Copper - not sure if I'll get chance to come out for drink but will text you on the night in case I can escape any earlier. Think I'm going to buy school shoes 1st wk of Sept, is that too late?

tillyfernackerpants · 16/08/2010 20:18

vbus, I shouldn't think first week will be too late, that's when I'm planning on getting ds1's!

Glad you all had a good time today Envy. Ds2 was a bit grumpy this morning but then typically perked up this afternoon!! But we will definitely come next time you go!

Copper, no worries. We could always meet up at a park & I can hand them over?

Kew, well done to ds1! How was seeing your dad again?

I've posted on meet up thread but I can't make it now. My parents are over & I'm teaching in the morning so don't think dh will be too happy if I leave them all day & night Grin

Steppy how was the trip, are you still there???? can't wait to hear all about it!

Vbus we give money for chores here, as opposed to pocket money, as we feel they need to earn it and it since we have ben doing it, they have all become a lot more accostomed to the idea of offering to help generally (even when they know they won't get a financial reward)

We've just put our house in the market, in case any of you walk past and spot a sign Wink

Have my eye on dream house here..

vbus photos cute, they had so much fun

Kewcumber · 17/08/2010 14:15

meeting with fatehr was disappointingly normal. He talked endlessly about family history adn how he is a role model to the rest of the family due to his successful life (this from the man who lives in a caravan and is hardly in touch with any of his fmaily Hmm). Did ask about DS but managed a whole two hour meeting without asking how I was - after 13 years of not seeing me!

Then implied he was glad to have finally met me (I resisted saying "well it would only have taken aphone call") as he probably didn;t have much time left... he is 73 and his mother is 93 so onthe basis of that just as likely to last another 20+ years. When I asked why he muttered about his arthritic knees - ah yes the well known killer arthritic knees [knees]. I did remind him at that point that mum has survived cancer but on the whole I didn;t challnege anything much there isn't much point really as I can't see us ever getting back into a normal relationship.

Still maybe coffee twice a year will get me mentioned in the will - I could end up with a part share in a caravan on an over 50's site Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/08/2010 18:35

Hello!

Been to Natural History Museum. Will never do it again in school hols. Complete madness. Dinosaurs were impossible, and mammals were packed. Luckily not that many people want to see minerals and crystals and volcanoes.

Kew - well done on diplomatic success at meeting. Grin I have relatives who think we are appalling failures. They don't say it to our face but they tell other relatives who tell us. Hurrah for family grapevines. Grin Luckily (for them) they are thousands of miles away.

sfxmum · 17/08/2010 20:22

never dinosaurs on school holidays

we did go to mammals, because it was closed last time, and the fantastic body, nearly went to the new Cocoon Darwin Centre but dd was too tired
also the area above the atrium is very nice and not many people go there, they have short cuts to other areas too

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/08/2010 21:01

sfx - it took us ages to find the minerals gallery. We wanted to see the giant sequoia but everyone was far too tired by then. We'll do it again on some inset day or something, or we'll have to bung off school to do it.

Is it just me being uber-feminist to get annoyed at being addressed as Mrs DH's initial DH's surname? Always winds me up.

sfxmum · 17/08/2010 21:09

lordcopper regarding name not unreasonable but I actually have the same initial as DH so hard to tell when my feminist outrage is being provoked Grin
about the NHM the side entrance goes directly to the minerals earth and so on and is usually less busy than the grand staircase.

but do tell what is it with the falcons? am intrigued

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/08/2010 21:15

Oh the falcons. There is a pair of peregrine falcons nesting at that chimney thingy of the Tate Modern. See www.rspb.org.uk/datewithnature/sites/tate/index.asp. I saw a clip of one of them hunting a pigeon above St Paul's Cathedral in a BBC documentary but can't find the programme again. But WE WANT TO SEE THEM!!!

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/08/2010 21:17

Link doesn't seem to work. Google "peregrine falcon tate modern" for RSPB site.

sfxmum · 17/08/2010 21:19

that is fabulous thanks

we are still to visit the British Museum and possibly the Childhood one too depends on time and circumstances

swimming in Richmond tomorrow I think

sfxmum · 17/08/2010 21:19

works fine for me

tillyfernackerpants · 18/08/2010 07:41

Ds1 actually prefers the minerals/earthquakes/volacanoes to the dinosaurs at the NHM!

Kew, well done on being so restrained!
