Hi

Was wondering if any one else would like to get together one day and have a chat?

The more the merrier, everyone is always saying what is there for children to do, personally i hate going to soft play, swimming etc on my own. Think it may be an idea?

any one else with a suggestion?

x

I am up for getting together sometime for coffee and a chat.... anyone else? There must be more Glasgow Mums out there....

pingviner · 11/05/2009 18:54

outing self as a glasgow mum, would be interested!

wiggletastic · 12/05/2009 17:53

Excellent pingviner. Any other mums want to out themselves as weegies??? There must be more than three of us if Silverburn of a Tuesday afternoon is anything to go by. Hoaching with prams.....

Nyx · 22/05/2009 08:31

I'm a glasgow mum too

I'm in the west end (whiteinch); I don't have a car though so can't travel too far. Where are you all?

mumtoobe · 28/05/2009 17:43

Hiya, I'm a new mum in Dennistoun. Any other Eastenders on here?
Would love to meet up with other mums with babies, especially breastfeeders. I'm a bit shy about getting my pap out in a public place on my own.

poppeto · 31/05/2009 19:57

Hi, I'm a Glasgow mum too. South-sider though, but would still like to meet up if anyone is still interested.

Would a city-centre location be best? Not sure where's child friendly...the Lighthouse maybe?? If not, on the south-side the Tramway is good - and it has a nice garden and outside seats, just in case the weather's still nice.

Weegiemum · 31/05/2009 20:11

Hi there! Clearly I am a weegie!

Tramway is a great suggestion (also a southsider) but happy to travel. Until the summer hols I am unencumbered with kids (all in school) and happy to come along and cuddle other people's babies! After the end of June I come as a job lot with a 5, 7, and 9 year old!

In fact West end suits as kids are at the Gaelic school in Berkely St so could do a meet and then pick them up from school.

I've tried to get to a couple of Scottish meets and always had a problem with it - chickenpox, me in hospital etc .....

poppeto · 31/05/2009 22:10

the tramway's good for me, because it's only a two minute walk away, but I have a car and the buses are up and down Vicky Road fairly frequently, so happy to travel...

anyone want to suggest a date and a venue??

Nyx · 31/05/2009 22:26

Well, either a weekend or a Monday or a Friday for me (I work the other 3 days). Mind you, I'm off this week

As for venue, obviously as I'm in the west end that would be good for me - there's Cottiers for example? Or I'm happy to go to the south side; haven't been to the Tramway but it sounds just right!

Mumtoobe, I've not got a baby any more (dd is 3 - where has the time gone??) but I did bf so know how you feel

PacificDogwood · 31/05/2009 22:34

Used to be a Glasgow mum - now Lanarkshire (or very extreme East End?): please may I come too ?

I am flexible as fas as the venue goes but could only manage a Monday on a weekday.

Also, on second thoughts, might be too scared to meet you all in RL !

Off to bed now, but will check on verdict tomorrow.

wiggletastic · 01/06/2009 11:12

Oooh, lots more Glasgow mummies, excellent. Monday seems to be a good day for most and that suits me as I am still on mat leave. I am southside but can travel so anywhere is ok really. Tramway is good and very mummy/baby friendly. It has a lovely cafe and tables outside in the gardens if its a nice day.

Weegiemum · 01/06/2009 11:20

Tramway is shut on a Monday!

wiggletastic · 01/06/2009 11:57

No! Thats a bit poo.

West End maybe to suit Nyx as she has no transport? What about park if its a nice day or Beanscene opposite Kelvingrove? Main problem round there is parking. Any other suggestions?

pingviner · 01/06/2009 12:14

am up for anything in the west end, beanscene etc as suggested, but only in the next two weeks (have to go back to work )

poppeto · 01/06/2009 14:08

Mondays and west-end are fine for me.

Do you want to make it either 8th or 15th so pingviner can come along?

There must be loads of places to go in the west-end, but I'm really struggling to think of any...what about the art gallery itself? would that make parking easier?

poppeto · 01/06/2009 14:21

meant to add as well, mumtobe, I have a baby and I'm still breast-feeding. She's a very curious 21week old, so when we're out, I'm now very used to trying to feed her, while she decides she wants to look at everything else apart from me!

pingviner · 01/06/2009 14:26

would be around on the 8th definately
and also BF mumtobe so you would have lots of company
the art gallery is very child friendly and a good idea
cottiers was mentioned might also be good if this weather lasts and is spacious - but parking even worse

wiggletastic · 01/06/2009 16:25

8th good for me too. The Art Gallery is a good idea as has a nice cafe and loads of space for small people to run around. Also the park and play area are nearby if its a sunny day. Morning or afternoon?

midnightexpress · 01/06/2009 16:30

Hello weegies! We have a scottish thread in meetups here, but it's gone very quiet recently - there are quite a few of us and we've had meet-ups, but not for ages as lots of us are back at work after mat leave(s). Including me, so had better resist temptation of cakes at the Tramway.

  • weegiemum would love to talk to you about the gaelic school some time - can I cat you?
midnightexpress · 01/06/2009 16:32

Oh, and, just to say, the cafe in Pollok House does Very Good Scones and has tables outside in an enclosed garden.

midnightexpress · 01/06/2009 16:34

and (I promise I'll shut up in a minute) Wiggletastic, whereabouts are you in the southside?

wiggletastic · 01/06/2009 16:55

Hi midnightexpress, I didn't know there was a meet-ups topic. Will have a look. Oh, and I am in Crookston.

Agree, Pollok House scones are yum!

soulsu · 01/06/2009 19:53

Hi I would love a meet up but currently working full time, so if you happen to make it the weekend I'll be there. Otherwise, maybe I could make the next one when I will be off on maternity leave, only 11 weeks to go! I'm also a southsider.

poppeto · 01/06/2009 20:58

Morning is probably a bit better for me...would Monday 8th at 11.00 in the Art Gallery be ok for everyone?

wiggletastic · 01/06/2009 21:25

That's good for me.

Just wondering about the 'etiquette' for a MN meet-up. Never been to one before. Is it the 'done thing' to out yourself or are we all going incognito? I'm not too bothered either way...
