Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

Ours open too - phew as I have works Christmas lunch todayt and school Disco tonight which is the DCs "leaving party", as all their friends will be there

stepfordwife · 18/12/2009 13:25

....yes..i've got a serious double muffin-top going on...that'll be the eating too much and vino habit i suppose...

we're off to snow white at richmond theatre this evening (...oh no we're not..) and dd has got a snow white outfit to wear which dh is cringing slightly about.
come on...who else but a four-year-old girl could get away with doing that?! got a £6 ensemble from good old TK Maxx...compared to £15 in M & S and £30-plus in disney store..

dd worried she hasn't got dark hair (i tolerate snow white because she's a brunette )

THANK GOD LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

slng · 18/12/2009 16:30

Can't help thinking our school is a bit feeble ... But we had a nice time with DS1 shopping for new clothes and eating sushi. DS2 decided he wanted to go to nursery and "stay for tea".

sfxmum · 18/12/2009 16:57

tilly this is why I took the buggy this morning I had to get there in time

slng sounds like time well spent

steppie hope you have a great time we are booked for the 22nd, can't wait

dh will be late tonight but then home for nearly 2 weeks Hurrah

dustythedolphin · 18/12/2009 17:36

We have school disco tonight, complete with a visit from Father Christmas. It will be the older children's 6th and last disco and their "goodbye" party - feeling a mixture of sadness and excitement

Going to Baby Peter's grave tomorrow to take a big bundle of presents ppl have sent for the little man then possibly on to Hamleys afterwards wuith the DCs

slng · 19/12/2009 13:45

Hello all!

Spent the morning making parts of the gingerbread house. Will do side walls and roof tomorrow! I'm not optimistic it will work though ... Everything looks a bit misshapen ...

slng · 20/12/2009 13:50

Slng - pics please of completed house

I thought it was hilarious RATM made it to #1! more moshpit memories

pcworld · 20/12/2009 20:58

Hello All! Largely being wimps and not venturing too far {{cold emoticon}} and celebrating early christmas with friends at home today Eating and drinking lots of lovely things and the dcs wild and generally over-excited! SFX, hope you enjoy the night out. Auntie - so how was the end-of-term disco and how is everybody feeling?

dustythedolphin · 21/12/2009 09:33

Vbus its not coming along ATM as we're too busy but we have 5 clear days after Christmas day when we can roll our sleeves up and get stuck into it. My stepmum has offered to babysit one day so we can get down to it - panic hasn't quite set in yet...

PPC the kids enjoyed the disco but I got a bit tearful when a mum came and grabbed me and hugged me and wouldn't let go and we both ended up in tears. It was an "I want this night to last forever" scenario, 'cos I felt I didn't want to leave all my friends there. Somehow your children's social life seems more important than your own doesn't it? We've had 6 years there and its a terrible wrench, I love that school....but the new school is lovely too and even friendlier

Hope everyone had a nice weekend...our car battery went flat last night in the snow of Highate Hill at 9pm had to call the AA oout and when they tried lo and behold it opened and started immediately we're all tired today tho'

stepfordwife · 21/12/2009 11:51

...awwww, dusty, bet that was so emotional..

vbus - a spa day! fab. you deserve it and bet you really enjoyed it.
sfx..where did you go?

have accidentally seem to have quite a lot of work on due first week of jan .
usually try to keep christmas clear - especially this year - but (huge over-draft) needs must!

to add to madness, got my nephew and niece coming for two "sleepovers." but love having a tribe round and the kids all get on well (in between squabbles).

stepfordwife · 21/12/2009 11:52

yes, liking RATM being no.1...but what amuses me is that they're signed with sony - er, same as our little joe - so not quite raging against the machine, eh?

sfxmum · 21/12/2009 13:28

hello all

dusty bless hard to leave friends, enjoy Christmas albeit it over masses of boxes

steppie just had niece and nephew over for sleep over/babysitting always nice to have a full house
good luck with deadlines

have essay due on 4th

we were too tired and too cold to do much yesterday so just went to the cinema for 'A serious man' V. good

did not even have dinner out as still too full from big pub lunch

planing on quiet day in or near home as dh dashes about doing his Christmas shopping

panto tomorrow and then we are off, can't wait and hope road are better
chaos out there apparently

sfxmum · 21/12/2009 13:35

and we are freecycling a lot of baby/ toddler stuff today and tomorrow, pram, first car seat tricycle etc

am going with festive spirit and swallowing hard

stepfordwife · 21/12/2009 15:48

right, take it back, they're all driving me nuts now
i've lurched from ma walton to the grinch

stepfordwife · 21/12/2009 16:06

swallowing hard for you too, sfx.

enjoy panto - it was fun and dd thought she WAS snow white. she kept asking if people thought it was funny she was sitting with us in the stalls instead of being up on stage..
bless..deluded just like her mother

it was rather high school musical, tho....but sets and costumes fab...and although couldn't imagine jane asher as the wicked queen (going to batter me to death with a victoria sponge, love?) she was good..

sfxmum · 21/12/2009 17:00

LOL steppie yes Jane Asher must work hard at being convincingly menacing but I guess she can do bitch well

dh still out in his epic shopping trip looks pretty out but decided against leaving the house as dd has a cold and I feel lazy after slippery run this morning

plus there is wine and Baileys in the house and it must be drinks o'clock by now

slng · 21/12/2009 20:44

Hello!

Had nice time at friend's house today. Drove home in the snow. Very pretty.

We are going to see a Christmas show tomorrow in hammersmith. Hope the tube runs...

Keep thinking must get rid of more stuff to make room for new toys/stuff for Christmas. Already took three bags to charity shop. Have my eyes on the loud fire engine under the stairs now ...

Definitely drinks o'clock here now.

TheWorldFamousKewcumber · 21/12/2009 22:54

Nice to hear snow white was good steppie - I too am manic in work.

On another note - does anyone have a garage or covered drive they would like to rent me for my trailer tent/s?

dustythedolphin · 22/12/2009 07:18

Hi - soz no Kew

SFX hope you enjoyed panto

Steps - annoying about work but good you are so much in demand as well

Last day (ever) of the Dcs school today and not sure it will be open today due to snow. I got trapped last night for several hours on a staff coach at Brunel Uni in Uxbridge, took 1hr to exit car park due to coach being unable to turn safely in snow and ice - was so relieved when snow ceased, otherwise I may not have got home - was visualising night at Ramada Hotel or something

SFX I need your advice again, I need to give away our Phil & Teds - can you advise how I can donate to freecycle - unless anyone here wants but of course, its fine but don't need double buggy anymore - been using it this term to take DS1's sax to school in the back

dustythedolphin · 22/12/2009 07:19

Slng enjoy show today

sfxmum · 22/12/2009 20:26

hi all

Panto was scary according to dd who wanted to leave immediately once the evil queen showed up which unfortunately was right at the start, but in the end we managed to persuade her to stay and she enjoyed the show hiding when needed

now packing o leave in the morning ans wishing we had rented a 4X4

dust we just registered with the local and posted the items we had, it is all gone now, we have been lucky that people show up we they say they will

slng hope the show was good

slng · 22/12/2009 20:54

Hello!

Show was good, but DS2 was a bit scared and wanted to go home a few times but laughed most of the time when he forgot he was scared. Next year we'll try panto.

dusty - we also just registered and posted items on local freecycle. Had quite good experience and people did turn up when they said they would. Maybe I'll try to give away the reuseable nappies this way - nappy exchanges completely pants...

slng · 23/12/2009 10:16

Good morning all!

Off to town to spend DS2's nursery grant. (Only joking ... maybe ...)
