well tilly I fully expect to gets quite emotional on Thursday if that is any consolation

does anyone want to meet up at 1 o'clock club next Thursday? was thinking of heading there just after nursery

dd is clearly tired having been up since before 7, very unusual for her, dh will be late today so will try to get her sorted and in bed at decent time

hope everyone is well

OP posts:
pcworld · 25/08/2009 14:31

I was spared the last day of nursery scenario as dd had chicken pox - I was quite relieved, in a way! So will be saving the whole emotional thing for her first day at "big" school!

SFX, we could meet you at the 1 o'clock club next Thurs, we'd probably get along a bit later as ds will have a sleep.

Wondering when to brave the crowds with regard to the school shoes - can't face it yet but I guess the longer we leave it, the busier it will be ....

tillyfernackerpants · 25/08/2009 14:43

sfx, ds1 was fine though. I got a bit teary when we got home, ds1 gave me a kiss & a cuddle 'to make you feel better' then added 'but you're been silly mummy'!

sfxmum · 25/08/2009 14:45

the cheek of the boy

pcW we will be there after 1 as nursery finishes at 1 then we get the bus down apparently very hot day so best keep outdoors while we can

just had to deal with stupid bank with ridiculous charges

OP posts:
vbus · 25/08/2009 14:53

Tilly - that's so sweet I'll be gutted/emotional come Fri knowing how much DS1 loves the place. End of an era!

Sfx - ta for idea about smellies for pressie, been to Kingston this morning and bought some goodies for the teachers

Would be up for MH on Thurs but like PCW I'll have to meet you later after DS2's nap

sfxmum · 26/08/2009 13:55

hello all

hope everyone is well

glad we had some warm sunshine on way out from nursery for a good run around

tomorrow is dd's last day but today was the last day she had with one of her favourite teachers, it was sweet to watch that both were clearly moved

OP posts:
vbus · 26/08/2009 18:00

Definitely feeling more autumnal today, pity the summer has to end it has been great

The nightmare has started, now that DS2 is mobile of a fashion, he is starting to play with DS1's trains and cars and guess who doesn't like it? He keeps asking me to move DS2

Sfx - save the hankies for tomorrow!

tillyfernackerpants · 26/08/2009 19:57

vbus, I'm getting that as well, 'mummy, ds2 is touching my toys'. All hell broke loose earlier though when ds2 managed to grab one of ds1's grapes

Hopefully the summer isn't over yet, surely we're owed a few more nice days?

sfxmum · 26/08/2009 20:42

oh sibling rivalry I remember it well

fairy cakes done and pinked up
looking forward to tomorrow especially the afternoon

OP posts:
pcworld · 26/08/2009 21:24

LOL! Same here re: sibling rivalry. Although to be fair, dd is extremely tolerant. If ds can't get her attention, he will grab her hair! He also has a fondness for switching off the tv in the middle of her favourite princess/fairy dvd ...

Have spent the last two days entertaining various of dd's little playmates, so in a nutshell, pink, bossy princesses running amok and occasionally coming to me to demand more snacks. Do not have enough pink cups so have had to put a ban on them altogether and serve fluids in only blue, green or yellow cups to avoid arguments. At the height of it all this evening, ds decided to join in the fracas by putting a plastic frying pan plus some implements down the toilet

Will look forward to seeing some of you briefly tomorrow, in between running around after ds and ... er ... running around after ds

Hope the last days at nursery go well, on to the next milestone soon.

SushiMummy · 27/08/2009 06:53

Morning everyone! Sorry, not much time to MN these days, hope you are all well.

Very quickly, does anyone have slng's email address?

Oh dear, my DS will be officially one of the oldest at the nursery from next week. He was a baby when he started. sfx - hope DD enjoys her last day there. Did you know some of the children still go there for the afternoon in the first term of school?

tillyfernackerpants · 28/08/2009 06:51

Sushi, sorry we don't get to see you anymore, think I have slng's email, will let you know

Nice to see everyone yesterday, ds1 had lots of fun though did claim that minisfx & minigherkin wouldn't let him play superheroes

We're nearly at the end of this thread & I am wondering if we should decamp from here to FB? Just seems that we've lost loads of people recently but everyone is on FB. We could start a group there so still private & keep in touch that way. Any thoughts?

pcworld · 28/08/2009 08:26

Tilly - good idea re: FB, I concur! Was great to see some of you yesterday, sorry I had to keep rushing off but ds is a great one for getting into scrapes plus inserting unsuitable objects into his mouth!

