Ooh yes, quiz sounds good!

ComeOVeneer · 01/03/2009 08:45

Hi all, fab news about the job Kew. MrsR what happened about your new job prospects? Would love a meet up soon too, again Fri/Sat is best for me (more chance of having DH home).

Spent the last 3 days making a cake for DH's grandmother's 100th birthday (party this afternoon), am damn proud of it actually (will post photos later).

We had the offers of places for schools through yesterday. DD got into our first choice (YAY), however ds didn't (having them 3 years apart means that the sibling advantage doesn't happen for us as dd won't be at the school when ds starts ). He has been offered a place at a very good school, but it is a good 10 mins drive between the 2 so not sure how I can drop off/pick up on time. Not sure if it is worth appealing as that is the only grounds I have.

Will def have to step down as chair of PTA seeing as I will no longer have a child at the school next year. It is a huge loss to the PTA as the vice chair is in exactly the same position as me (her son is leaving with DD and her younger ds didn't get a place either) so is stepping down, and the secretary and treasurer will no longer have children there either, so the entire committee is going in July. ATM we have only got a replacement treasurer!

mellow2 · 01/03/2009 08:50

Morning everyone,

I would love to meet up too but would prefer Fri/Sat as well.

Hope everyone is well.

mygreatauntgriselda · 01/03/2009 18:47

Hi - oh great all up for a meet up then???

Fri/Sat deffo best for me but would prefer a meal to a drink IYKWIM and am., very sadly, useless at any type of quiz

Well done on run SFX

PC that sounds like my kind of evening too - a bit of TV/PC then bed ...

slng · 01/03/2009 19:00

Hello!

Also prefer meal for nightout. Generally useless at pub quiz involving sports, pop music, British (or any other) TV etc, but would tolerate it if there's chips, preferably fish too. Speaking of which, what time do chip shops open?

Spent nice afternoon decorating dinosaur costume, then pub. Had a couple of drinks which made the cycle ride back a bit more, er, interesting...

slng · 01/03/2009 19:02

Have also reclaimed some batteries from toys. Is it just me or is it a crime against humanity to buy a bubble-making machine that requires 8 batteries?? Why does one require batteries to blow bubbles???

slng · 01/03/2009 19:03

The effect of the pub drinks have not worn out yet, as you might have guessed

SJ99 · 01/03/2009 19:21

LOL slng, does sound like lot of batteries but think of all the breath your saving!

I'm easy, like pub quizzes and also like meals out Can also do Fri/Sat but not this Fri 6th as DH already going out

Had a nice walk to Ham today

sfxmum · 01/03/2009 19:48

hi all

slng batteries reclaiming is a very good idea

I do like pub quizzes except when thy ask about nonsense stuff

had an extremelly lazy over indulgent day which I thought was a better strategy that letting my PMT take hold and shout my random opinions on what is wrong with the world at DH,
besides dd has been nestled on mine or dh's lap for most of the day not eating although nothing obviously wrong with her, might be brewing something poor poppet

I really should have run today am feeling a tad restless

OP posts:
rosmerta · 01/03/2009 20:16

Shall I find out details about the quiz?

Slng, lol, just laziness to buy a bubble machine imo

sfx, hope dd is ok

I offered my services to the church band & so was singing at mass today . It was quite good fun, though at the end we had to try not to laugh as we were sounding very 'happy clappy' with the guitar & upbeat hymn

mygreatauntgriselda · 01/03/2009 21:41

Hope mini-sfx is OK

Prob won't come to pub quiz but thanks for asking Ros xxx

rosmerta · 02/03/2009 08:28

What a lovely day, unfortunately ds1 wants to go to Lollipop rather than Kew

Anyone fancy meeting up?

rosmerta · 02/03/2009 08:47

I've managed to convince ds1 that Kew would be much nicer with a picnic etc!

sfxmum · 02/03/2009 08:55

good morning all

dd seems ok but still out of sorts so we might stick close to home might wander about by the river so not sure we will make it t Kew at all, this if dd agrees to get off the sofa

OP posts:
SJ99 · 02/03/2009 09:39

We may wander over to Kew, will see how it goes & text you Ros if we make it. Also need to do some errands today.

Hope minisfx is ok today.

Think DS1 nose might be broken after Lollipop last week, bruise & bump not gone done

rosmerta · 02/03/2009 09:46

Sj, at ds1's nose. I do remember though when ds1 had a bad bang on his nose & we were worried it was broken. The dr said it was still cartilege at this age so very difficult for them to break. Ds1 had a bump & bleeding for about a week or so. Might be worth checking out though if you're worried.

Not sure what we're up to as ds1 keeps changing his mind!

sfxmum · 02/03/2009 10:37

oh no SJ hope ds is ok

we are still pottering about
also we have quite a few dresses etc which no longer fit dd and would be happy to pass on should anyone know of anyone

FriarKewcumber · 02/03/2009 11:55

hello all - hope everyone had nice weekends.

I resign tomorrow, no gloating really as I rather like my boss, and whilst my job is currently shit its been a good one for a number of years and I will miss him and some of the other people.

On the other hand the small increase in pay allows me to pay for ridiculously expensive MOntessori nurseyr next year if DS don't get into any of the others. DS loves it.

My big dilemma is that I'm not sure my CM will do pick up and drop off for this nursery as it may clash with her kids school one. Need to check with her.

mygreatauntgriselda · 02/03/2009 16:18

Hi everyone - still feel fluey with feet like ice Brrrrrrrrrrr!

Anyone else gonna sponsor my swim then?

nspcc.tributefunds.com/fund/St+Patrick's+Day+swim+for+Baby+P/showFund/

I am nothing if no persistent

SJ99 · 02/03/2009 19:31

Auntie - sorry to hear you're still ill, plenty of time to get well in time for swim though

KC - hope resignation goes well & you get your leaving date sorted

Ros - that's reassuring to know about nose, will give it a week and if no improvement will get it checked out

Ended up staying local, did jobs while out & then had nice walk by Teddington lock

Did anyone make it to Kew then?

rosmerta · 03/03/2009 08:29

Morning, no Kew for us yesterday, ended up at Lollipop on one of the nicest days so far

Must go to the library today, got lots of overdue books!

MrsRecycle · 03/03/2009 09:48

Friar - hope today goes well as can be expected. Are you able to do this Friday or next (6th/13th) we want to celebrate your new job and sfx's 40th so you both have to be there.

COV - didn't get the job (after wasting 3 interviews on them) as I had a lack of pre-sales (which they knew at the beginning!). So back looking (but enjoying SAHM at the moment).

Had a lovely weekend, shipped LOs off to various df's and dh and I went to Ashby's in Ealing to watch the Footie. slng - you could have joined us .

dd2 has just come down with the bug I had but she actually seems ok and wants to go to school but can't. So doubt I'll be getting out much this week. She is upstairs watching Bolt with ds (shhhhh...). dd1 finds out her High School place today (assuming we can't sell our house).

sfxmum · 03/03/2009 10:01

good morning all

auntie hope you are feeling better today

no Kew for us either yesterday, not sure what is going on with dd but she looks tired and not sleeping well, this since Sunday, looks like she is fighting something but no obvious signs, no raised temperature
she is at nursery this morning
-did you walk here today minisfx
-oh no we galloped and skipped

am fretting best go for short run instead
