For when the other thread runs out today!

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 30/07/2008 17:05

working from home today - so far have sorted and shredded old paperwork and taken to dump, occupied DS while my mum was at the dentist, bought bargain children garden chair at twickenham charity shop, renewed parking permit and visitors permits at twickenham parking shop and I'm now off for a quick swim before picking up DS. Blimey get so much more admin stuff done wihtout him trying to join in. Apart from work, of which I have done 0 minutes.

mellow2 · 30/07/2008 17:14

sfx,
Bin store has already been cleaned and disinfected, and according to the porter, it gets cleaned regularly. Well I'm glad our hefty service charge is paying for something I actually care about.

We managed to get to Gymboree which is on at 2 pm with 10 mins to spare and we had started getting ready at 10 am . . .

Everything takes forever with dd.

slng · 30/07/2008 17:19

Mellow - my ambition is to have one day of my life not saying things like "hurry up", "what do you mean you haven't got your socks on yet". "No we don't need to pack the kitchen sink we are only going to the supermarket". But I'm not hopeful.

rosmerta · 30/07/2008 17:34

slng, maybe in 20yrs . Know what you mean though, I seem to be constantly telling ds to hurry up!

sfxmum · 30/07/2008 17:52

it is a trial isn't it? I see it as an opportunity to better myself in my pursuit of zen like calm, often it just teaches dd swear words and desperate expressions

slng · 30/07/2008 19:42

CoV - it's a pain waiting in for things, isn't it? I only ever buy small flat things online.
I'm sure they are not as bad as the London Borough of Ealing super-efficient online school application system, which involves printing out the form and sending it with photocopies of everything. And now they've lost the birth cert and I have to take one in to the school! Muppets.

stepfordwife · 30/07/2008 22:29

hello all
how you all diddling?
mellow - glad rubbish was collected - 3 weeks unacceptable

sing..and i've started saying one of the (many) things i loftily swore i'd never say as a mum..."in a minute'

kew, dd took a while to settle after mad excitement of spotting ds from her bedroom window. loved his giggles.

i was in kew gardens this morning, so shame i didn't bump into you sfx and ros (et al?). was supposed to go to wetlands to meet friends but changed to kew. mind you, most of our time was spent at the badgers sett - they ended up filthy but had fun.

got my nephew, 9,and possibly neice, 4,coming for a few days tomorrow. like a bit of crowd control

right, off to bed to read
toodlepip

Paddlechick666 · 31/07/2008 06:54

i am exhausted and at the end of the line with my neighbours.

from midnight till 2am they treated me to surround sound movies, something with a huge soundtrack of loud/quiet music etc.

then they slammed the doors a bit, smashed some crockery, slammed windows, brushed the floor whilst rattling the brush against as many surfaces as possible etc.

i really don't know what to do. i can't keep living like this especially now asbo boy is back so it's his music in the early evening etc.

it's not constant tho and as much as i want to report them the council will do nothing i am sure. i just want them to not get away with their shitty behaviour.

got a viewing on saturday here but i think i am going to have to eat into equity to get this place sold now.

another full on day at work today and houseguest again tonight.

i'm over it

mellow2 · 31/07/2008 07:40

I sympathise paddle. Hope all goes well with the viewing.

MrsRecycle · 31/07/2008 08:38

morning all! slng - am I allowed to guess where you're going on hols or is that insider information? sfx - so your sis managed to get a van there - that's good. Tell her to go to Rye for the day.

KC - wow am impressed with your productive day yesterday. And the shredding! Am so looking forward to next week without LOs at home being able to sort my house out.

pc - sorry to hear about the neighbours. But finger's crossed the viewing goes well. If you want to "house-sit" our house whilst I'm away at the caravan (it'll be empty) the offer is there. However, I do know logistically it probably won't work out (although my lovely CM has spaces!).

Steppie - doubt you'll get much time online with a couple of other LOs but enjoy. My LOs love the badgers set as well.

COV - I always do my tax online and renewed mine on 21st and got it through in 2 days. I'd much rather do it this way than traipse to PO but you do put your faith in RM to deliver don't you?

LAST DAY at work so off to the pub at lunchtime. Stayed at my sis/neices last night in her new home. Its lovely. Apparently psyco woman is known in Dr's as a mad woman and when they told them what happened, they weren't suprised. She isn't going to press charges but the whole of her home town are gunning for her.

Have a lovely day all...

ComeOVeneer · 31/07/2008 09:18

Morning all.

Paddle, sorry things are still so lousy, no advice, but sending postive vibes you get out of their asap.

