickly

tilly good luck with test

speaking of studies I must push on from Monday, my next essay is due on election day/dh's birthday and my exam is mid June

copper I do love the random quotes in conversation that only those in the know have any chance of understanding, a life of geekdom awaits them

sunny day must pop out and do something, possibly quiet as am not feeling very energetic
