Hello!

sfx - compulsory to run to top of sand dunes and sing sound of music when on holiday

Museli - nursery with garden is a bonus. Ours have a garden which the kids are allowed to dig up. Makes for muddy but happy children. Chinese connection - am Malaysian Chinese! That's about it ... LOL at "Wine flu"! The wrath of grapes and all that.

SJ99 · 01/05/2009 13:24

Hello all

Sfx - have a fabby trip, hope journey goes well and involves lots more singing

museli - great news about nursery. hope you get some rest today

Slng - how's your new toy?

Chaos chez moi this morning. Had to take parents to airport bus early on. Then DS1 woke up with a few red spots this morning so had to get DH to take him to docs as I had to take DS2 for hospital appointment. Docs say not sure if it's pox, he said it looked more viral but to monitor over next few days. He seems ok otherwise...thought I'd mention it as he was with a few of your DC on Sunday. It may amount to nothing but thought best to warn you.

My neighbour has just brought round the biggest slab of choc cake, I love her!

mellow2 · 01/05/2009 13:43

sfx - Have a great trip.

Posting from work. I'm skiving as I can't read any more papers. Groan.

Hope everyone is well. Work is interesting other than having to read a mountain high pile of white papers, policy docs, etc.

mygreatauntgriselda · 01/05/2009 14:18

SFX where are you going again?

SJ hope spotty DS is OK

Hello!

SJ - hope DS is fine. There are lots of relatively harmless viral infections that give you spots ... BTW new toy is fab!

DS1 has just been told by his friends that his floral hat is for girls. We agree that his friends are narrow-minded but he'll wear the non-floral one (I did give him a choice and he preferred the floral one) in school as a concession to mob rule.

tillyfernackerpants · 02/05/2009 08:48

Sj, hope ds1 is ok

Sfx, have a good holiday . Just seen your fb post but who knows

Mum & dad are coming down today, think we're going to head over to the fair at Kew Green this afternoon. Just hope ds1 is more amenable to getting off the rides than he was last year

Kewcumber · 02/05/2009 12:29

Muesli -f you have dry sking try the oil cleansing method a coupleof times a week. I find I don;t need moisturiser afetrwards. ONly do it at night.

Mix about 85% cold pressed veg oil (extra virgin olive oil or sunflower oil both work) with 15% castor oil (very cheap from chemist) (castor oil is most cleansing so less if you are dry, more if your skin is oily).

massge into face particularly into areas of blackheads. Soak flannel in piping hot water and wrng out - place on face to steam, then do it again until you feel your pores are opened a bit, then using flannel gently wipe away oil refreshing flannel with hot water where necessary.

If traces of oil left at end rubn into face as moisturiser.

SJ99 · 03/05/2009 13:40

Hello all

DS1 has definitely got chicken pox Poor thing is pretty miserable with it and itching like mad but is being brave. DS2 and I are like sitting ducks . At least DH around for 3days to help out.

Sorry Tilly won't be able to meet this week

slng · 03/05/2009 18:50

Oh no SJ! Hope it's not too bad. DS1 had CP just before DS2 was born but it wasn't too bad at all, just a few spots. DS2 had it at 2 weeks old and didn't even notice it. Have you had it before?

We've been cycling a lot this weekend and I'm aching all over ...

slng · 04/05/2009 18:36

Hello! Where is everybody?

Back to school tomorrow

tillyfernackerpants · 05/05/2009 07:45

Hope everyone had a lovely bh

We went to the beach on Sunday, it was really nice, now have a large pile of rocks & shells in the garden! Ds1 had a great time fishing in the rock pools, made me wish we lived next to a beach!

Sj, sorry to hear about ds1. How is he? Don't worry about Weds, though tbh I would've brought ds1 round anyway for a little pox party . But don't want ds2 to catch it just yet!

SJ99 · 05/05/2009 08:44

hello

Thanks for concern. DS1 seems to be over the worst now, no new spots yesterday and he started playing again yesterday. If he's ok today, preschool said he can come back tom. He's v.self conscious though and now doesn't like getting undressed/bath as he doesn't like to see the spots Just so glad DH was around, not sure how I'd have coped otherwise.

Tilly sounds like lovely day, did you go to Brighton?

