Sorry meant to say I use whey not why!

slng · 06/03/2009 11:08

SJ - the pancakes smelled really nice when they were being cooked, and tasted very nice too. I promised dh and the kids we'll do it again. I think they'll enjoy it. It's a bit magical, isn't it? But we'll have to plan better and make sure all the whey is used up.

SJ99 · 06/03/2009 11:19

Not thought about using it for pancakes, will try that sometime

rosmerta · 06/03/2009 13:03

Hi all, lovely day today!

Happy birthday to the Fat Toddler!

I've just handed in ds1's application to nursery school. Its made me feel quite sad to think of him going to school, damn these hormones

sfxmum · 06/03/2009 13:18

obviously I must make some cheese although probably best start with yoghurt

Kew was lovely but I decided to cut it short as clearly dd would go into meltdown should we be out too long, so best keep it simple and everyone is happy

we saw golden pheasants for the first time in ages and sat by the bird feeder next to QueenC's cottage with a member of staff telling us all about the birds we could see, they were waiting for the fox, poor thing had a hurt leg and they wanted to help

slng · 06/03/2009 13:58

Off to get kids and then to see friend. I'm supposed to "teach" her how to bake cakes. That means whatever we make it's going to be a disaster!

stepfordwife · 06/03/2009 14:01

happy birthday, ft

SJ99 · 06/03/2009 19:30

Ros - scary to think they'll be starting nursery soon, I'll be watching the post in the coming weeks as I should find out if DS has a place for Sept, fingers crossed...

Sfx - how did the french bread turn out? did you make a baguette?

Can't wait to do more Kew trips now weather is improving. Must renew my membership soon

DH out, prob will have an early night, what to do inbetween , will see what's on tv or play DS lite

sfxmum · 06/03/2009 19:37

dd got her Green Star read on on CBeebies which she was pleased about
(for doing recycling and planting bulbs)

SJ I am just going through the setting on the bread machine before starting to experiment, it was ok but not a baguette as such, crust at least was ok

dd's decision/allocation for primary school comes out at the end of the month, is it weird that I am slightly nervous?

OP posts:
SJ99 · 06/03/2009 19:40

You're not the only one who is feeling nervous. It's strange to think they're growing up so fast

I've checked nothing on tv, DS lite it is then!

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/03/2009 09:32

Steppy thanks for the pressie you dropped off for FT - DH loved it & was playing with it for ages!!! xxx 'Twas very kind of you

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/03/2009 09:34

SFX no its normal to be anxious - I lost 2 weeks sleep when waiting to find out if DS1 had got into his school, as we were initially rejected due to distance and had to go on a waiting list.'Tis very stressful indeed

sfxmum · 07/03/2009 09:59

good morning all

meant to say yesterday if anyone fancies going to Kew but has let membership slide I still have quite a few passes, so feel free to ask

DH working today, I slept very badly so instead of getting up at a decent time to go running I opted for a lie in, can't have it all I suppose

dd has come up with a recipe which is made up with butter eggs milk flour and cheese, put in the oven then put puff pastry on top then in the over to 'crisp and puff' then it it
I remarked on the lack of vegetables she said we can it with carrots

ComeOVeneer · 07/03/2009 10:42

sxf, not wierd to be anxious at all. I have just been through exactly the same with both ds (reception) and dd(yr3 junior school). DD got her 1st choice however ds didn't he is on the waiting list and we have a place elsewhere for the moment. We won't find out if he gets a place until as late as the day before school starts! I am just trying to block it out. We basically have accepted and are getting our heads around him going to the other school and if we happen to be contacted with a place for our first choice then it is a bonus, otherwise I will go mad from now until Sept!

mellow2 · 07/03/2009 10:43

Hello everyone,

Happy belated birthday FT!

I'm taking a breather from work. I hope everyone is well. Sorry, no time to read previous posts.

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/03/2009 15:32

Hi Mellow and thanks for birthday wishes

Glad that you are busy with work - that's good isn't it??

mellow2 · 07/03/2009 17:39

It is good. I'm enjoying it. So when are you jetting off to Spain?

slng · 07/03/2009 19:04

Hello!

We (me and DSs - DH having a lie-in) went out for breakfast this morning. It's lovely and quiet out and about at 7.30 in the morning! The cafe was nice, and the waitresses were lovely and cheerful. I wonder what they were on ...

sfxmum · 08/03/2009 08:33

good morning

slng I think anywhere very early is pretty good same with shops people are still fresh and in a reasonably good mood, unless they are weekend teenage employees

so today was my turn to get up really early with unreasonable child but she really wants daddy and keeps trying to go and wake him up

OP posts:
SJ99 · 08/03/2009 18:51

Hello all

Sfx - did daddy get any rest? it is the same when Dh tries to sleep, no rest for the wicked

Well, lady luck must've been passing as we got a letter yesterday saying DS got an afternoon place at nursery starting in Sept I'm so excited esp as they said this year was oversubscribed.

Then Dh lost my watch 2wks ago accidentally, I was gutted as it was expensive but also a pressie from him. Amazingly I found it in the garden and it still works!

Hope everyone enjoying their weekends

sfxmum · 09/03/2009 08:47

good morning all

SJ not much rest I shall have to do better, and btw that was very good luck, ope it continues

after weeks of trying to convince dd to go swimming, today, with a snotty nose she announces she would like to go to the pool ok then

hope everyone is well, lovely day!

OP posts:
rosmerta · 09/03/2009 09:31

morning all

Sj, well done on school & watch! Hope it continues

After a busy weekend & not much sleep last night for ds1, I think a quiet day is in order.

Our bloody mouse problem is back, dh killed one the other night that was eating the bread [bleurgh], but we saw another one last night

SushiMummy · 09/03/2009 09:48

Gorgeous morning! Hope everyone is well.

sfx - I'll be v nervous this time next year as we are way out of the catchment but we still have a year to think/worry about it. Hope you get what you and DD want. My DS wants to go to the school next door to their nursery (naturally).

KC - lovely to bump into you, your chatterbox DS and your lovely mum.

slng · 09/03/2009 09:50

Morning all!

Lovely sunny day but very windy! The washing doing mad dances out on the washing line. As long as they don't fly off ...

Ros - have you tried the council? I'm sure they have an "exterminator" department. Ealing council has one and their "operatives" are quite friendly (to human beings, anyway).
