funny that I'm the on;y person thinking aabout it. Can you spot the accountant Grin

sfxmum · 13/08/2010 09:38

hello

where is the Summer?
oh well at least there were some lovely warm days Grin

it is library day today also need to get some of those things that go on the end of curtain poles, what are they called?
other than end curtain pole thingies

vbus hope DS1 is ok

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/08/2010 09:48

Hello!

I see rain forecast for the foreseeable future. Is that going to be good or bad for the plum tree? Confused We've got some plums just turning pink.

Can someone please warn me if it's going to start being frosty? The lemongrass has to come in. Where am I going to bung a great big pot indoors??

DS1 is doing the library reading thingy where you get stickers for reading books. We've clocked up two so going in next week to claim sticker.

sfx - finials? Won't know how you say it though. I'd just ask for curtain pole endy thingies.

sfxmum · 13/08/2010 10:02

we are doing that too lordcopper, but our local library is run mostly by two young guys in the throws of an existential crisis I fear, It was hard to suppress laughter watching one of them read a story to the children, completely histerical
Grin

can't help with plums situation, but think frost not an issue for now, there is a rumour that the weather might improve just as they start schoolHmm

sfxmum · 13/08/2010 13:08

was thinking of booking a half term break with Eurostar and thought maybe to Lille, so far the best deal I can find is mon-fri £175 return and £350 hotel does it all sound too much? am really inexperienced at this stuff

  • where to look?
vbus · 13/08/2010 14:04

Hi

Sfx - Is that for all 3 of you? Is breakfast included and is hotel central? If so maybe not a bad price...??

Copper - what are you going to make with your fruit? We have 3 damson trees in garden, been having lovely fruit. Sadly one tree is diseased and another maybe in the way of kitchen extension so may have to go if we can't get away with just pruning back. Must make some jam.

Did library trip this morning. Glad to be staying in this afternoon as we're all tired, friend coming over later.

vbus · 13/08/2010 14:16

Btw DS1 is fine thanks for asking. Immediately after it happened 2 other mums said same thing happened to their kids, one ended up with a split forehead, pretty dangerous gates

sfxmum · 13/08/2010 14:25

ouch with gates glad he is ok

so where do you recommend I search for deals?
saw a nice place self catering near centre but with train plus stay gets near £700 which sounds excessive
is it better to get things separate? last minute?
over weekend or during week?

pardon the questions but I never used this sort of travel thing before

TIA

vbus · 13/08/2010 14:39

It's deffo cheaper to get travel and accom separate unless you want to wait for last min deal but then you might not get best choice. Cheaper over a wkend too.

Got to go DS2 just woke up plus friend will be here soon, will write more later

sfxmum · 13/08/2010 14:48

thanks vbus so different travelling with child and booking stuff
off to library soon

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/08/2010 14:48

sfx - don't know anything about booking holidays either. Why Lille anyway?

vbus - don't know yet if fruit is edible! If edible we'll eat it. If not I guess fruit crumble or something?

sfxmum · 13/08/2010 15:09

am looking for somewhere to go half October term that does not include flying

dh is like the guy out of the A-Team where planes are concerned lately

sfxmum · 13/08/2010 15:11

taking dd to the cinema tomorrow in Kingston something to do with Tinkerbell and the fairy rescueGrin I expect it will be girls only

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/08/2010 16:33

We haven't flown with the kids for holidays apart from going to Malaysia to see parents.

Bruges is nice too. Chocolate, chips and beer. So is Ghent. I prefer Belgium to France in terms of food and friendliness.

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/08/2010 16:34

Bit bored. Feel like shopping ...

tillyfernackerpants · 15/08/2010 13:35

Copper, did you do any shopping in the end?

Quiet on here this weekend!

OP posts:
vbus · 15/08/2010 16:26

Back from playground. V. quiet day here after a busy week. Dh gone off to US again, can't wait to watch Ugly Betty and indulge in some mags Grin

Hope everyone having a nice wkend

UptoapointLordCopper · 15/08/2010 18:47

Hello!

Busy weekend with ILs.

tilly - didn't do shopping. Nothing to buy. Though one of our clip-it containers have broken so that's an excuse to buy something. Hmm Hmm Yes I'm pathetic.

Did buy some sheet music last week from the Elgar Birthplace Museum (online, of course). There was a scribbled note of thanks on the invoice. I thought that was a lovely human touch in our digital age. I think I'm starved of human interaction (not saying that DC are not human but you know what I mean). Are we having our nightout next week?

When to buy school shoes? Shall we buy trainers too? Shall I bleach old white polo shirts one more time to get them less grey? These are deep questions I'm pondering while DH does bedtime with the kids.

On second thought I'll go and read my charity shop 25p Clive Cussler's Inca Gold. Hmm Hmm

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

UptoapointLordCopper · 15/08/2010 18:49

Just checked the nightout thread. Smile I'm going to be car-less that day so may take the chance to wander about Richmond a bit. Anyone up for drinks a bit earlier?

Kewcumber · 15/08/2010 19:28

we have just come back fom afternoon at Transport museum - fab place. Have found DS's spiritual home. He entertained the packed tube home with his running commentary on the "dillyPiccy Line"

sfxmum · 15/08/2010 19:50

kewC that is pricelessGrin

had enforced rest over weekend so dh took dd to Tinkerbell film and took over the girly outing in style, today they went to Richmond park to collect blackberries for a pudding which they are still cookingHmmI think bedtime should be sometime near 10pm
they have trailgator cycle link thingy they look adorable

lorcopper hope I can join you for at least a drink we shall see

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/08/2010 10:08

Bored bored bored.

Must work a bit. Then the hunt is on for boxes to contain artwork to go in loft.

DS1 keeps pestering me to get Hama beads. But I want a demonstration of ability to not chuck toys all over the place. Does that mean no Hama beads ever? They get two days in which to show me the evidence of said ability...

tillyfernackerpants · 16/08/2010 13:04

Copper, I have a Hama bead set your boys could use. It's a glow in the dark space one. Has been opened but never used - I got a bit scared by all the tiny beads that would end up everywhere (a bit like glitter) Grin

Sfx, ds1 has one of those trailgator things, they're very good!

Must check night out thread...

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 16/08/2010 13:44

and DS got his 25m swimming barge [proud mummy emoticon] and has insisted on paperclipping it to the neck of his T shirt!

Kewcumber · 16/08/2010 16:50

just met my father for coffee for the first time in about 12 years Shock
