Hi, how is everyone today? We had a short run around at Kew this morning which was lovely. dh off work tomorrow so it will be a nice, long weekend.

Ros & SFX - how is the training going? Ros (SORRY: Tilly!!) - how is ds taking to food?

SFX, are you planning your next holiday?

pcworld · 14/05/2009 14:29

Ohhhh ... whoops - I accidentally just won something on ebay. DH will kill me! Anybody else ever done that?

sfxmum · 14/05/2009 14:41

pcW dd has been missing Kew asked me if we could go over sometime soon but the weather does not look inviting

about holiday not sure maybe at the end of the Summer before school starts
training ok thanks but was very slow this morning

OP posts:
sfxmum · 14/05/2009 14:43

mygreatauntgriselda · 14/05/2009 17:50

PC/SFX thanks for writing to richmond - everyone else, just checked and deadline is extended, so please, please write!!!

PC yes I accidentally won two bags instead of one. Really wanted the bags so bid on both and went to bed, not think I would get either. Woke up to find I had one two lovely leather bags, same bag one blue and one brown. I just thought, Oh well, I will have two bags now - what is there not to like about that? lol!!

How much was the item you accidentally won

My bags were £49 each so quite painful, but I just swallowed it and resolved not to be so daft next time

ComeOVeneer · 14/05/2009 18:21

Mad here atm. Did a retro split screen VW campervan birthday cake and a tier of VW cupcakes for a 40th birthday last week and this week am crazy with plans for May fair at school on Saturday.

DS has got a place off the waiting list for 1st choice school for sept so am thrilled they will both be at the schools of our choice. Just need to pull back from the pta stuff (hope my chair replacement doesn't back down now I am going to still be around), so the business can have a chance of taking off.

Hope everyone is well. Can't keep up with this thread any more, but am looking forward to seeing some of you on the 22nd (is that the right date?), so fill me in then.

Also would love to get together day time over the summer holidays to keep kids entertained.

Mygreataunt, I received your email and text today but have (a) been so busy and (b) wasn't sure if being so far from Richmond my input would be counted, but if you think it would help I will do it later this eveing. Is it to the email you sent it from or another address?

mellow2 · 14/05/2009 18:21

Sfx,

Selling stuff on E-bay is not without its risks as you're forced to use Paypal for payment as a new member. I've just had a 3rd party access my Paypal account and debit £150 from my credit card allegedly for a purchase to be delivered to someone in Kenya. It took 2 weeks for Paypal to refund the money but it was still a scary 2 weeks for me.

slng · 14/05/2009 20:37

Hello!

Am taking a break from marking exam papers. This time of the night.

Never bought anything from ebay. The very efficient craft suplliers asked for payment by bank transfer - money arrives in 2 hours and goods dispatched and done.

CoV - VW cakes! [impressed] DH has a VW campervan Haynes manual T-shirt. Does that count?

Back to work ...

SJ99 · 14/05/2009 20:40

Mellow - eek that sounds nasty, glad you got your money back though.

PCW - eek also, was it expensive?!

Auntie - email sent

DS2 pox is thankfully mild. Going to enlist my bro's help on Sat to see if he can take DS1 out for a few hrs, should give me a little break of sorts.

When I was in the kitchen DS1 scribbled all over DS2's completed passport application form today He climbed up on a chair and got it down from the shelf where I thought it would be safe I need more eyes in the back of my head

slng · 14/05/2009 21:26

Enough exam marking!

Now for supper: instant noodles, peanut butter on toast, or boiled egg with asparagus soldiers?