Slng - just think of all the exercise you'll have had, means you can eat more cake

tillyfernackerpants · 05/05/2009 15:08

sj, glad ds1 is getting better. We went to Littlehampton, lovely sandy beach & a bit quieter than Brighton I think

mygreatauntgriselda · 05/05/2009 19:03

Hi you lot

SFX have a fabby time

SJ how is your DS?

SJ99 · 05/05/2009 19:13

He seems ok now thanks Auntie, the worst of it was Fri-Mon over the BH typically! DS2 is teething so has also been unsettled.
Bring on the chocolate

Hope everyone else had a good weekend though

mygreatauntgriselda · 05/05/2009 19:16

That sounds lovely Tilly

I can feel a visit to the beach coming on, I've heard Littelhampton is lovely too

We had a busy weekend:

DS1 went for a sleepover, telling me he needed to take a sleeping bag, as they were planning to sleep in the woods with no grown ups . I asked the host Mum and she knew nothing about their plans but her son had told all his friends at school that they would be sleeping in the woods!!!

Volunteered at a fundraiser on Sunday and ended up spending the whole afternoon with Baby P's three older sisters, as DD made bestest friends with them all. They are so gorgeous it's made me feel a bit emotional, they have been through such traumas and the youngest has exactly the same face as Baby P

Went to see an old boyfriend in hospital who caught Cerebral TB last year. It made him go blind and he is now patalysed from the neck down (he has his sight back). We didn't part on good terms when we split all those years ago but I really feel for him now, he is only 53 and will spend the rest of his life in care. He was in a coma for several months last year.

Apparently it is suspected he contracted it 22 years ago in Indonesia. We lived together for 18 months after that, so need to check with GP whether it is possible to incubate it for all those years

Very interesting and lovely weekend but feeling slightly drained now

Has anyone seen ort heard from Steppy? I saw her 10 days ago - will tell her about the meet up and see if she is up to going out again yet

mygreatauntgriselda · 05/05/2009 19:17

Who said chocolate???

SJ glad top hear he is feeling a bit better, big ((hugs)) to him, cute boy xx

MrsRecycle · 05/05/2009 20:37

Hello everyone! Auntie that sounds a lovely afternoon - glad they are happy in spite of dreadful upbringing.

I've been so busy - work is still fun, the valuation was done on our house today so now we've got to find one in Rye. The good thing is dds and ds' school are all sorted for September, so one less stress. Yep, ds will be in rising 5s come September, in spite of my insistence otherwise. A beautiful school in Peasmarsh, dd2 said it was her dream to go there.

Right off to bed now, am shattered. Hope you are all well.

mygreatauntgriselda · 05/05/2009 22:08

Mrs R what happened to that orignal house you were thinking of? Have lost the plot here somewhat

MrsRecycle · 06/05/2009 07:02

We decided it was just too expensive, as house prices have dropped a lot in 6 months in Rye. It would have meant me working full time for the next 16 years which I really didn't want. Now we're going for something which will make us nearly mortgage free in 6 years time. Makes sense really.

Kewcumber · 06/05/2009 11:08

spoke to steppie briefly on phone on Friday - she and her sis are sorting her mums house out this week so she may be game for a night out by the time she gets back.

MrsR but does the new house have spare rooms?

Kewcumber · 06/05/2009 11:15

www.findaproperty.com/displayprop.aspx?edid=00&salerent=0&pid=3722936 good location for Peasmarsh and you could convert garage into my a holiday flat.

slng · 06/05/2009 11:59

Hello!

MrsR - mortgage free in 6 years time

MrsRecycle · 06/05/2009 13:08

OMG Kew - we wanted to look at that one but it's under offer. This is the one we fell in love with and we put in an offer but someone else offered higher. So we are waiting to see if it falls through and they come back to us.

But I really like this one. The loft room is massive, so we'll make it 5 beds without too much hassle/cost. Only problem is its right next door to a run down listed building. But, if the villagers have their way, it'll be a pub again soon so not too far to stumble home at night. Plus its right in front on the Blue Cross cenre and the girls can have as many horses/ponies/cats/dogs as they want and I won't have to look after them They love it there already and haven't even seen the house yet.

slng - it's the better option isn't it?