Sushi - hope you are all well - there are not enough hours in the day eh?

We are going to Kew Gardens this morning just in case anyone is around. Will try and avoid C&C, weather is far too nice!

sfxmum · 28/08/2009 09:33

good morning

still having breakfast here

tilly dd says he was being superman but could not be super robot because those are the rules their random rules are totally bonkers, sorry if he got upset

date night tonight I might some energy later but at least I am not expected to make sparkly seductive conversation

OP posts:
vbus · 28/08/2009 10:05

Nice to see everyone yesterday, both boys loved the sandpit!

KC - hope sleep clinic was helpful

Sfx - LOL, who said romance is dead?

Just dropped DS1 off at last session, the teachers said they'd miss him loads, I had to leg it before I blubbed I think DS1 more upset that the hamsters are going back today

PCW - might pop into Kew briefly to meet some friedns so may see you there

tillyfernackerpants · 28/08/2009 10:23

sfx, he wasn't upset, just very matter of fact about it all! He's also good at making up random rules & changing them as he goes along, sign of a good imagination

Have a nice night tonight, lol at conversation expectations (or not)!

We're off to toy library this afternoon, is it bad to say its because it requires minimum effort from me?

mygreatauntgriselda · 28/08/2009 18:27

vbus thanks so much 4 looking after furries - have a fabby weekend

just dropping in - for anyone planning to join us for the picnic on Sunday (re. FB invitation) we will be there byb 4pm, not 3pm, as we'll be driving thru the night so will have sleep for Sunday daytime

xxx

slng · 29/08/2009 16:26

Hello! Back from hols! Will read thread later ...

slng · 30/08/2009 21:22

Hello again! Hope everyone had a nice week! We had a good holiday - pics on FB. Did shopping for school uniform for DS1 today and then had visit from FIL in the afternoon. Exhausted now ... need a holiday ...

sfxmum · 31/08/2009 09:47

hello all

welcome back auntie and slng

has everyone de camped to FB?

uninspiring weather must do some running been too lazy/busy lately

OP posts:
pcworld · 31/08/2009 14:42

Hello! Been out and about and neither on facebook nor on here! Hope everyone is having a good weekend? We've been out and about being busy and having fun. SFX, some of our plans may change this week so will keep you posted just in case you are free and anybody else of course Need to factor in getting a completely smashed patio door fixed. Thank goodness it is safety glass so it is all still in situ, just a rather artistic effect. Not courtesy of the dcs but a stone that flew up from the lawn when dh was cutting the grass. Thankgoodness the dcs were no-where near at the time! One of those really random things in life.

slng · 31/08/2009 21:09

Hello!

PCW - we had a similar incident years ago when renting a house. Landlord's gardener mowed the lawn and broke the patio door. But it wasn't safety glass ... Hope it's sorted soon!

Went to MIL's for lunch today. Also went on boat. Just out of interest - would you let your DC who can't swim go on a boat without lifejackets?

sfxmum · 31/08/2009 23:07

about the boat I guess it depends what size it is but whenever we have been on a boat dd has never worn a life jacket am confident dh&me are strong swimmers
but if it was a small yacht or a speed boat might be different

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda · 01/09/2009 10:12

Slng interesting question

I have a paranoia about this as having 3 DCs and being a fairly novive swimmer I have horrid fears of a scenario whare I have to choose which one to save.

The answer is I don't know, I guess I would measure up the No of adults present who were strong swimmers, with the number of non swimming DCs in the boat and make a calculation. I'd also make sure the other adults were aware that two of my 3 DCs can't swim , etc etc

mygreatauntgriselda · 01/09/2009 10:14

PC sorry to hear about patio door, how very annoying and lucky no one was injured
