SFX, the little ferry runs across the river between Ham House and just to the left of the little playpark at Marble Hill. There are no set times, you just stand there and wait or wave your hands around wildly and then it comes

This morning we are off to a friend's house. This afternoon we now need to try and take it easy, the small people are getting tired after a busy, hot week. Although we do need to nip to the library, dd is doing the summer "quest" reading scheme and needs to talk about a book to the library staff every week for 6 weeks! We love the library although it is particularly hard work with ds running amok up and down the aisles!

slng · 20/08/2009 08:39

Programme finished!

sfx - am convinced talking about weather is favourite pasttime of all cultures. British peculiarity is discussing routes and traffic. "Go on the A111 and then the B222 and then the M333", "Ah but the M333 usually is a nightmare this time of the morning", "Personally I would always take the B444 and then the A555 and I won't touch the M666 with a barge pole" etc etc. Love it. Preamble to any meeting.

slng · 20/08/2009 08:39

Ferry! Sounds very interesting!

tillyfernackerpants · 20/08/2009 08:44

PCW, like the sound of the ferry! Ds1 is also doing that reading scheme, we're off later to do one of his books & to see a magic show!

slng · 20/08/2009 08:55

We've got one of those Quests things too but I can't figure out how it works.

sfxmum · 20/08/2009 10:06

not doing any quests but dd would gladly speak about favourite books for hrs
currently she likes the magic paintbrush and this still will not brush her hair

thanks for info pcW sounds good

slng yes traffic route obsession seems quite British

we stayed home resting this afternoon

niece did well with exams, apparently and got her uni place secured.

also Richmond council offer adult courses teaching how to ride a bike hurrah! seems that group courses are done for this year but they do one to one, must find out the details

hope everyone is well and dry, have not noticed rain

essay going well should be done by tonight

Hello all! Had very nice day at friend's. Then went to Whitton sports centre where there is a soft play area. Now home finally and kids playing happily under table.

tillyfernackerpants · 20/08/2009 18:19

hi all,

sfx, well done to your niece!

Quiet day for us, went to the library for ds1's first magic show, was very good actually! Then just chilled out a home doing a bit of clearing up etc.

Hello all

Sounds like everyone having fun in the sun

PCW - you went on ferry. I always wanted to go when living in Twicks but the man never seemed to be there when we were about. Was most jealous of Dh who went on it once as ferry was there one time when he was walking past!

Had a fabby day out at the Look out near Bracknell yesterday, it was brill. Great outdoor play/picnic area and then a science bit indoors which was heaps better than Science musuem for the DC's. DS1 did not want to leave despite being there ALL day.

I also had a great night out in London last night for a friend's leaving do. It was v.exciting getting train, and as I was a bit early, I had nosy down Carnaby st shops before going to groovy bar. Felt like I'd entered a new planet

V. tired today so just chilling out

sfxmum · 21/08/2009 16:34

not much sun enjoyment here vbus, decided to sit child in front of chitty chitty bang bang and finish essay, took longer that expected, given the time and care I spent on this one it will likely be my worst

anyway went out briefly to feed cats and pick up some shopping

vbus your trip sound really good where is that place?

sfxmum · 21/08/2009 16:44

Hi all,

sfx, well done on the essay! I started mine last night but didn't get very far. I do wonder sometimes if it would be better if we had deadlines rather than just hand it in when you've finished

vbus, sounds like a lovely day, might try that place one weekend

We've had our usual Friday - park & toy library, always tires both boys out. Slightly worrying though, ds1 had a sting on Weds & he still seems to be having a reaction to it. Called NHS Direct but they don't seem overly concerned. Might take him down to the chemist when dh gets home

vbus · 21/08/2009 18:20

Sfx - well done on getting essay done and well done to your niece, she must be well chuffed

Tilly - place is open at wkends, outdoor bit is free, pretty much next to Coral Reef place. Will deffo be going back there. good luck for your essay. Try giving DS some antihistamine and see if that helps

DH going to take DS1 to car musuem and Concorde visit tom, they are both v.excited!

sfxmum · 21/08/2009 19:30

tilly I definitely need deadlines, unless it is my own project iyswim
get on do it you will feel better for it
now only have the end of course thing to do which is 50% of total mark
next course starts in October bit more intense runs to next June

can't help with ds's sting sorry hope it improves without complications

vbus nothing like share geekness

we are planning on a family day tomorrow then Sunday will have to entertain child away from home as dh has project to work on
probably library and Kew I expect

Off on hols tomorrow! When do I start packing?

tillyfernackerpants · 22/08/2009 07:18

slng, hope you got up at 5am to start packing! Have a lovely holiday!

Vbus, ah I know where it is. Thought Coral Reef was a bit rubbish when we went there! I remember passing the museum though

Big excitement today, ds1 has got his first bike so we're off to the park. He hasn't seen it yet though, can't wait to see his face when we get it out for him

sfxmum · 22/08/2009 09:25

slng have a lovely holiday

tilly that is fantastic e ds has lots of fun

we are off to try and catch a boat to sail down the river

OP posts:
vbus · 22/08/2009 09:59

Slng - have a fab holiday!

Tilly - that sounds great fun, bet DS1 will love it. Never been to Coral Reef, just always remember passing it on our way to Wales!

Sfx - enjoy boat trip, sounds nice. is that to Hampton?

I'm looking fwd to my day with DS2. Will head out for a long walk soon

sfxmum · 24/08/2009 18:26

hello all

vbus nice to see you earlier

dd's dolly has chickenpox! apparently and needs a rest and really should not have gone out at all

hope everyone is well

OP posts:
vbus · 24/08/2009 19:30

Nice to see you too Sfx. DS1 said he enjoyed playing with miniSfx and told DH all about their antics

Where is everyone else? Busy enjoying the sunshine I hope

Can't believe it is the last week of preschool EVER!

vbus · 24/08/2009 19:43

LOL at chickenpox, poor dolly

tillyfernackerpants · 24/08/2009 20:10

Ds1 finishes nursery tomorrow as well

sfx, poor dolly, I hope she gets better soon!

tillyfernackerpants · 25/08/2009 13:22

Well that's it, ds1 finished at nursery! He got loads of presents from them plus a folder which has a few photos & all the observation reports etc. Am a bit that I got quite upset about it when I got home!
