Hi

Was wondering if any one else would like to get together one day and have a chat?

The more the merrier, everyone is always saying what is there for children to do, personally i hate going to soft play, swimming etc on my own. Think it may be an idea?

any one else with a suggestion?

x

Ah, slight problem then. We often have a picnic after and indulge in the cakes from the cafe. I have even been known to make cakes and bring them along.

RedHairedGirlie · 05/06/2009 17:06

I think I may try and make Monday morning (good practice for getting out of the house early ) as baby massage is not until 2pm. Where abouts is the meeting point at Kelvingrove? I should be easy to spot - red haired girly with pram .

RedHairedGirlie · 05/06/2009 17:10

hee hee... I guess if I am exercising then it kind of justifies having maybe a small cake every now and again (.. I am just about to take from my fridge the last pineabpple cup cake - the other 3 didn't survivie very long either ..)

wiggletastic · 05/06/2009 17:35

Meeting inside the museum at the info desk. See you there!

shootfromthehip · 05/06/2009 17:38

Hello there- am no longer a Glasgow mummy- moved to the arse crack of nowhere about 4 yrs ago but wanted to mention the 'petting zoo' at Tollcross park. It's free (or was 4 yrs ago) and easy to get to by bus and there is a nice cafe in the grounds of the park with a soft play area too. As a former Dennistoun mum it was a favourite with me and my group of NCT mummies at the time.

We also used to meet in the cafe at WASPS on Alexandra Parade (near the hospital) and that was nice with a big enclosed area for the more mobile to run about in and comfy couches for the less mobile. Just hought I'd mention it.

Wish I was meeting you all at Kelvingrove but instead I'll be wandering about the fields with my wellies on

mumtoobe · 05/06/2009 20:22

Hi girls,
My Helath Visitor is now coming Monday morning so not sure if I'll make it to Kelvingrove. :-(
She's going to try and come early so I may make a dash for it when she leaves and look out for you inside the museum.

wiggletastic · 07/06/2009 20:06

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow girls. Hope you can make it mumtoobe, we will probably be hanging out at the cafe for a while eating cake.

weegiemum · 07/06/2009 20:59

Urghle - just this evening realised I can't come - just realised kids are on Inset day tomorrow and it is just now I realised it is happening! I have a Higher exam markers meeting at 1.30 so no time to come over, have coffee, go home, wait for babysitter (all my kids are at school so it is harder to get someone!) get back into town. Sorry!

Hope you have a lovely time and I will get to the next one, promise!

RedHairedGirlie · 07/06/2009 22:49

I totally forgot that tomorrow I have my health visitor popping by in the morning for the EPDS assessment thingy.. hopefully she will come early and I can head over..

BexieID · 07/06/2009 22:59

I have a midwife coming out to me sometime tomorrow am, so won't be able to join you. Kelvingrove is only about a 30 min drive from Dumbarton, so would have been very handy.

PacificDogwood · 07/06/2009 23:03

Will you still be there @ 12 noon as I cannot make it earlier than that?
Have fun.

Nyx · 07/06/2009 23:11

I'm still hoping to be able to come. I should be on time

As long as I don't chicken out at the last minute! Nobody else will have a toddler then, no?

See you tomorrow then

wiggletastic · 08/06/2009 07:40

Oh no, I'm beginning to think it will be just me. Oh well, over there is different from here and I can scoff coffee and cake anywhere. Hopefully see some of you later.

I'm sure I/we will still be in the cafe at 12 pacific if you manage to make it along.

pingviner · 08/06/2009 09:57

I am sadly having to cry off- we were away for the weekend and now have woken up with a spotty, grouchy, coughing baby. Am off to doctors now, it doesnt seem serious but I dont want to spread it round MN babies
and spotty emoticon

Nyx · 08/06/2009 10:44

Well I'm leaving the house now so hopefully will see somebody there. Sorry about your spotty baby pingviner

geordieminx · 08/06/2009 12:02

Dogwood - where abouts are you - I'm in Lanarkshire too.

mumtoobe · 08/06/2009 14:41

Sorry I didn't make it girls. My 4 week old was weighed by HV and hadn't put any on so we had to go to the doctors to get things checked out. She seems to be fine but looks like I shall be confined to the nursing chair for the next wee while till I can figure out what's wrong. Hope you weren't the only one there Nyx x

poppeto · 08/06/2009 19:48

Hi everyone

I was just coming on to apologise for not making it along today, but it seems I wasn't the only one. I hope your wee ones are ok pingviner and mumtobe.

I was all set to leave the house this morning and then something strange happened...my dd went down for a 2 hour nap! this is practically unheard of for her - she is the queen of the catnaps - and since I've been trying to get her to sleep longer during the day, I just couldn't bring myself to wake her. By the time she woke up, I was too worried that everyone would either have left, or would have blended into all the other mums that no doubt would have been in the cafe, and I wouldn't know which group to ask first. (I'm a big scaredy-cat and didn't want to have to ask loads of folk!)

sorry anyway, I hope it went well for anyone that did turn up. I would be interested in meeting up again if anyone wanted to?

wiggletastic · 08/06/2009 20:08

Well we managed a meet-up of three! It was lovely to see you nyx and redhairedgirlie and your gorgeous little DDs.

Hopefully a few more can make it along next time. Any suggestions for time/date/place?

Nyx · 08/06/2009 20:43

Yes, three's a good number to start with I thought DD enjoyed it too, she does like babies. I was a bit distracted, sorry wiggle and redhairedgirlie, i had to rush off every few minutes to find her...story of my life atm!

Well, hopefully we can do it again and maybe meet more folk too. Pingviner and mumtobe - I hope your little ones are ok too. Fantastic on the 2 hour nap, poppeto, hopefully she'll do it again tomorrow!

Again, I'm happy to meet up any weekend or Monday or Friday. Happy to meet anywhere that's suitable for a wandering-off type of 3 year old, that someone can point me to the relevant public transport for!

PacificDogwood · 08/06/2009 20:50

Well done, to those 3 who made it! Maybe this could turn out to have been the first meeting with more to follow ?

geordie, hi, I live near Hamilton. Just looked at your profile, your son is gorgeous, and you are about 200 years younger than I am, LOL! Whereabouts are you?

Nyx · 08/06/2009 21:02

I am sure we will meet again (don't know where, don't know whennnn....ahem, sorry, don't know what came over me) - hopefully we'll be able to meet you next time

geordieminx · 08/06/2009 21:03

Hiya Dogwood.

Thank you for the compliments

I'm in uddingston, have ds who is 2, and am a SAHM just now.

How old are yours?

PacificDogwood · 08/06/2009 21:13

Mine are 6,5, and 14 months old, all boys.

And, spookily, I live in Uddingston, too... Did not dare to out myself earlier . I work 4 days a week.

prettybird · 09/06/2009 10:15

Well, I saw you but you wouldn't have seen me! Ended up coming across at about 12.30 with dh and ds to go to the Doctor Who exhibition - but made a point of looking at the coffee bar as we tried to find the exhibition (cunningly hidden and non-signposted). Saw 3 women with young kids - one of whom had the most gorgeous red/auburn, so I presume it was you lot . ds was in too much of a rush for me to stop - and you'd gone by the time we got back upstairs.

So if you noticed a lady in white trousers, aqua-blue T-shirt and pink cardigan staring at you as she walked past with an excited 8 year old boy - that was me!
