Hello!

Where is everyone?

It's work work work here. A bit bored now ...

sfxmum · 10/08/2009 17:05

I think there are a few on holiday too

we went to the playground then late to Kew
apparently Jack Black has been seen around there with his children

dd is a pink flamingo today
this face painting availability is getting expensive

OP posts:
slng · 10/08/2009 17:34

We went to Northala Fields and ran about for an hour between rains. Very nice. (And free .)

slng · 10/08/2009 17:38

Can you make creme caramel in cup cake tins?

pcworld · 10/08/2009 19:07

Sing - why not! I make it in the little espresso cups, they make perfect little moulds. Where is Northala Fields, nr Northfields? Free = good and also running around in the rain = good! Like your style

SFX, we are getting Kew withdrawal symptoms over here! DS is getting over the pox very well and so we can now go out, but unfortunately he had some weird vomiting thing yesterday. I think we are back to "normal" now. Had one of dd's mini friends over for most of the day which was fun. Am hoping to be out tomorrow though, and IF the weather is nice then deffo the Gdns.

Tilly, how was the Sky Ride? I was all for seeing if you guys wanted to pop in for refreshments en route but then ds went and vomited a lot several times which put paid to any social plans.

We watched Quantum of Solace on Sat night - a major let-down, I have to say.

Does anyone fancy Greenacres Cafe soon?

slng · 10/08/2009 19:41

pcworld - am trying to visualise how to extract pudding from mold. Picture all 6 falling out and nothing to catch the other five ... That is, if they come out at all. Never made it before but it sounds easy .

slng · 10/08/2009 19:45

Northala near northolt, next to Target roundabout on A40. Slightly spooky landscape but 4 hills, lakes, 2 playgrounds and plenty of grass to run on. Good exercise for all the family!

sfxmum · 11/08/2009 12:11

hello all

pcW am unlikely to go today as have teens visiting and dd will be tired due to lack of sleep so will stay close to home

dd at nursery 4miles done.
will probably be buying some of the uniform today

vbus · 11/08/2009 19:25

Hi all

Hope everyone well.
KC - how do you feel after the infusion?

We've been out and about making the most of this lovely weather! DS1 seemed to enjoy going back to preschool. He did well on day out with zero accidents despite all the fun going on, yay. DS2 is 9mth old

slng · 11/08/2009 19:50

Hello! How is everybody?

vbus - well-done DS1! Sometimes they do forget about the more mundane business of going to the toilet when there are more important things going on!

Very nearly forgot about uniform and shoes ... Must put it in diary to do it last minute!

Am waiting for 24 cloves of garlic to stew in olive oil for dinner. No vampires tonight!

sfxmum · 11/08/2009 22:37

vbus - well done ds1 am sure it will carry on

dd was entertained by cousins all afternoon, it was relaxing for me

weather seems confused thought it was second summer week

OP posts:
slng · 12/08/2009 09:50

Good morning!

Heading in to town to get a haircut and possibly try to get a short floral skirt, which apparently they don't do anymore. All there is is the maxi dress ... If I want to wear a bedsheet and trip over myself all the time I would wear a bedsheet which I have in abundance. I WANT A SHORT SKIRT!

(No disrespect to maxi dresses. I like a long dress myself, but I find it incompatible with children ...)

sfxmum · 12/08/2009 10:11

speaking of maxi dresses saw lots of uncomfortable looking women being all bohemian like at the Festival made me laugh and point

good morning just trying to study here
and popped to shop for uniform and things in dd's size are scarce

OP posts:
vbus · 12/08/2009 10:22

Morning

I like the maxi dress but couldn't wear one myself as it would swamp me, plus I agree not v.practical are they? LOL at thought of wearing one to fest!

Good luck for uniform buying, has the bunfight started at the shops?

Slng - nice short skirts in Benetton

I was impressed with DS1 given we left house at 9am and got back at 8pm. Next phase is to try and get him comfortable going to toilet without parents about. Yesterday he said he hadn't gone to toilet at preschool, (didn't have accident either he just has good bladder control). Today he's staying for lunch so we'll see what happens. Which means I have all morning to sort out the house, yippee

sfxmum · 12/08/2009 10:29

slng you should be able to find short floral skirts it is a key autumn trend I believe

vbus that is great dd would not go at pre school unless prompted by teachers, but now she is doing it all herself like wiping her bottom
I DO IT GO AWAY OUT OUT

OP posts:
vbus · 12/08/2009 10:36

Well done minisfx. I did wonder when they did that by themselves and said those words, can't wait!

sfxmum · 12/08/2009 10:46

I mean she does her best sometimes she does need help of course very diplomatically given

about PE kits - question please what is the norm? plimsolls track suit bottoms/ shorts and what for tops? TIA

OP posts:
pcworld · 12/08/2009 13:45

I would just like some nice clothes, full stop! Been at Kew this morning, went to C&C for 15 mins just for the face painting and it was choc full of uber-trendy mums - and me lol!

SFX re: PE kit, it is usually a short-sleeved white polo shirt or similar, I think? We had aertex shirts when I was at school {ancient emoticon} - I'm sure it will be your uniform list somewhere. All this has reminded me to remind myself in a couple of weeks that we still need black school shoes. dd is eating like a horse, she will be in age 6-7 soon at this rate (she is not yet 5!)

Vbus, congrats on the toilet training, what a relief to get it out of the way. ds will get used to going at school in the fulness of time, it took dd a little while to get there.

vbus · 12/08/2009 15:22

can't help with PE kit but can someone please remind me where to get labels from?

slng · 12/08/2009 15:46

Hello!

vbus - did get heavily discounted floral skirt in Benetton. And lots of tops from uniqlo...

pcworld - I get skirts I like, and tops I like, but they don't tend to go together!

sfx - our PE kit is white t-shirt + black shorts + black plimsolls. Though having been to the sports day I would say that is generally treated as a suggestion/guideline rather than the rule ... Parents/kids/teacher of the school don't seem to be too fussed about uniformity of uniform ...

About going to toilet in school, I made it a point to take DS1 to see the toilets when visiting. Also did the same before starting nursery. DS2 goes to the toilet on his own quite quickly (but he is exceptionally in touch with his bladder for a boy, I think ). DS1 took a bit longer but it was never too much of an issue ...

sfxmum · 12/08/2009 16:12

I always get stuff from Uniqlo, the jeans fit me well and the zip hoodie things are great as are all the different colour basic tops

labels

we have been lazy this afternoon painting and watching the Golden Compass bit too scary for dd in parts
