For when the other thread runs out today!

OP posts:
rosmerta · 29/07/2008 11:52

morning all, I'm so glad its cooler today!

Paddle, sorry I don't have any advice for you! It is heartbreaking when you see them being left out

Sfx & susie, yep I'm up for a meet tomorrow at Kew, can either do morning or afternoon.

sfxmum · 29/07/2008 11:59

I really hope it is a cooler night dd has been really unsettled and unsettling us as well, we all need a good nights sleep

am ok for either am or pm but if pm please not too late

susiecutiebananas · 29/07/2008 12:12

Sfx & rosmerta, I'm SO sorry, i completely forgot that i'm going down to see my sister tomorrow. I rarely go anywhere! I'm really sorry, so just can't make it. Must definitely do it after our holiday.... if I come back!

DH now has his phone off and I don't expect it will be on until he gets back into the country. NOT happy about it.

HOpe you are all ok today? I stupidly left the garden chairs with cushions out over night. I knew it was going to rain, itended to do it when Isobel was in bed, and MN'ed all eve forgot. It'll be warm again this week won't it? >

Kewcumber · 29/07/2008 12:13

Paddle sorry - meant to say congrats about review - nice that you seem to have turned the corner in work particualrly as you have worked hard at it.

stepfordwife · 29/07/2008 12:33

hi everyone
thank god it's cooler today. met some friends in kew gardens yesterday and it was scorchio.

mrsR; how are your sis and neice now? dreadful behaviour from so-called friend.

sorry, hope haven't missed anything of import, no time to read thread properly at mo as today's my only 'proper" work day (apart from evenings)...so kick my arse off here if you see me again...
toodlepip

sfxmum · 29/07/2008 12:36

no worries susie see you after hols, enjoy

Kewcumber · 29/07/2008 12:40

Would I be completely mad to consider going to Edinburgh festical next year when DS will be 3.5? And would any other idiot comsider coming too.

Had thought doing a house swap might make flying up affordable but that would mean tidying the house up (though I would have a year to do it...)

sfxmum · 29/07/2008 12:49

depends how much you really want to watch I think. I know the festival thing I do is different but we never get to see what we want and if you do there are no guarantees it will be till the end

having said that he will likely enjoy the atmosphere

Kewcumber · 29/07/2008 12:54

no no Edinburgh festival isn;t like a festival - its a month of theatre, comedy music etc spread throughout Edinburgh. WOuld have to house swap or B&B.

Always did tons and tons of theatre which wouldn;t be possible but apparently lots for kids to do during the day - hadn;t thought of taking him, just of leaving him with mum for a few days to go myself as I miss going. But wonder if he will be old enough to enjoy at 3?

sfxmum · 29/07/2008 12:58

I know that is what I meant can't see dd enjoying a comedy show or play apart from the tiny odd ones
and street stuff I can't see kids enjoying it or letting you enjoy it for that matter but never been with kids at such events

but I am not brave

Kewcumber · 29/07/2008 13:02

hmm - think I need to investigate what is on offer first. ANd try him on some stuff more locally... so I am being mad then

sfxmum · 29/07/2008 13:05

don't mean to be negative, it gets quite mad up there during the festival and you have to book for popular shows
one of the reasons I like 'my festival' is that it has loads of kid entertainment, plenty of open spaces and it is easier to nip in and out of different shows, also with dh we can alternate entertaining dd while the other catches a performance

sfxmum · 29/07/2008 13:06

and we both still end up completely knackered while she still keeps going

Kewcumber · 29/07/2008 13:29

yes I am a veteran Edinburgh festivaller so know all about the booking etc. I wonder if I should consider one of "your" festivals

sfxmum · 29/07/2008 13:35

did you ever notice any kids around? might as well start a thread asking if anyone takes theirs

what did you say about my festival?

am already sad that I am very unlikely to go next year, or at least I hope I am not able to go but still sad about it, hope line up is rubbish

Kewcumber · 29/07/2008 13:41

yes there is quite a big kids festival programme but I suspect more suitable for shcool age children - I'm just trying to have my cake and eat it too.

Can you "do" lattitude with a comfy bed and working toilets?

sfxmum · 29/07/2008 14:00

I slept in a tent and had flushable toilets nearby you can get posher digs at the tangerine fields for a premium also some people take their nanny

the talkboard at the sponsoring magazine was very amusing, several people picked up on the civil servant arrest and the kids names
'Jocasta that is daddy's Yakult' being a favourite quote

Paddlechick666 · 29/07/2008 14:08

LOL @ Jocasta and Daddy's Yakult!!

Kew, you can have everything from a beach hut to a tepee already set up for you in Tangerine Field. Not sure what the toilets are like tho.

And you do have to sport a bright orange wristband that proclaims "Too Wimpy To Camp Properly" lol

sfx, hope you're not there next year too but will be if you aren't.

am considering buying tix as soon as funds are available. hoping H will be resuming maintenance payments this month.

M&S Millionaire Shortbread, YUM!

On the [vomemoticon] just saw a couple in M&S who I swear could've been featured in that Match.com advert where they are glued together. YEURCH!

Kewcumber · 29/07/2008 14:10

Paddle in exchange for a bed and a toilet I would have "Too Wimpy To Camp Properly" tatoo'ed on my forehead.

sfxmum · 29/07/2008 14:28

'Ceasar Ceasar have you seen Tallulah' was another
also someone watched a kid of 3+ coming down the toilets looking traumatised
'mummy you told me not to looks down but I did'

not helping am I?

paddle it will end up being PJ Harvey headlining will it not? just so I go very

Paddlechick666 · 29/07/2008 14:37

lol, I must say I did wonder how the older kids cope with those toilets in the main arena. There is now way dd will be able to hover at 3.5 and going on current growth rate the porta potti ain't gonna cut it!

I heard quite a few Milo(s) but apart from that names were pretty normal except for one in particular. An Italian name I have never heard before "Macio" on a wee boy of the same colouring as mini-Ros. Not that I want to be stereo-typical but actually I am

kew have a look here www.tangerinefields.co.uk/

Kewcumber · 29/07/2008 15:06

quite fancy the look of a myhab atcually www.myhab.com/what_is_myhab/default.aspx can feel myself warming to the idea....

slng · 29/07/2008 15:19

kew - looks a bit like this

stepfordwife · 29/07/2008 15:20

hmm, funnily enough read a feature other day about glamping glamour camping...
dh and boys slept in our tiny tent in the garden on saturday night. disturbed by several parties going on in gardens.
"they were still going on when i woke up" said a dismayed ds1 (5am)

Paddlechick666 · 29/07/2008 15:20

I prefer Van with Extension as per FB pics LOL.

Those myhabs are prob quite cool if you're 17 and fancy replicating a Japanese capsule hotel but over 40 with a kid ain't getting my vote!

wouldn't mind one of these tho: www.stunningtents.co.uk/Hire/Yurt_tent.html
