Mrs R house looks mahoosive!! Would it not be a problem living next to a pub? Would be very noisy and annoying

Kewcumber · 06/05/2009 13:59

funny MrsR - I looked at the NOrthiam one but decided it was probably too far out for you!

MrsRecycle · 06/05/2009 14:27

It is a very quiet village - we went to the park across the road and the teenagers were so well behaved, not a single swear word/bit of graffiti. The pub would be more of a local one and we are proposing asking to buy a bit of their land and we can put up some bushes to sheild the noise. Plus most weekends, we'd be at the caravan. Apparently, come 7pm in the evening there is no through traffic so it would only be locals using it.

We discounted Northiam initially on that basis Kew, then found out 2 other families from the site now live there so we'd have some friends already in the area. I've also found that commuting to London (if I have to!) would be a bit quicker than Rye so another plus.

Kewcumber · 06/05/2009 15:15

and I liked it too so thats settled then...

SushiMummy · 06/05/2009 16:01

Hi all. Hope everyone is well.

MrsR - love those houses, lovely gardens!

Do nursery/preschool children invite each other to their house to play? I have had a few requests by pre-schoolers to ask if s/he can come to our house to play. Obviously, I don't want to have them after nursery (too late) but am happy to accommodate a playdate for them at weekend. Any thoughts on this? I thought this is more a school age children thing...

MrsRecycle · 06/05/2009 17:46

Ok settled then Kew - just have to get dh round to it. But as he said, he didn't fall for our current house, just recognized the potential.

Sushi - I always thought play dates started when you could leave them on their own and have a few hours shopping, around 6 in my experience.

SJ99 · 06/05/2009 19:25

Hello all

Hope everyone well
I'm exhausted!

Auntie - well done on fund raiser, it's sad for P's siblings and what they had to suffer

MrsR - houses look lovely, fingers crossed you get the one you want

Sushi - when I have a playdate I expect the parent to stay too, company for me but also they're bit young to be left to their own devices esp if it's a child you don't know well/who's never been to your house before

slng · 06/05/2009 19:43

Sushi - we always have the parent (the mother, really) staying.

MrsR - so which house is it? I'd certainly choose the same option. Mortgage-free! again!

mygreatauntgriselda · 06/05/2009 20:42

Sushi - when they are little (under 4/5?) a playdate normaly involves their Mum staying for coffeee too, so best be avoided unless you like her too
After about 5, you only have to entertain the child, so not so bad

MrsRecycle · 06/05/2009 21:36

Slng it's the last one in Northiam. Kew - thanks for your powers of persuasion - dh has agreed we can make an offer on it!

Kewcumber · 06/05/2009 22:58

glad the vibes worked MrsR.

Sushi - I don't expect anyone to invite themselves to my house. IF they want to be sociable I expect them to invite me to theirs first, then I recipsocate. Obviously if I want to be sociable (unlikely) then I invite them to mine first.

Isn't that the way it works or am I unusually formal in these matters?

slng · 07/05/2009 08:11

Good morning!

Kew - that's the way it works, as far as I'm concerned too.

Must go pack posh sandwiches for DS1's lunch and mine!

SushiMummy · 07/05/2009 09:21

Good morning.

Thanks for your advice on playdates. I have met some of the parents at birthday parties and they all seem nice so I don't mind having them at mine for coffee, but not all of them at once for obvious reasons. Maybe it's a phase at nursery, it's only recently that kids started asking parents if they can come to so-and-so's house to play. I bet they'll forget about this in a few weeks. I was a little taken aback when kids came running towards me asking 'can I come to R's house to play?'

Kewcumber · 07/05/2009 09:22

just tell the little gits "no, bugger off"

Kewcumber · 07/05/2009 09:23

DS is at nursery with a little boy with japanese mum and british dad, I'm pretty sure its not you (do you have a clone in Kew?)

SushiMummy · 07/05/2009 09:32

KC - lol at your suggestion! My clone? I wish! My next door neighbour's boy goes to the same nursery as your DS, a little hungarian boy about a year younger than Gherkin-kun. How are you?

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/05/2009 14:42

Sushi - agree with Kew its very bizarre they have invited themselves round to your house. How rude lol

tillyfernackerpants · 08/05/2009 14:27

Hi all, just thought I'd pop on & see how everyone is doing! Not been on much as haven't been up to anything & there's only so much you can say about sleep deprivation, teething & nighttime potty training

PC, nice to see you this morning, ds1 has been asking when he can see your dcs again! WHich is funny considering he hardly noticed they were there this morning . Hope you feel better, I can recommend lots of chocolate!

MrsR, am of hopefully-soon-to-be-your house! Meant to say, we're off to Camber Sands at the end of August, is that anywhere near your caravan? And will you be there? Not that I want to stalk you or anything, but thought it might be nice to meet up if you were

MrsRecycle · 08/05/2009 14:44

HI TILLY! (just checking you're awake lol). Camber Sands is exactly where our caravan is. And if it's anywhere near 22nd August, you and your brood can come to ds' 3rd Birthday BBQ. So we'll definitely be there and it would be lovely to meet up with you.

slng · 08/05/2009 19:50

Hello! Nothing to report here either ...

When's my chilli con carne going to be ready?

mygreatauntgriselda · 09/05/2009 16:16

Oh am jealus now a I'll miss your DS's 3rd Birthday Mrs R!

Tily is that Sun break?

We've got one soon - yippeee!!

sfxmum · 09/05/2009 22:04

hello everyone just had a quick catch up

KC glad to see you have not contracted any more exotic life threatening medical rarities
you haven't? have you?

sushi dd has mentioned that too but I said NO, she keeps wanting to bring children home with her and they all seem agreeable to the idea

SJ glad to hear ds is ok

mrsR mortgage free soon good for you

tilly just a thought really how goes the training?

wave to slng and apologies if missing anyone

we had a nice week away eating far too many croissant and baguette, but you see dd insisted on going to the boulangerie every morning to practice her French

we all had dreadful colds and coughs but were determined to have a nice time, very tired now and quite a lot fatter

mellow2 · 10/05/2009 08:52

Sfx - Welcome home. Glad you had a nice week despite the colds.

It's been a chaotic 2 weeks for us. Dd went to stay with grandparents for a week and the new nanny is due to start tomorrow. Dh was pleased to have a child-free week but I missed dd horribly. Glad she's home. Will call you later today.

slng · 10/05/2009 17:35

Hello!

sfx - welcome back! Nice pics. DD very chic!

Mellow - no DD for a whole week! Cannot imagine that... Good luck with new nanny.

Planted out cucumber, tomato, sunflowers, kale, and leeks. And very mature peas - not sure you are supposed to transplant grown-up peas but we shall see ...

sfxmum · 10/05/2009 21:01

mellow hi thanks that sounds hard but am sure with its own advantages, best of luck with the nanny

slng thanks dd has her own style came home waving a French flag and shouting vive la France to the border police, bless guess she liked it

spent the day amazed at dd's energy while we struggle to keep awake and restore some order