Might go for pb on toast and chocolate milk ...

sfxmum · 14/05/2009 21:58

asparagus and egg of course

OP posts:
slng · 14/05/2009 22:08

Actually had asparagus and egg and toast and milk. Not a light weight, me.

mygreatauntgriselda · 15/05/2009 08:50

Thanks SJ for sendng e-mail

CoV - dealine for e-mails comments to Richmond has been extended - yes PLEASE DO send an e-mal. Just say you use the caf, doesn't matter where you live. My friend in Ealing sent one

Many thanks - gotta go to work now

sfxmum · 15/05/2009 10:02

good morning all

slng that sounds like a fine supper

seems nursery are getting all strange about this swine flu business
apparently a cleaner at the nursery also works at a nursery/school which has been closed as a precautionary measure.
it sounds tenuous and slightly alarmist but maybe just out to placate any over reacting parents

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 15/05/2009 11:13

Morning all.

sfx - re nursery, is this the reason for cancelling the open day tomorrow? Ah well, it's better safe than sorry, I suppose. Did you notice pre-school room is v understaffed and K is a bit stressed?

DS is having a MMR booster tomorrow, hope it goes OK.

sfxmum · 15/05/2009 12:05

yes sushi that is why and there is all the alcohol rubs and the no toothbrush allowed too.
I suppose it will all die down over the summer then perk up again when winter comes.

hope jab goes well, have not given dd her booster yet

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 15/05/2009 15:49

He's due for his preschool jab, too but I'm not going to give him till next month.

The sun is out, yay!

AnotherMuesliPleaseBarman · 15/05/2009 16:28

Hello there,

Auntie - have sent message of support for the fab cafe (and encouraged friend who lives around the corner from there to do the same).

SJ - sorry to hear about CP traumas. Hope all clears up soon. at passport application . Hope it's salvageable. Am about to post mine off too (having realised that, sadly, babies fare no better than the rest of us when it comes to unflattering passport photos...) By the way, were you in Kingston at about midday today? Could have sworn I walked past you!

Mellow - v interesting re Ebay selling story. I was gearing up to work out how to sell stuff as have lots of things I'd like to get rid of. Will be extra careful..

Did 'win' a Rainforest Jumperoo recently, though didn't feel much like a win afterwards, as paid more than I'd hoped to. Must try harder to suppress unhelpful competitive streak when bidding!

COV - V impressed with retro cake!

Planning to pop into work on Monday to show off DS to colleagues I haven't seen for 6 months. Will also be first foray into 'central London' with baby. Feel excited but, for some reason, slightly nervous - about going into work, that is, not central London.

Also trying to figure out best way of bathing DS now. He seems uncomfortable in his tummy tub, but the various bath 'supports' in the shops seem a bit short for him. He's grown loads longer recently, but he can't sit up on his own yet. Ponder, ponder...

slng · 15/05/2009 16:45

Hello!

DS1's new passport arrived today! Just one week! Must be some anomaly. He does look super grumpy in his passport photo.

Museli - we just plonked LOs in baby bath and held on to them ... Now pondering what to do with redundant baby bath. Having just nearly bashed my thumb making holes in the potty to plant flowers I'm having second thoughts about making it into a herb garden ...

AnotherMuesliPleaseBarman · 15/05/2009 16:51

have you tried a drill?

slng · 15/05/2009 17:27

I know I should but I'm scared of drills .

SJ99 · 16/05/2009 11:18

Slng - I would've done the drilling for you

museli - yes that was me, decided to take a stroll while DS2 sleeping and before I went to collect DS2, his preschool is 10min walk from Kingston. Helped relive the boredom/insanity as have been in all week aside from school run. Sorry I didn't see you, must've been walking round in daze

As for bath, I did the holding in baby bath, but found the bath support invaluable as had me hands free to help with DS2. We're now using this we had it from DS1 bath days.

SFX - preschool also issued a letter about swine flu, they said they had to follow procedure since a school in Hampton had to be closed but they weren't overly concerned

Pox victim not suffering too much despite lots of spots

Hope everyone having a nice weekend.

SJ99 · 16/05/2009 11:19

relieve

sfxmum · 16/05/2009 13:35

someone push me out of the door please....
oh but it looks like rain
