The thing with the pushchair is: no pushchair = 2 happy walking children, 1 pushchair = 2 moany children wanting to sit. Perhaps I should take my airport dragy bag? Or buy one of those shopping trolleys ...

sfxmum · 17/08/2009 21:51

I put the bag on the seat of the pushchair and tell dd to walk

tilly costume sounds great very creative

tillyfernackerpants · 18/08/2009 07:02

sfx, I would say desperation rather than creative!

slng · 18/08/2009 08:25

Good morning!

Breakfast done. (Why can't little children sit in the middle of a chair instead of at the edge!? I've seen more than one child fall off a chair, not doing anything especially silly, just sitting. Anyway.) Laundry done. Time to figure out picnic lunch ... DS1 wants sandwiches + chelsea buns, DS2 wants sandwiches and pasta and noodles and chelsea buns, I want noodles and chelsea buns. Do you think we might need a golf buggy to take all these!?

slng · 18/08/2009 08:26

Tilly - desperation is the mother of creativity .

vbus · 18/08/2009 10:23

Tilly - outfit sounds ace! Have emailed you about sat night, thank you [smiile] We sometimes do the minutes thing but lately DS1 has started asking for bonus minutes once his time is up

Slng - enjoy picnic, at least bag will be empty on your return

Going out for coffee soon with friend the one who's have life pondering thoughts, again. Better put on my listening hat today

sfxmum · 18/08/2009 10:26

Hello!

Back from very nice day at Kew. Bread all went mouldy so we all had noodles... Polished everything so bag indeed lighter coming back! Now vegging out in front of telly.

tillyfernackerpants · 18/08/2009 16:24

Well after all the fuss, ds1 won the best dressed competition . Though I suspect that it might have to do with the fact that only about 3 of the children dressed up!

Have had a nice afternoon at the park, a friend's dd & ds had a birthday picnic, just very relaxed! Could do with going to bed now but unfortunately have to feed the ds's!

sfxmum · 18/08/2009 17:00

Lovely day

Well done Tilly on outfit. IKWYM about wanting to sleep

We walked by the river this afternoon where DS1 decided to join in tag with two 7yr old girls and what looked like their au pairs. They chased each other round for ages, great fun for him, I just sat in the sun and relaxed!

pcworld · 19/08/2009 06:43

vbus, lol at the life pondering thoughts! Hope your listening hat came in useful! Tilly - congrats on winning the fancy dress! I know I'm going to be soooo average on that front. Sounds as though everyone had a nice day yesterday. I did enjoy the first half of our trip to Hampstead, not quite so much the second when ds became rather "over-tired" and definitely not the bit when I found a parking ticket slapped on the window. That's the problem with Hampstead - blardy parking! Will stick to Marble Hill with a friend this morning. By the way, according to the bbc it is going to be hot, hot, HOT today!-

tillyfernackerpants · 19/08/2009 07:45

Off to Duke's Meadow with some friends today, hopefully we'll be there early enough to bag the one tree that provides shade

vbus · 19/08/2009 09:51

Tis going to be a scorcher today

PCW - what a bummer getting the parking ticket, hope you have better luck today

Tilly - good luck with the tree hogging

Not sure what to do this afternoon, was thinking of 1 o'clock club but fear it may be too hot & too packed. May pop to Kew instead

sfxmum · 19/08/2009 10:56

hello all

dd at nursery but once she is out we will go to Sheen Rec it has a huge paddling pool will let her get soaked

now back to writing essay

OP posts:
vbus · 19/08/2009 19:16

Ended up at park this afternoon which was quite shady and then had ice creams, nice.

Sfx - how as paddling pool?

Tilly - how was Dukes meadow?

Hope everyone enjoying the sunshine

sfxmum · 19/08/2009 19:44

hello dd managed to wet 2sets of shorts and one t-shirt nd by wet I mean soaked but it is my fault for not taking her cossie
it was mayhem
fortunately I took a a dress as well so she came home dry, we are both slightly burnt and full of ice cream and child still awake talking to daddy but she has eyes half open

vbus shady day in the park sounds good

pcworld · 19/08/2009 20:13

Ooooh, another nice day for everyone, eh? Tilly, what entrance do you use for Dukes Meadows? We went last year but I'm pretty sure we went a rather convoluted way. Do you bus it or drive?

Vbus, agree, it can be offputting thinking about crowds in this heat. We had a fabulous day today, met an old friend and her ds who live a bit further out in Surrey, they got the little ferry over from Ham and we spent two hours in the play park which is nice and shady, including a picnic. Following which we went for a walk then squashed in the car for an afternoon in the paddling pool chez moi. I dropped them back to Ham at the end of the day and now everyone is in bed exhausted!

Can't believe the forecast is for showers tomorrow, grrrrr.

pcworld · 19/08/2009 20:15

SFX, lol at "slightly burnt and full of icecream" - sounds like you had a blast!

slng · 19/08/2009 21:48

Hello!

We had quite a nice time too, though I had to take DS1 in to the office. We had lunch at a cafe and ice cream featured in the menu ... Then we visited a friend and DS1 gets on very well with her DD. Quite exhausted now though, having driven about 30 miles in the hot sun ... Won't mind if it does rain tomorrow, but don't think it will.

tillyfernackerpants · 20/08/2009 06:24

Looking at the weather it seems we might get rain tomorrow!

PCW, every time we go we use a different entrance! But I think I found the best one yesterday. You turn right at some traffic lights (before Edensor Road), then left at the end of that road & that brings you into the Bowls club where you can park, then just follow the path around. I tend to drive, its 2 buses otherwise & a bit of a hike from the train station for ds1

sfx, Sheen rec sounds nice. I think anywhere that had water yesterday was mobbed!

slng · 20/08/2009 08:07

Good morning!

Superhealthy breakfast done! But only fruits, so I guess some carbohydrate and fat is in order before we go out for the day ... It doesn't look like raining at all! We are visiting friends and then perhaps some indoor play area.

Have to resist posting on some threads. Can't believe there are people who would trust other people to do things for them like looking for childcare! Best sit on my hands...

Have promised to let kids watch things on the computer so better get off now!

slng · 20/08/2009 08:08

Tilly - Dukes meadow sounds nice. We must try it one day. DS1 went to so many more places with the CM, and she doesn't even have a car! We are too lazy ...

sfxmum · 20/08/2009 08:28

good morning it does look as if we will escape rain or most of it anyway

slng step away from the thread although sometimes I amuse myself by creating outrage, childish I know

pcW what ferry is that? sounds interesting shame a about parking ticket

tilly Sheen Rec is an odd place but useful, looks very inner city (for Richmond) with graffiti and slightly worn out playground equipment
the users are a mixture of Boden mums and local estate string vest heavily tatooed types

anyhow I probably will not even go running today as have to put in some work on essay am determined to finish today instead of usual last minute email.
was just to tired last night to do any work
