For when the other thread runs out today!

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 31/07/2008 13:14

afternoon all, am struggling thru the day with a matchsticks propping open my eyes.

at least a free brekkie and lunch have boosted flagging energy levels.

Kew, I bet that adrenalin rush really woke you up LOL. So bascially ds can lock himself into your car and unlock himself out of your house! Clever, if very scary, little chap

The whole "quiet" thing is most definately an indication of n'eer do well. Not on the same scale at all but whilst attempting to multi-task let plug out of bath then went 4 feet away to fold laundry. All quiet. Back into bathroom and dd has squirted an entire bottle of bubble bath over herself in an empty bath.

Que me hosing her down with the shower and she gleefully telling me "I told you I was having a shower tonight Mummy"!!!!

Sushi, Latitude is a really good combination of kids and grown up stuff. Not been to Womad or Cambridge tho.

Have decided to bin End of the Road in favour of Vanfest pmsl! Intend to get some ideas of what sort of van I am going to buy myself and new layouts for H's van.

It should be hilarious, there's even a competition for Best Campervan Chef where they have 1 hour to produce 3 coursed from their van cooker.

I may have to wear a check shirt and truckers cap but not sure yet LOL!

Kewcumber · 31/07/2008 13:20

Vanfest sounds great - appeals to hte gadget geek within much more than dodgy music

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 13:27

all this festival talk am starting to compile fantasy line up, clearly not enough to do go get busy with something

Kewcumber · 31/07/2008 13:31

my fantasy line up would be Eddi Reader, Eddi Reader, Barry Manilow and Eddi Reader.

Kewcumber · 31/07/2008 13:32

how did you manage free brekkie and lunch Paddle and why didn;t you blag me some

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 13:38

you know this time at Latitude I kept bumping into writers journalists and comedians. I expect some of the younger bands where about but I don't know what they look like

I firmly believe Hanif Kureishi was stalking me , he was everywhere everyday in some stripy trousers

dh was saying he felt old at times and some of the younger he half expected them to start singing 'little donkey' or some other age appropriate song

Paddlechick666 · 31/07/2008 13:41

Erm, fantasy line up:

Snow Patrol
Neil Diamond
Warren Zeavon
Bryan Kennedy
Muse
Kasey Chambers
Woody Guthrie
Bob Dylan
Counting Crows
Fleetwood Mac
Madonna
Van Morrison
P!nk
Kaiser Chiefs
Spurs for Jesus
Radiohead
Moby

some of them are dead but we were talking fantasy weren't we?

bigwig banking meeting Kew. always a good lunch but brekkie was a bonus!

Paddlechick666 · 31/07/2008 13:45

I randomly saw Alan Davies and Keith from Prodigy at Latitude.

After watching Bill Bailey I was enormously tempted to go and peer in their faces and say "'ere, are you that bloke?" but resisted the urge.

Great regret of Latitude was that I missed Hanif Kureishi and Irving Welsh but hey ho.....

Didn't H feel like a middle class, civil servant then SFX?

friend was at the Barbican on Monday night and overheard a couple in their 50s raving about Latitude LOL!

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 13:53

saw Miranda Sawyer there with her DP all cuddly. wanted to see more of the poets esp Duffy but at least git to listen to Armitage
LOL about BB

dh is not a civil servant as for the other bit we work for a living

I overheard a conversation between two women, former uni 'mates' which was aspirational middle class point scoring, very nasty with smiles and with lots of dhaaaling thrown in.
kept me amused in the bog queue

Paddlechick666 · 31/07/2008 13:58

lol, tbh i really did find most of the other parents very stand offish as they coralled jocasta and ceasar around the place!

funny convo with dd this morning around "why is you goin a work mummy?"

me responding in loud tones "because Mummy is a contributing member of society who doesn't bludge off the state whilst popping in and out of prison for drug dealing"

god if I live in that flat much longer I will start reading the Daily Mail

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 14:05

know what you mean about some parents I generally avoided the ones wearing Missoni Stella etc generally spoke to foreigners, northerners or older people not prejudiced me on no

stay away from the DM spectacularly misogynistic tosh

Kewcumber · 31/07/2008 14:09

isn't missoni stella a beer?

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 14:13

not at Latitude

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 14:46

Paddlechick666 · 31/07/2008 15:37

bunyanvillas · 31/07/2008 16:27

Baked potatoes! With hummous and salad? OR risotto and salad? Or else quiche and .... yep ... salad! And finally ... fish & chips, that great british speciality! Hello everyone dashing off now, will try and pop in later.

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 16:30

what do you have in the freezer, even if just single portions do a couple pic and mix

my stand by is always pasta with sauce of whatever is around and salad, bonus that dd eats it

rosmerta · 31/07/2008 17:06

paddle, sorry no help here. I'm always scrambling round at teatime trying to find something!

sfx, saw noone tried to stop you baking, did you do anything in the end?

Had a good day potty-wise, ds has used it without being prompted and even did a proper poo in it! Sorry, that is a bit too tmi for teatime really! Am wondering if now is a good time to get the portable potty and attempt it when we're out or just to leave it a bit longer?

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 17:36

ros well done mini ros no baking dh made comments about ever expanding belly (his)

was planning on something for kids tomorrow will take them around kew take a picnic of sorts, they keep dd entertained and are reasonably responsible
dd just been on phone with them making excited noises, sleep might be a problem
I think her ultimate goal is to go to Glasto with big cousins

slng · 31/07/2008 17:53

DS1 is running a temperature. Why doesn't he run a temperature yesterday when we were at the doctor's??

mellow2 · 31/07/2008 18:04

QC,
Ds must have given you quite a fright. He is certainly a resourceful boy.

Slng,
Sorry to hear that ds is unwell.