MrsR, I to prefer to do it online, saves collecting all the necessary paperwork and going into Kingston, but as you say RMleaves something to be desired. I ordered a new cupcake carrier 4 weeks ago (one place in the whole ofthe UK supplies this particular typeand they have erratic supplies, otherwise I have to orderfrom USA). Anyway it never arrived, the company gave arefund but are currently out of stock for the forseeable future

Typically I have woken up toaday wih a sore throat and ache all over, not sur how much of that is due to the 45 min cycle ride I did yesterday evening though. Have to go in a couple of hours and pick up dd and neice from my parents.

Have a nice day everyone.

Paddlechick666 · 31/07/2008 09:46

thanks Mrsr, et al. Thing is it can be quiet for weeks with no probs. I probably inflamed the situ by stomping on the floor at 1am heralding the door slamming and frenetic brushing. She also walloped her ceiling a few times for good measure. Then the husband yelled at her. For all that he's creepy he doe seem to be the voice of reason at times.
AIBU to expect people not to stink on the tube at 8am?
Slng, have fun and don't trash the place for us!

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 09:52

good morning all

paddle much sympathy that is awful, vile selfish people
as for tube it is a lost cause and stinky food should not be allowed yuk yuk

cov hope you feel better

steppie good luck with the full house
am looking forward to niece and nephew visit tomorrow I miss those kids a lot but you can barely have conversation with teens, especially boys.

SJ enjoy being looked after, what are parents for anyway

it was very hot last night difficult to sleep I thought

Kewcumber · 31/07/2008 10:31

drama in the kewcumber household this morning. I'm getting ready upstairs when DS mutters about getting a 'poon' for his medicine (no I wasn't actually giving him any he just decided he needed some) so toddled off downstairs.

A few minutes later I thought - "Ooh that child on the pavement sounds just like DS... WTF!!!!"

DS has pushed one of my iron chairs (no mena feat for those who know how heavy they are) front kitchen to front door, opened the door and has taken my keys out to the car (thankfully quite close to house) and is trying to get in the car

Kewcumber · 31/07/2008 10:33

amazing how such a loud boy can be so quiet when he wants - I think he is turning into mini-cov! Deadlock the fornt door time I think.

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 10:37

KC have you calmed down yet? did he have any clothes on?
resourceful little boy you have there

a piece of advice needed please
got the boiler serviced last month (cost a rip off fortune)
answerphone message yesterday saying can I please call them regarding payment

turns out they have no record of payment asked me how I paid etc
it was by cheque to the engineer and I have a receipt
checked bank no payment out as yet
not my responsibility as such is it?

Kewcumber · 31/07/2008 10:45

he had a tshirt on and nothing else (we were getting dressed at the time - or were supposed to be).

I would give company cheque details - if they want another tell them you will pay then by cheque again with the cost of having the orginal cheque stopped by your bank (usually about £10). I;m afraid that if you know they haven't cleared the cheque you are still responsible for paying the bill.

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 11:00

KC quite funny from the outside, did he need the chair to get to the lock? that is very clever

thanks re advice not trying to great out of payment just the chasing prior payment I asked if they wanted the details they said no but I asked t be kept informed

Kewcumber · 31/07/2008 11:02

yes he can;t reach the lock wihout a chair.

Was funny after I realised he was safe and only standing on the pavement outside the house (willy peeking out from under his tshirt, delighting the neighbours with our classiness no doubt) but had a bleedin heart attack as I thundered down the stairs not knowing if he'd wandered into the road.

Kewcumber · 31/07/2008 11:03

trying to get out of paying obviously more my kind of thing than yours then!

SushiMummy · 31/07/2008 12:27

QC - at Gherkin-kun! Glad he's safe but must be a big shock to you. BTW, did you decide to work from home as no fxxking district line service yesterday? This morning it was severe delay. Pathetic, isn't it?

sfx - do you know any bluegrass/folk and child friendly festivals? I'm not a huge fan of camping but since DS and DH love music...

Hope everyone is OK.

Kewcumber · 31/07/2008 12:31

oooh sushi - come to Lattitude I think they have a childrnes area (I'm almost convinced) - we can sit in our own patch and play blue grass on CD's!

No I was working from home because Mum had dentist appointment. Took half day holiday and half day shirking from home.

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 12:57

sushi Cambridge folk festival and Womad spring to mind WOMAD is very child friendly, more world than just blue grass

Latitude rocks I expect at some point they will have a world stage although there have been a few acts already sprinkled about

sfxmum · 31/07/2008 13:00

Cambridge can't say how child friendly

womad

itsmyparty · 31/07/2008 13:07

Oooh I used to go to Womad = pre DCs - what a great festival!!

QC - Very impressed at your DS's tenacity!!!
